But the main reason I'm mad, is that they set up a completely logical ending point for this universe which we will now never see a payoff for: UNICRON.
As pointed out by someone else, this is Unicron as Earth,
like Transformers Prime. Still, they just needed one more film to wrap up the story. That and Mark Wahlberg and his new girlfriend (maybe wife?) returning as the main human characters. I also would not mind if possible bringing back Sam to help finish the story and bring it full circle (or have him killed off-screen and make that important to the plot.
The movies weren't perfect but I enjoyed them.
Age of Extinction is my favorite but I did greatly enjoy
The Last Knight. I don't know why they took the huge risk to introduce Unicron after 4 films and instead keep that weird stuff out completely and end the movie with
Cybertron orbiting the Earth as a second moon instead of
tethered to the Earth. The former would have fit well with Prime's final speech IIRC and have been a fitting end to this film series.
Instead we are stuck with the latter ending, a cliffhanger that should be resolved with one last film. That film development and release would give the new team time to figure out and begin to execute the reboot without insulting our long term investment with no real ending.
