Thanks for your reply, it is a very interesting take. But I am super confused by your thought of Jetfire as a failure. I thought the reasons he was seen as a failure were due to the hollowness and the fake chest, two asoects that remain the same with this used as a seeker mold. So what makes Jetfire a failure while not staining the use of this mold for seekers?

My guess is because of the ones holding the rights to Maccross held them with a iron grip, no TRUE G1 Jetfire can ever be made. Best way to stop any complains is if you take a modern trnasformable Macross toy and customise it into Jetfire.
Because let's face it, the only way to have a defenitive G1 Jetfire is to make a MP one. Something that can never be done.

So, complainers should just STFU and buy the complete original G1 toy if they can never be satisfied by either the voyager Classic or the Gen Leader one. Because unless HASTAK finally own Macross, your dream Jetfire will NEVER be made.

I think I'd have to buy a leader Thrust... hell, also do one in his Armada colors! I'd also buy a Slipstream and Windblade. But none of these boring seekers... they've been done to death before

So I got Leader Megatron on Friday and opened it up today. OMG, have you ever heard the phrase about toys not photographing well? Well CW Megatron is the embodiment of that saying, I have yet to see a picture or video that properly captures this toy. For me the biggest in hand realization was the fusion cannon. Like everyone else I rotated it around so the bigger end faced forward, and then quickly rotated it back because it just looked better that way. Sure in 20 years this will be junk because the rubber treads will disintegrate but for now it's awesome. By the by, did the stickers come in the baggie with the card for everyone?

Yeah, I got that dinky derpy sticker sheet in the baggy. Totally NOT worth it. If you want to REALLY pimp out your CW Megatron, spend the price of a deluxe for the awesome Reprolabel set. Hasbro G1 Megatron TRULY become GEEWUN wit it!

And for those who think only the cannon is not perfect on Megs and are not willing to buy complete 60$ upgrade kits, me and Skywarp_128 are designing a simple but awesome canon upgrade. I may take weeks or longer, but I'll keep you posted!

This. Like people, some toys are not photogenic. chuck's response goes to show fellow collectors, (not you chuck) not to be too harsh on preliminary or even high def images on the PC screen. Heck, even in Japanese Hobby magazines (which are rendered much better) to pass judegement on a fig. Devastar especially.

Funny thing, this isn't even the first time that's happened. G1 Star Saber is another example. Pretty much every TF mistransformed to fit in a box too.

i got this got last night. an outstanding re-use of the mold. well painted and tight joints.

the head sculpt is pretty damn awesome, dont like the hole in his head, but it would have been cool had the light piping been better.

Maybe you're right about the sensor crown thing, it probably is there for Starscream's crown, but I think they disguised it as a sensor.

Actually, the hole in the forehead is a feature of Thundercracker's (and now Starcream's) current IDW design. Since this mold is based on that look, it really has every right to be there. It's just happy coincidence that it can serve double duty as an authentic sculpting detail and a hole to peg in and secure a crown for the eventual Starscream repaint of the figure.

I'm tempted to buy these jets... but there's just something OFF about them. The jets look great, but the robots aren't doing it for me.

Something about the underside of the wings looking all plastic/mold lines or whatever. That checkerboard pattern irks me the more I look at it.

Still, apparently the height and style isn't THAT far from MP... and it's a lot cheaper. (also may be nice to have a bit of difference between Thundercracker and Starscream....

But I just don't know...
