Skritz wrote:So after my much lamented kerfuffle and moment of brain damage of cancelling the last two seacons like an idiot, I was thinking: what part of the big weapon does Tentakill give? Was thinking, if all goes wrong I could get Overbite and ditch Tentakill. That would make me lose the 'Targetmaster' option but I'd have a slightly different team with God Neptune, as that one would have Scylla and lack Lobclaw.

And yes, I'm such a sucker for beast modes and combiners that I'm considering God Neptune.

Here's the layout of the weapon parts for reference:

Sword
Left and Right Prongs: Seawing/Kraken & Tentakil
Center Prong: Overbite & Skalor/Gulf
Staff Bottom: Nautilator/Lobclaw

The combined gun has no official setup for King Poseidon/Piranacon, but God Neptune has Overbite's to Snaptrap/Turtler's, Seawing/Kraken's bigger gun on top, Tentakil's and Skalor/Gulf's on either side with Seawing/Kraken's smaller guns on the bottom. Seib's concoction comes pretty close actually:

Why is it that guns are so much more flexible than melee when comes to combining them?

Huh, how about that. Seawing/Kraken's and Nautilator/Lobclaw's guns are missing from that set, with Overbite as the Targetmaster.

Canadians should look up the preorder for God Neptune at Age 3 And Up.

God Neptune looks so good, and I am OK with them excluding the 6th member, it makes King Poseidon that much more unique in modern times too.

Also really cool that they retooled Tentakil, they went all out on this mold for both uses!

So finally, King Poseidon is complete, as I imagine most folks who ordered from TF source are getting theirs now at last.

I imagine it will be quite some time before we see packaging for God Neptune. I try not to set my expectations too high, but the fact that this is sold exclusively as a set gives me hopes it would be closer to a UW style box, and not five individual packed toys in the same box (ala Volcanicus in China)

My final two Seacons arrived. Both are very good as individual figures; especially Tentakil. What a bizarre yet immensely well executed reuse of a transformation scheme. The big dude himself is probably my second favorite combiner now only behind Megatronia. He’s precisely the sort of gloriously over the top silly that works in Transformers.

I don't know why, but the idea of Tenatkil's face being upside down just didn't sit well with me, glad I was able to have him face backwards ;) . Also I was determined to find a way that ol' KP could be holding all his weapons & accessories. Fortunately there's enough 5mm ports to make that happen.

Also I just watched a review from about a year ago featuring a 3P Seacon set (I don't remember the manufacturer...but I think there's currently only one), and although it was bigger and more stable than TT's, the elbow joint still couldn't support a 6th member as a weapon.

Selects King Poseidon is amazing, no doubt, and I am so happy to have it. But I find it ironic that in this age of modern engineering, the only combined form of this character that can support its weapon is the original (and any color variation thereof).

Considering all the retooling they did do. Putting ratchets on the deluxe knees would have helped. I don’t think there would be space in the hips though.

I know Siebertron himself used a thickening agent. Which is tempting. I just worry that I’d screw something like that up.

There's plenty of floppiness to criticize in the Deacons, but Piranacon's problem isn't faulty engineering but gravity. There's no comparing the weight of these modern figures with the relatively small and light vintage ones.

If you have to pose him with a Targetmaster, I would recommend looking into figure or flight stands. Unfortunately the combined mode is so tall that even my 8" Flightpose is too short.

I remembered that as a kid I usually put the designated Targetmaster on the included weapon stand. Fortunately, Flightpose stands can fill that role better.

As a side note, I really wish they hadn't made the thumbs reversible. It makes posing with weapons that much harder, and it was completely unnecessary.

I appreciate that they tried, but there just isn’t really any way to make a modern deluxe work as a Targetmaster. Even a relatively light figure like a combiner limb is just too heavy. It isn’t a huge deal for me though. Overbite can still be held pointing downward at KP’s side if you like so he can still be actually attached to KP while displayed; he just can’t be pointed out like a gun. He’s a pretty cool robot individually too though so just having him hang out alongside the combined mode as an individual kinda like Alpha Bravo and Superion will look fine to me too.

Do kind of wish they'd packed in upscaled weapon stands, or there was a way to use some of the weapons and extra fits to make one. has anyone had any luck or use for plugging the fists into the back of the feet? It never seems to load bare anything meaningful... and if anything... messes up balance even further.

I find that KP stands just fine without the spare hands attached to the feet. Plus they look goofy.

Kind of a random aside, but after finally acquiring Impactor, I can definitely see why folks have called for a Demolisher retool. He looks VERY Demolishery not to mention that they haven’t reused the mold yet so it kinda stands to reason that a Selects reuse appear at some point and Demolisher fits the idea of Selects pretty well.

He's got Cybertron Defense Scattorshot's altmode, so that coupled with the already-released Hot Shot and people's desire for a Cybertron Defense Red Alert from Doubledealer would make Scattorshot a fitting reuse of Impactor's mold.

Why limit to one or the other, I want all of the above. :-D

...that being said, I am both responsible for talking about a Demolishor retool since before we even saw what Impactor looked like and am almost guaranteed to purchase all of those possible retools, so I'm biased.
