I kind of hope this Select Series pans out and throws a few more Combiner limbs our way in general. 4 more decepticons, and maybe give us some more 84/85 cars.

Nice! I keep forgetting how cool a name like "Firestormer" is, but I still like "Infernocus" I need a cooler one for my Lost Light guys, but no inspiration yet.

I feel that ricochet is totally logical too since in the deluxe department I think Jazz was the only one to not share any tooling with another figure in the line. All the beasts were kind of related, and then there was the Dreadwing bros as aerialbots and the ladies. Jazz is entirely unique with regards to CW/PotP limb bots in tooling and transformation.

mordhelm wrote:Just curious how it is going to throw your combiners off? Did you miss some figures? Or collect TFSS or UW variants too?

Just wondering because if you collected all the mass release figures (including exclusives) until now, you should have "full" teams of Decepticons (multiples of 4) and 2 spare Autobots (right now Rook and Alpha Bravo for me).

I'll list mine off here:

I know you didn't ask, but I'll list my "Grand Plan", for 30 unique combiners. Keep in mind I don't have all of these, but I have most. Also ALL have a 6th legends class member (except Devastator and Predaking), which I wont list at this time, just for simplicity sake.

"Heroic Combiners"
1. Superion (UW01)
2. Defensor (UW03)
3. Convoy Grand Prime (UW05)
4. Optimus Maximus (CW Battle Core Optimus Prime, Alpha Bravo, Smokescreen, G2 Ratchet & (missing 1))
5. Victiorion (CW Box Set)
6. Wreckage (TFSS 5.0 & 6.0)
7. Mangaboss (BC2016)
8. Betatron (CW Computron Box Set)
9. Computron (UW08)
10.Lynxmaster (UWEX)
11.G2 Superion (CW Box Set)
12.Modulus
13.Volcanicus
14.Elita-Infin1te (Elita-1, Moonracer, Novaster & (missing 2))
15.Infernac (Inferno, Jazz, Wreck-Gar, Riccochet & (missing 1)

"Evil Combiners"
1. Menasor (UW02)
2. Devastator (UW04)
3. Grand Galvatron (UW06)
4. Bruticus (UW07)
5. Grand Scourge (UW EX Grand Scourge, Offroad, SG Ratchet, CW Blastoff, CW Vortex)
6. Megatronia (UWEX)
7. Baldigus (UW EX)
8. Thunder Mayhem (TFCC 5.0)
9. Predacus (BC2016)
10.LioKaiser (CW Box Set)
11.G2 Menasor (CW Box Set)
12.G2 Bruticus (CW Box Set)
13.Predaking (PotP Box Set)
14.Abominus
15.King Starscream (PotP Starscresm, Dreadwind, Blackwing, BC2016 Terrorsaur & GL Starscream renamed "Sunstorm")

This plan successfully integrates every truly unique combiner used thus far from this system, however as you can see, there are 4 heroic missing deluxes to attain the symmetry I desire.

If it helps anyone, you can always think of the extra torso bots the same way as the extra limbs bots, as auxiliary members.

Like Rook and Alpha Bravo are additional members of their teams, Inferno and Starscream could also be extra members. If Hot Spot or Onslaught go down in battle, these two could form the center and still complete Defensor and Bruticus. That's why their supposed gestalts weren't given a name. Because they don't form a new robot, they're a backup member of an existing combiner.

I mean, we know at least some of the tooling exists, given the Wildfly head and the Bristleback guns we saw with Hascon/NYCC samples, so it should happen at some point. I can get Hasbro not releasing a bunch of combiner limb repaints of previously non-combiner characters (even if I want them to), but skipping a whole combiner who hasn't been updated since G1 would be a seriously questionable decision on their part, especially given the ceaseless G1 focus with their current product releases.

You're right Wolfman Jake, I was forgetting that. Because you said "two" and so my mind kinda went to the larger ones. #-o That said, Metalhawk doesn't have a US counterpart that's just the same thing in different colors with no mold tweaks. (I notice we haven't had a Minerva or Goshooter or Ranger). If it came down to it, I would prefer Hydra and Buster to get the LGEX treatment. Because hopefully their combined mode could get some much-needed improvement.

Has anyone photographed Volcanicus with Landfill yet?

Monstructor might be held up by debate over how to handle his torso. He is a G1 Combiner, but he's a six-member one like Devastator, Raiden, and Liokaiser (Piracon/King Poseidon don't fully count because the 6th is a weapon). So, what do they do? Work hard to develop a Deluxe Slog and Birdbrain who can form a torso for CW-style limbs? Shoehorn him into being a five-member one like they did with Liokaiser? And if so, does Slog get made the torso or does Birdbrain?

Given that the Combiner Wars combination scheme is an update of the "Scramble City" style from G1, the combiner team I think it would be really dumb to skip is the Seacons. Rippersnapper's mold could be used for Overbite and possibly Skalor/Gulf as well, and hopefully Snaptrap/Turtler is indeed Hun-Gurr's alternate as people speculate.

* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

Di Bonaventura is not a credible or trustworthy source. And most fans do like the diversity push, thanks.

Oh believe me, I not only agree with this but also would be much more excited for a new Piranacon than a new Monstructor. But since we have much more proof of a planned Monstructor than a new Piranacon, I figured I wouldn't add him to the current conversation.

I REALLY REALLY want both Piranacon, and Monstructor. But hey I want a Raiden, a Dinoking, Roadcaesar and Landcross as well...

But Monstructor holds a special place because I believe the original toy was way too small. Of course I know this was for the sake of practicality, and a problem with all pretenders. If you look at 3P FP Surus-Ryu-Oh (Dinoking) and Beastructor (Monstructor), and the pretender molds they made for both the Dino and monster versions, they are just huge rubbery bricks, but are way too expensive and impractical IMHO, which I'm glad they developed them completely separately.

I would just love for a box set inspired by IDW's take on Monstructor (something I dont often say), no pretender shells needed, also I'd love for him to be sized similar to Devastator & Predaking (45cm/18 inches) something else I don't often say. Also if I knew it was going to be the Titan toy for 2021, (the 3rd part of the current Trilogy), I'd be willing to wait for it.

In IDW Monstructor had a past battle with Omega Supreme, so making him Omega's ancient Rival (as opposed to Devastator being Omega's current one) makes sense to me, have to scale him up to size.

IN any case, the announcement of these "PotP Select" gives me some hope, where before there was none.

They are! But they're about the same as Wreck Gar and the helicoptor dudes. It's not bad! Tomorrow, i will try this configuration on Elita, though I far prefer her as her own figure. Same with Inferno, but he's a Defensor torso that I love, and Elita is perfect in robot mode.

Also, i edited my post 3 posts ago since somehow the first combined mode image didn't make it to that post

I think it may be more Jazz than the foot. I have Jazz as a leg on Optimus Maximus borrowing Prowl's HFG and it is also pretty loose, not falling off, but close.

For those curious, I moved Jazz to Optimus Maximus, so that I could move prowl to Inferno/Firestormer. I have UW Lynx Master with CW Smokescreen replacing Ratchet and Ratchet also going to Inferno along with Alpha Bravo and Rook to have all white rescue/emergency limbs.

Inferno's feet work just fine with Prowl and Alpha Bravo, so I think the issue may be with Jazz instead of the feet.

Thanks Good to know. This makes sense as Jazz seemed to work as an arm, I plan to have Jazz as an arm eventually. Jazz and Riccochet will be Inferno's arm's just need another deluxe to come out so I can have another stable leg.

I've got two PotP Jazz figures. For one of them, the foot holds VERY loosely, as it does for you. The foot piece almost spins around freely when pegged into that hole. The slightest jostle will make it fall out. On my other figure, the fit between the peg on the foot and the hole in the back of the car mode is MUCH more secure. I think it's just a "your mileage may vary" kind of QC issue, unfortunately. Put a little scrap of paper in the hole for the foot before you peg it in, specifically such that the paper lays against the cylindrical wall of the hole. That should help tighten up that connection without permanently altering either your figure or the foot piece.

Out of curiousity, pre- or post-MAGA?

Both are without the "MAGA" tampograph.
