This is true, more has gone into these figures then your standard deluxe, the plastic content alone pushes them out of the price bracket, then there's the paint apps to think about. These are far from simple retools.

However Star Convoy from the Octane mold would be in scale with that Megatron, have a more accurate alt mode (especially if they tooled some threads) and possibly a space shuttle/spaceship mode from the plane mode, which would have fitted the concept better and even elevated it beyond the G1 space truck.
The Hasbro retail TR Voyager Optimus is already in Star Convoy colors anyway, so wish granted.

Not to mention a Star Convoy head is built in the mold, it just went unused:

Thing is, in the original Battlestars manga, Star Convoy was significantly taller than Super/Ultra Megatron. These Generations Selects releases were made with scale in mind.

As much as I love ya all, I ain't routing around in my sons room for animated megatron. The sexyphobes in the flame models posts over Windblade have scared me of going any where near his bishoujos.

Voyager tr prime can always get some toyhax labels to go with super megs, just need to gimmick up some shoulder guns for robot mode. I don't have selects star convoy so potp black prime is for scale refs (to me star convoy with out a snub nose truck ain't star convoy, nemesis prime is only nemesis prime with a snub nose truck but the potp mold in black was too hard to resist and around £30ish). The pictured Tr galvatron in the photos is either with cw cyclonus chest head or just with the face plate popped up (which is smaller, but Unicron currently holding tr galvatron megatron titan master so he ain't pictured/wouldn't effect scale).

So I just signed up for a Hasbro pulse account to order the Super Megatron. Does anyone know if they give a discount for new accounts, or just any coupon codes for pulse? no big deal if they don't, I just wanted to ask before I place my order.

Personally, I think I'm happy with the PotP Optimus mold use. I'm… unsatisfied with the TR Voyager mold in its G2 Optimus form, and I don't think I'd like it much better as Star Convoy. Plus, going by the original Battlestars manga, the Selects Star Convoy we got actually scales properly with this Super Megatron.

Yeagh, I think the g2 use and nemesis are the stand outs for tr voyager prime but toyhax action master makes the red/blue deco work. Really wish tr megs had got a version in his action master tank colors (and green g2) but I have a spare I intend to paint up into action master (even tho I can't paint it's not as though it needs to be anything special, just black, green and purple).

If they had put a bit more effort into super megatrons legs with some retooling I'd be okay with the shoulders being horizontal. Definitely not as lazy as the selects star convoy. Impressed with how they've incorporated super megs tank mode. Playing with galvatron at the mo to see if he can pull off a H tank monstrosity.

Weirdly enough, when using galvatronus tank treads as treads it looks worse. If super megatron suffers from any mold reuse loose legs he's going to a pain to position into tank mode as nothing tabs in place (galvatronus hip skirts help the placement of the legs which megs doesnt have*edit negatron does have them too). I removed a piece from galvatron ages ago to make him display better in bot mode but it shouldn't effect his tank/artillery mode over all and it's kind for another fan mode for the galvatron figure to have.

Selects Super Megatron Now Available on Hasbro Pulse

Thanks to our own Seibertronian Hellscream9999 and others for letting us know that Takara Tomy Generations Selects TT-GS09 Super Megatron is now available on Hasbro Pulse! There isn't a whole lot more to say that hasn't already been said before. He has two forms, Super and Ultra with both unique bot and vehicle modes as well as a third "Omega" face. Hasbro Pulse is asking a slightly more reasonable $59.99 but will only be taking orders until April 28 to meet Takara Tomy's cut off date of May 7. If you're a current Pulse Premium member you'll also get free shipping.

With all the things this figure has going for it I wonder how many people will be willing to buy more than one? There could be an argument to be made for buying two or even three for display purposes. Let us know in the Energon Pub forums if you plan on buying one or more.

If I do grab him, it'll only be one. The only time I've bought the same figure twice for display purposes was Punch/Counterpunch so I could have both robot modes back to back. And while I hate that there's a cut off date for pre-orders, at least it's better than the week they gave for the Seacons

Fingers crossed for this. However, because of the pandemic (thank you, China!) Mandarake only ship by EMS at the minimum. Ironically, it's still cheaper than buying anything from HP for this Canadian.
