I dont want any stinking Legends class toys.

Watch, this size will eventually replace the deluxe size as the standard, and they'll still charge the same 17.99.

If hasbro would stop making crappy toys no one wants, and stop charging too much for them, maybe they would be doing better and wouldn't have to lay off all of those employees. I wish I lived in Japan so I could still buy Transformers and not have to deal with crappy hasbro. This, on the heals of another crappy movie with a bunch of crappy movie toys. I bought so many from the previous movies that sit in boxes in my basement, which, I cannot give away.

I think Hasbro really needs to rethink their target audience. Outside of the Christmas season, most folks that I see buying Transformers at my local TRU are collectors, and like me they wouldnt mind some bigger figures without the kiddie hasbro color schemes. In my opinion hasbro needs to cater more to the "adult collector" and quit with the cracker jack toys. The money is there to be had as evidence by the content and very existence of this site (not to mention the 3rd party success), hasbro just needs to put out quality toys people want(a brand new 29.99 voyager should not need a "shoulder fix"). Metroplex is a step in the right direction, these, not so much.

I think Hasbro is trending in the right direction. They're not getting everything right, but have they pleased everyone? We've moved on from the shrinking toy scale as evidenced by a bunch of the newer Deluxes, such as Lazerback. Our Voyagers are getting beefier once again and for goodness sake - I dont think we deserve to complain about Blitzwing and Springer. The fandom was clamoring for them since Classics '06 and we finally get them and despite a small flaw, I for one believe that the expectations have been beaten.

We may not be the 'target audience', but we are an audience. If Hasbro didn't realize they had adult collectors, we wouldn't have toys homaging Transformers in comic books. We'd have Wave 1 full of two different Bumblebees and two different Optimus Primes. We wouldn't have figures like Straxus/Darkmount, nor would we have the revival of Ultra Magnus or the Metroplex you're clamoring over. They wouldn't have a partnership with FunPub to run a fanclub or a devoted convention.

What is so appealing about Takara? We share the same lines, and unless the whole world falls apart, the Masterpiece molds do end up trickling into Hasbro territory. Encore? Superlink GT? They don't exactly initiate the nomad in me.

Hasbro is getting a lot less credit than they should. And Movie toys? They have to cash in on the movie franchise when movies are present. Its like complaining that there are too many Movie Iron Man toys out and not enough GeeWun Iron Man figures during the release of Iron Man 3.

How much do they usually cost? Starscream and Waspinator are a must buy for me. Not sold on Megatron, but Prime and Bee are both pretty cool looking in my book.

They're approximately $9.99 to $11.99 currently depending on the retail chain or online website.

Now the downside, why is it when Megatron isn't a gun, when he finaly has a chance to have a robot mode that isn't restricted with and alt mode that will almost certainly lead to weird proportions, still weird proportions. His alt mode is virtualy a block, why are his lower legs so akward looking. There isn't one tank Megatron that is any good, apart from a concept drawing of a Barabus tank, in light brown shown a while back.
Lastly, what a pathetic attempt of target masters, why do they bother with these stupid guns, it looks like they are holding insects, megatron looks like he has a new pet instead of laserbeak. It seems that you can point anything in the transformers world and it's a gun. Why not be done with it and make Bananna traget masters.

Armada Megatron is fantastic, and Waspinator makes a great gun, I don't know what you're looking at. Chop Shop though, not so much... perhaps it's mistransformed?

WAspinator has his wings rotated and a barrel sticking out of his arse, it looks like starscream is holding a wasp still. Not feeling Armada line at all really.

Megatron was a gun in the reveal the shield legends line. That was the only size scale that Hasbro could make a gun and if you remember the barrel was molded in blaze orange leaving the tip unpainted. They cannot make a gun transformer, that looks realistic, in a larger size class

Generations Megatron was some blaster aswell, and that one was kool. But it's not the gun alt mode my point was about. It's when they use the tank alt mode, I'd expect them to make a better robot mode from it. I was just saying how the gun alt mode restricted the look of the robot mode, and how the tank alt mode should be able to result in a better robot, but so many have had awful results.

I think there's room to criticise Hasbro is we as consumers are not happy. But I think using these 4 Legends figures, that appear to be much better value for money, regardless of the characters they're making (and really CHOP SHOP? WASPINATOR?) than the old Legends or even most Cyberverse Commanders and using them as an example of all that's wrong with the world of plastic transforming robots...might be going a tad too far?
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I dunno 'bout you guys, but I find myself buying FAR, far more of the little TFs than the larger ones these days. They just seem to be doing more with them; look how long it took to get a Blitzwing or how the Prime line can't even get the main lineup done, and yet both Cyberverse and Kre-O decided "hey, let's go for friggin' broke and make Abominus!" Guess who I can expect the other Deluxe Insecticons and BW Predacons from.

I'm not expecting that, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong. I also wouldn't mind being right, given that I'm honestly curious about what comes next now. And yeah, tiny Transformers rule. I'm not into Kreo, but I'm loving the Prime Cyberverse stuff, and I can't wait for my legends Prime and Bumblebee and my wave 3 BH Cyberverse toys (Shockwave AND the other three parts of Abominus, yay!) to arrive. I'm not as disilusioned with the bigger stuff as you are, but I do agree that there have been some real gems in the pocket-sized range.

There's also the matter that us adult collectors only make up about less than 10% of Hasbro's profit margin from the Transformers brand.

There's also the matter that us adult collectors only make up about less than 10% of Hasbro's profit margin from the Transformers brand.

There's an image from around 2006 or 2007 that came from a licensing fair/expo that showed an image in a promotional booklet from Hasbro that showed Hasbro stating that adult collectors made up 15% or 17% of sales (I can't remember which). I can't find the image right now. We reported on it here on Seibertron.com, or at least the expo, but I can't seem to find any information about this. Maybe one of you know the image that I'm talking about and can find it or dig it up?

Ahhh, see my OP - now we we're getting to one of my original points - I'm not convinced that is true. How could that really be known? it's a rough guesstimate at best, one that I think is greatly understated and when realized could produce significant growth in said profit margin. Time will tell. Our beloved TFs have been around 30 years, but a lot can change in this business in 5-10 years. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. I'm hoping for the better, despite my negative opinions regarding Hasbro product and price, especially when inevitably compared to Takara's approach.

There we go, and that number's about 6 or 7 years old now so who knows. Based on many factors including current age and financial status of us who had these as little kids, Comic Con attendance,
I think that number must be increasing all the time.

I would agree with that. I'm sure the movies had to have an impact on the numbers either way. It would be interesting to get a revised/current number from Hasbro.

I don't like the direction this conversation is going in. Nothing good can come from it.

(In the sense that the argument has the potential to engulf the thread if it continues.)

I think the mere existence of the Generations line is a sign that Hasbro is trying to cater to our demographic. To say nothing of some of the figures in it... You think Little Timmy knows or cares who Chop Shop is?

Hasbro is getting a lot less credit than they should. ]

Hear hear. I agree with this. This is a toy company. If you go to thier website they have a picture of a child, not an adult collector. I think they are doing a pretty good job of catering to adult collectors. To be honest, they don't have to at all. I'm sure it's nice when we buy boxes of toys that sit in basements (why?) but I think that's a bonus for them. There have only been a few cases where I thought Takara had a better toy. Most of the time I just shrug and enjoy the one I have.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.
TFCon List: Classics Skywarp, General Optimus, BW Airrazor, Transmetal Tarantulus, Alternity Prime, Fire Convoy

The 1st thing that came to my mind:

:michaelbay: Mushiking! :michaelbay:

No one played that? :( Ah well, I guess it was limited to Asia. Really cool card/arcade game for that time (a decade ago).

Also, this is a pretty odd design choice for megatron. Then again, the ledgends now have pretty mixed designs.

Optimus: IDW
Bee: WFC
Starscream: IDW
Megs: Some IDW? Not the RID one for sure.

It would have been cool if megs and SS were FOC designs. But oh well, this works too. Gotta have my little Mushiking beetles.
