Name aside, wouldn't, for lack of a better word "Legends" Guzzle still be purple since Takara Tomy goes with screen accuracy over original toy accuracy. Seems like either way they wouldn't be making him green. If you're talking about the mold and not the colors we don't actually know what the figure will look like (leaked image might be photoshopped), just that it'll be based on Slash. Really just needs the front of the dino replaced at the hinge, I think they could fit something that resembles the original figure inside his back.

New head at the very least. Legends Class figures don't get anything beyond that in most cases, but I can see the raptor head being replaced.

I feel like :HASBRO: is missing a huge opportunity with the Prime Masters to release an Alpha Trion decoy armor with Vector Sigma Prime Master. Unless I'm wrong and we will be getting that.

I guess I'm bringing that up because I got my first PM today, Liege Maximo with Skullgrin decoy armor. I think the claw weapon might work well with TR Megatron.

I don't know why HTS split my order in two boxes 3-1 but I wasn't expecting anything until at least midweek so I look at this as a pleasant surprise.

Vector Prime wouldn't be too happy about that ;) But I do see your point. Wouldn't be the first time Vector Sigma would be given a robot mode:

Mine is from batch 72911, and it doesn't have the "fix." I honestly am not sure what the big deal is with this "fix" anyway. It doesn't seem to make a difference in robot mode. In fact, having that fix to put the peg into the hole would make the wings sit non-parallel with the back and probably put some strain on them as well. I can make the jet mode fit together just fine, and I don't see how it would help the torso mode at all, honestly. I wouldn't return yours if it doesn't have the revised peg hole unless you are having legitimately big problems with it.

Honestly, this wasnt even a problem I felt worth highlighting in the review compared to all the other negatives this toy had. They were better off finding a way for the back of the jet not to split.

:HASBRO: could still do Vector Prime in Metalhawk decoy armor. If anything would be replaced by this idea it would be Alpha Trion in Landmine decoy armor:

The PM symbol would have hopefully taken after this:

Image

At the very least since :HASBRO: colored Alpha Trion to match Landime they could have made his PM sybol look like Vector Sigma. I would have been OK with that compromise (still would have like a little Alpha Trion decoy armor that maybe turned into a sword).

It makes so much more sense to have gone the way of Vector Sigma with Alpha Trion decoy armor that turns into a sword because Alpha Trion was the second key to Vector Sigma that gave life to the Aerialbots in the two part episode The Key to Vector Sigma. How did :HASBRO: miss that in a trilogy of toy lines that pay so much homage to G1?

Also, I don't care for Alpha Trion's PM symbol so this may be another Prime Master I skip because it doesn't seem to fit my requirements.

Oh well.

So I tried using Skillgrin as Liege Maximo Skullgrin Breaker (talk about a mouthful to reference Nemesis Breaker, if someone has a shorter name before "Breaker" I'm all ears) but the handle on Skullgrin is just a little too small and loose (maybe :HASBRO: overcompensated for some Titan Master handles being too tight?) and would not work.

However, I found a temporary solution: I wrapped the handle in a little Scotch tape. Longer term I think I'll have to coat the handle with floor polish unless someone can direct me to a better idea.

For now, pics:

I didn't think the claw weapon would work and then I remembered Transformers: Energon. Now I think it was a great idea! ;)^

My potp Starscream showed up yesterday from HTS. It was batch number 72921 so it did not have the "fix" but as others said it's not a big deal. Honestly if we didn't know there was a revised version out there I doubt anyone would've noticed an issue in the first place.

As for my thoughts on him, I like him more than I thought I was going to. I saw him at a toysrus a week ago but I passed at the time and just picked up Grimlock and I'm glad I did because I got him $10 cheaper. Robot mode isn't as terrible as pictures lead you to believe but there are major proportion issues. His head is too small (but it is a good sculpt) forearms are too big (which could easily have looked better if the outer piece was any color other than blue) and of course the moon boots. There was no reason that the calves had to be that big and there's definitely no reason that the toe had to be just as big. The whole thing needs to be cut down by like 20%. He does pose nicely though and can look pretty intimidating.

Jet mode is hot garbage though. It's hard to peg together and just looks bad from any angle other than looking at it from above.

Torso is pretty cool, I like how it's an homage to the movie design. Still feel the head is a bit small and could've done with a more expressive face sculpt but I do love got it's just Starscream with a crown. Given the characters personality it honestly wouldn't work any other way.

All in all he's actually pretty decent and having experienced him in hand I feel a lot better about potential seeker repaints. And with him having arrived I've completed wave 1. Every figure from the line so far I've seen in actual stores so if you're still on the hunt keep looking they're definitely out there.

I have now, through purchases for myself, and for my sons, completed wave one of PotP, even have doubles of several. From here on out, even with the characters I have collections of, I do not think I will be adding mainline figures to my collections, unless Hasbro returns to the earlier days of the Generations line.

Basically, these toys are for kids, the collectors market is a distant secondary consideration.

And I'm okay with that.

See, I hate these figures, most of them, but my kids love them. They think they are great, and I am getting deep joy watching them play with the dinobots. They don't care much for Rodimus, Jazz, or Starscream, but love the mini cons, and think Prime and Dreadwing are great. Its just sad how downhill Hasbro's quality has gone, as these figures break extremely easy.

Anyway, here at my thoughts on the two newest figures I've gotten:

Grimlock, like Starscream, could have been a great figure, but is severely limited by the combiner gimmick. Robot mode is okay, but the dinosaur mode, much like Prime's truck mode, is just trash. When I handed it to my dino nerd son, first thing he said is "that's not what a T-rex looks like, dad". He still loves the toy though. Its great for kids, but I would still like to get a GOOD updated Grimlock for my non Masterpiece collection.

Rodimus, again, suffers from the limitations of his gimmick. It would have been much better served to just make a Rodimus figure out of the whole truck, instead of the detachable Hot Rod car/figure. All modes come close, but none quite reach the level of passable. I hate this figure. It is on my Rodimus shelf, but only because my kids didn't want it.

To those of you who like and enjoy this line, I tip my hat to you. Keep that magic alive, and I'll hopefully see you in the various Masterpiece threads. I don't want to keep stinking this place up with negativity, so I will be trying hard to keep my thoughts to myself. Enjoy!

I will leave on a positive note. For all this lines failures and mistakes, of which there are many, it does one thing extremely well: The head sculpts are simply devine.

I got my Prime Masters from Taiwan from eBay seller animetropolis and the listing states that it's a 100 % authentic Hasbro product but I trust nobody for 100 %. And the plastic of the back part of all of my three Prime Masters of wave 01 feels pretty brittly / cheap / KO-ish. So is that the case with others', too? Ones which where bought in the US for example.

Postby TF-fan kev777 » Sun Jan 21, 2018 3:58 pm

So I finally had a chance to fully check out and enjoy the 2 wave 1 Leaders and here are my thoughts. I definitely like Optimus Prime better than Rodimus Prime.

I was originally going to skip both as from photos they just looked kinda meh to me. Then as some of the feedback from other members here started coming in, I decided to take a look at them while on the hunt. I found OP and the robot mode just looked so sweet, I couldn't resist. I'm glad I decided to buy him. This lead me to giving RP a chance, who I'm still just kind of meh on.

OP
Best modes are both robot modes. Very nice on both. Even with the grey fists, I really love the leader bot mode the best. I have plenty of OP figures that are pretty decent, but needed a decent Leader class bot for the generations shelf and this really fits perfectly. The Orion Pax deluxe bot feels like a bonus on a really good Leader figure, as opposed to a forced gimmick (even though it is). They really incorporated it nicely for the bot modes.

Truck mode definitely has it issues. I really don't mind the trailer, but wish they would have given it a stand for when it is detached instead of having it as a falling over trailer. The cab mode is bad. Not so terrible that I hate the figure overall, but, yeah, not good. The real shame is they only needed to add a folding panel or 2 to his arms to box in the back of the cab and it could have been decent or even good.

Despite the shortcomings of the cab, I love the figure overall and I'm glad I bought it.

RP
I'm actually having trouble picking a best mode. Not because they are all great, because I can't pick which one has the least of the flaws. I guess the space winnebago mode is the "best" for me, but that might be because never had a version RP with a trailer. I already hate the flame stickers on the trailer as they are hang over the curved edge just a little so that I can hear/feel them every time I run my hand across it druing transformation. The deluxe car mode looks way too flat to me. The TR car is much more interesting and fun to me. The Hot Rod bot is good, no real complaints there, but nothing that really speaks to me. Again I kind of like the TR deluxe better.

The Leader bot is a nice bulky bruiser, which I like, but the thighs as collarbones/shoulders just looks weird in most poses. Really bad backpack. Normally backpacks don't bother me if they look like an important part of the alt mode kibble (i.e. T30 Sandstorm). This is jut a big open box.
Both bot headsculpts are really nice, but not enough to offset the other shortcomings.

On top of this, I had to return the first RP I found as he was missing one of the red flip out heel pieces. The second one I found was complete, but the collectors card was not in an envelope, just loose, which is a weird packaging error.

So, I'm somewhere between regret and don't care on RP, but loving OP. Also, despite not loving RP, I will be getting the Unicronus version, as I'll always get more cons.

If Leader Evolution OP goes on some crazy sale I'll get him. Otherwise I don't collect leaders. I'm hoping for the crazy sale. I just wish :HASBRO: would make a Power Master style version with slots for the Prime Masters to insert into the grills in both modes (or just get rid of the trailer grill in robot mode). That is my dream figure. A true PM OP like the one I have from when I was a kid. I'd rather have the cab become the smaller Optimus than Orion Pax. However, like I said, if there is a crazy sale like what we saw this past holiday season with Sixshot I won't pass that up.

It's all good. Not like I read anything negative from the comment. I can get a little too literal sometimes if that helps. ;)^

Do you mean like this?

I was talking with Carytheone about this the other day. I didn't even know this was an intended configuration.
Lesson learned? Sometimes it pays to look at the instructions!
Haven't tried it in combined mode yet, but I bet it adds some nice stability.

Oh Dear.
Also that's Awesome! :-D :michaelbay:

I tested the new feet (sans fist added on) with my Superion and with a cross assembled Volcanicus. I also tested the feet with the fist added on. These new feet don't need that extra fist at least the way I pose my figures, and it looks terrible in hand having that much massive heal spur hanging off the back (just my personal opinion about the look). I guess this will come down to what you need from your foot and if you set up your gestalt to be back heavy. In my experience they are front heavy, so I have no plans on making the super foot for any of my combinations.

I will of course let you know if that changes in the future when I get my hands on Elita-1 to take over for Silverbolt for a while.

I got Optimus Prime over the weekend. I absolutely love him. Just a fantastic figure.

Alpha Trion can have Alpha Trion as an head. Don't think too much about it! Honestly this kinda make me wish AT had gotten an assigned Pretender character who matched his color, rather than Landmine, so one could have slotted in a matching Prime Master as a head on his Titans Return body.

Sorry, when news is slow, is when I tend to go of into my goofy theories, and numbers extrapolations. Based on my previous comments about the elimination of Skrapnel from :TAKARATOMY: PotP I believe I *may* have discovered a reason.

To date there are 39 known individual Transformers in the PotP line (Exclusing the Titan Class Predaking)

subtract 1 from this and you get 38. If you divide 38 1/2 =19, the number of known PotP releases by :TAKARATOMY: in the first 3 months (May, June July). based on this, I am *predicting* in August they will announce:

9 releases For Late August
Alpha Trion
Battle Clash
Read Trap
Tail Gate
Hun-Gurr
Blot
Cutthroat
Sinnertwin &
Rippersnapper

6 releases for Late September
Megatronus
Quintus Prime
Solus Prime
Outback
Rodimus Unicronus &
Optimal Optimus

4 releases for Late October
Cindersaur
Elita 1
Inferno
Novastar

So by this time, :TAKARATOMY: could potentially have caught up with :HASBRO: releases of the line. (Wave 1 was slated for December 2017, which did hit most areas but has until March to fully saturate, Wave 2 is scheduled for April 2018, and wave 3 July 2018) Of course I still maintain there is a chance :TAKARATOMY: will skip on Rodimus Unicronus. I expect Taoyfare next month to have :HASBRO: Predaking be there big reveal, as well as most of wave 3. Also since there is no Hascon in the fall, I expect SDCC to mostly focus on the line for the Bumblebee movie (yawn..), but hopefully at that time we will know if PotP will have more life left, or if this is it.

Of course if there are some reveals along the way not shown in last summers leak, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak
