You call it "a sad attempt to reset", I call it A. A followup of the plot bunny left by The Headmasters (since the idea of Galvatron actually perishing from his plunge into the Arctic sea is laughable) and B. Dark Nova wanting his servant to have a body free of Unicron's influence. It's no worse than some of the revivals from the Marvel comics (not that that's saying much).AllNewSuperRobot wrote:He is bad fan fiction in the same vein as the insulting trash that was IDW's Transformers: Deviations IE A sad attempt to reset the changes made by The Movie, by some who just can't accept change.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Care to elaborate?AllNewSuperRobot wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:What Manga exists for those toylines will be included, just don't expect much from them in terms of content. What else is there to say about Super Megatron? Other than essentially Bad fan fiction...
No it shouldn't, at least not as it applies to Optimus Prime. Because the way it "moved beyond" him is almost as stupid as "Afterdeath".AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Even the televised seasons of the Takara series moved far beyond Prime and Megatron. Which should be applauded
The movieverse was giving us that, at least before Travis Knight went ruined it. IDW was in many ways G1INO. The Unicron Trilogy was different, Animated was different, Prime was different.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Stagnated for everyone that wants New Transformers again. Something beyond G1.

Yes. How it quickly killed him off again in a lame way because he didn't have a toy out anymore. And also how it then invalidated that sacrifice a scant few episodes later by blowing up Cybertron.ZeroWolf wrote:You mean how headmasters quickly killed Prime off again just to sell Fortress Maximus as the new Autobot leader

Just realised that the head is Overbite's, not Turtler's

Pretty sure it is, I was on the retweets on that, and I think that connection is something you can do. Some of the tweets about these guys have been with no mods, and they do some great stuff

And if so, were you even aware of it at the time? Like did you actually live in Japan back then?
If "No" to either, you're getting worked up over something from 29 years ago that had zero relevance to you at the time. Let it go.

The Headmasters is full of stupid.
ZeroWolf wrote:You mean how headmasters quickly killed Prime off again just to sell Fortress Maximus as the new Autobot leader... Then in Masterforce brought in God Ginrai as bot leader etc etc.
ZeroWolf wrote:As to why powermaster Prime wasn't used, without checking dates, it's likely that the Toy wasn't ready (was a prime toy re-released when season 3 aired?) PMOP came out in 1988.
If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Sunbow's bringing Optimus back in the show is what inspired Hasbro to create the new Powermaster OP toy in the first place, which would have made it impossible for the Powermaster toy to have been used for that two-parter since the idea for it wouldn't have come about until after the episodes had already been made and aired.Bumblevivisector wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:As to why powermaster Prime wasn't used, without checking dates, it's likely that the Toy wasn't ready (was a prime toy re-released when season 3 aired?) Oddly enough, the original Op was offered via mail-away in '86 and '88, but not '87, IIRC. His 2 episode Return was purely the Sunbow creators bringing him back into the 'toon as fast as they could respond to all the hate mail they got over his Movie death.
