I was really pleased that everyone in the comments were able to joke around in good faith. This was until (Mr.) Seibertron himself decided to weigh-in.

Honestly, it's very unbecoming of the site owner to so transparently choose a side on a very politicized topic. Of course, he retains the right to say what he wants, but his virtue-signaling is yet another example of people taking Trump as much more than the feckless president and meme he is.

Has Trump's rhetoric spoken to a bigoted, borderline-fascist sect of the electorate? YES.

Is Trump himself actually a fascist? Is there some malicious intent?
My guess is NO.

Ben Shapiro himself said in regards to Trump: "Don't attribute malice when stupidity will do."

Admittedly, I didn't even want to weigh in on this conversation. But the Site Owner's post crossed a line, in my opinion. He put a lot of work into crafting this platform, and a site for Transformers-Fans should be an apolitical place. I'd hate to see users develop a bad taste in their mout over some innocuous (and not-so innocuous) comments...

As you yourself said, he has a right to his opinion. If he doesn't like Trump, that's his choice. The only reason this discussion is taking place is because it's Transformers-related. If those G2 covers weren't involved, we wouldn't be talking about Donald Trump. If you disagree with the administration of this online community, that's unfortunate. But again, as you yourself said, he's the Site Owner. He has the right to express whatever opinion he has, just like we all do. As long as it's done in a civil manner. :D

You can't be surprised the thread turned out how it has, there is no other thing that could have happened.

This website was never an escape from anything as I have learned myself, the internet itself is not an escape or bunker heck you have more freedom and escape by just staying off the internet completely.

Reality is a thing and the facts are there is a man named Trump who has said some and did horrible things. (In my opinion Clinton is worse with the whole likely to start a big war with Russia thing with the no fly zones, as well as just being more of a snake then Trump who is simply just a moron and nothing more) no one can escape and the sooner we suck it up and live with the matter the better.

Yeah I know. I am expecting a mod to post in here to knock off all the political stuff any second. Oh wait, lol.
There wasn't a need for mod intervention. Calm discussion is welcomed and encouraged, regardless of topic. Just make sure it doesn't degenerate into a flame war. Everyone has his/her own opinion, respect that individual's right to express it.

Personally, I'm not offended by Trump and the stuff he says, but I do understand why some people are. I wish he was a little more thoughtful considering the position he's in, but I'll take a loudmouth over a conniving manipulator like Hillary or Obama any day.

Honestly, I loathe the man and the rest of his administration isn't any better. Hillary did always irk me for various reasons. Obama I liked overall, but he certainly had his faults.

Despite the fact that I detest the man, the logic of posting this news escapes me. Thankfully, people have been less...inflammatory than I would have expected, but I'm waiting for the shoe to drop. Like, I get that he's an established artist who has referenced transformers in his work before, but still...

I have always been fairly upfront about my political views. Wasn't going to say much until I saw someone compare Trump to Optimus Prime, which is really sad to see that anyone could possibly compare that man with a noble fictional character who, for the most part, has represented all that is good (admittedly amongst a never-ending fictional Civil War and most likely excluding the less than noble Bayverse Optimus Prime).

All I'm saying is that I feel he has an obligation to not say or type anything that will offend a large swath of his user base. Most of the people here have a thick skin it would seem, so I don't see that happening. Since a Transformers fansite should be apolitical, I see no reason why overtly political posts like his and several others should not be a grey-zone of sorts. (Sorry for the double-negative)

For the sake of transparency, I'll say it: I voted for Trump. Do I like him as the President: Hell, No. As a meme though, he's superb! But I do wish we could stop casting stones at each other.

Between Hillary's "Basket of Deplorables" moment, and Trump's "Grab Her By The P**sy" pronouncements, this was a dogs**t election cycle, and I wish we could stop bringing it up. That goes for Liberals, Leftists, and Conservatives alike.

Earth to Fox-f**king-News: quit reporting on how bad of a candidate Hillary Clinton was. She didn't get elected, so quit bringing her up!

To be fair, I think he was memeing, but that's the funny thing with the Internet, isn't it? We never truly know what someone actually means without hearing in person.

Also, I understand and respect that you're the owner. Since you quoted my "apolitical place" phrase, is it to fair to say under ordinary circumstances you agree with me? Isn't it a bit totalitarian to say the rules change when I say so?

But I understand your perspective, and respect where you're coming from; I'll leave off.

With that, I can agree. I would have been all for Bernie Sanders if he had been about 10 to 20 years younger. I liked Hillary, sort of, but she had a ton of political and personal baggage. I wasn't thrilled about her being the Democratic candidate, though she would have been much more Presidential-acting than Trump and would have retained the dignity that position has held for most of our country's history. I was also done with the whole Clinton-Bush legacy from the past 20 to 30 years. Time for someone new! Can't wait to see what happens in 2020. I can just hear the commercials now about having political hindsight in the year 20/20. :KREMZEEK:

It's tough to do that when Trump keeps bringing up "Crooked Hillary", as he likes to call her.

I'm not gonna weigh in politically here, but I wholehearted agree with your stance on this. ;)^ Plus I must say I'm impressed by the generally peaceful discussion amongst the users here.

Though I must say if we're gonna compare Trump to a Prime, go with Sentinel Prime. ;) I swear if his color hadn't been established almost a decade earlier I would've thought the artists repainted him specifically to homage our asshat in chief's signature tone.

No offense, but I don't think we should compare anyone to Optimus Prime. I just think this is an insult to Transformers, and not Transformers news. I do not like people making fun of my Commander In Chief no matter their opinions. I am currently in a war zone and rely on that man.

I feel I've got to point out that outside of the US, the public perception of Mr Trump is extremely poor. Here in the UK, it was even debated in parliament as to whether he should be banned from the country.

Given that the site has an international user base, I'm guessing that rather than a large swath, a very small minority might be closer to the truth. Honestly I suspect more people here would be offended by someone badmouthing Michael Bay.

How does "a lecture on feminism" express hatred towards Marvel's fans?

Because people who read comics, generally speaking, read them for superhero shenanigans and not so they can be lectured on why being a man makes them responsible for everything bad that ever happened to every woman ever?

you'll end up with a lecture on feminism instead.

How does "a lecture on feminism" express hatred towards Marvel's fans?

Because people who read comics, generally speaking, read them for superhero shenanigans and not so they can be lectured on why being a man makes them responsible for everything bad that ever happened to every woman ever?

I'd make the argument that that perspective doesn't describe feminism, but, then again, feminism has turned into this weird blanket term for a variety of schools of thought the same way saying one is Christian doesn't mean any one thing.

At any rate, superhero comics are rarely solely about super hero shenanigans to begin with. More often than not, they're used as a convenient springboard to tackle greater themes applicable to the real world, whether they're general morality stories or an unsubtle examination of the cold war (see Watchmen). Thor, it seems to me, just happens to be one of those springboards into a real world issue that you don't agree with. Also, which Thor book are you talking about? Mighty Thor, Thor vs. Hulk: Champions of the Universe, or The Unworthy Thor?

Heck, even the Transformers books aren't just about Transformers' shenanigans, and at various points have taken on themes of class warfare, haves vs have-nots, oppression, religious fanaticism, I could go on.

Can you provide examples? I'm behind on my Marvel comics.

Can you provide examples? I'm behind on my Marvel comics.

To be honest I don't read them myself (capes aren't my thing), but a few that spring to mind are "Angela: Queen of Hel"'s embarrassingly stupid **UNSOLICITED OPINIONS ON ISRAEL???** scene, that one bit where femThor fights a stereotypical strawman "dudebro", and on the movie side of things, the whole "Washington monument was built by slaves so it's bad guise!" bit in Spiderman: Homecoming. There's also the fact they have a hero named "Black Panther" (yes I am aware he's been around for a while, but that doesn't really help Marvel's case much) which is pretty much the black equivalent of calling a superhero "Klansman".

There's also the overall massive slump in sales ever since they've tried to pander to the socialist crowd, which is a pretty evident sign that it isn't working.

I'm by no means the best person to ask about this, as I have only a cursory knowledge of the madness that has infected Marvel and have tried to steer clear of it. That said, if you want further reading, check out the Subreddit r/WerthamInAction (a community dedicated to archiving agenda pushing, ethical violations and flat-out stupidity in the comic book sphere) or just Google Image Search "Marvel Social Justice" and try not to implode with cringe.

Actually, that was just my polite way of asking if you actually knew what you were talking about or just parroting what other people have said.

Got my answer. Thanks.

Well I've enjoyed my stay here at Seibertron.com but seeing as the owner of the site doesn't respect others, and purposefully posts a controversial thing on his website, just so he can catch someone defending the president, and attack them, makes me sad since I really enjoyed this community. BTW Mr. Seibertron you forgot what Hillary did and what she called us, she called us Deplorables, just look up what that means, plus she was in office for 30yrs and things got worse, yet she still said america was fine and nothing was wrong with it. Go look into what was up with Hillary, then maybe youll understand. If you voted for Hillary whatever I don't really care, but posting somthong just so you can attack them is just low, it's a sad day to be a transformers fan. I may leave the site.

I at first thought this was supposed to be satirical, and thought it was funny as a joke, but sadly it was a sly way to find people to attack.... SAD. Sorry just had to do it.

I agree with you, I myself voted for Trump, but thats not important, this is supposed to be, like you said, a site for transformers fans and that it should be apolitical. However I am still considering leaving the site.
