I can confirm having both those issues on the one I had and sold a while ago. They are also present on the Nemesis Prime version but not as bad as on OP.

Thanks. Kind of sad this is the case. Outside of that, I’m having a blast with it.

It is a really fun mold, the panel-forming for the legs and arms is really satisfying as well as the click you mentioned when you slide in the balled up Pax.

Yup. a lot of fun.

If I were to grade them, I think Rodimus is still the best overall.
Then this guy, and then Optimal Optimus in last, even though the robot and monkey meds are really good and I love it. The integration of small Primal is just non-existant. You can totally knock out the pin holding Primal to the front of the skateboard and have him stand on his own without affecting the beast or robot modes at all.

I may just do that.

All in all, all 3 are pretty fun figures to mess with.

I have been struck with an idea!

Since I missed out on most of the POTP Dinobots, I have been strongly considering getting the Takara Selects release of Volcanicus. However, I did still manage to acquire two of the POTP ones, these being Sludge and Swoop. Putting Sludge aside for now, I just hit upon an idea that will enable me to use Swoop as a different character while the Takara Selects toy gets to be the real Swoop.

Image

I also managed to get Selects Red Swoop, but I have a plan for him as well.

Selects Red Swoop

Image

Selects Red Swoop is Marvel Swoop, who later becomes known as "The Veteran" by the Beast Era.

Image

He forms an arm of the Inferno combiner, whose name I'm stealing a fellow fan to name him Safeguard.

Takara Selects Swoop

Image

Takara Selects Swoop is Cartoon Swoop, dumb cave-speak and all.

Image

He forms an arm of Volcanicus.

POTP Swoop

Image

POTP Swoop, with his blue torso, dark helmet, red fin, black shoulders, and silver chest stripes is... Armada Ravenus!

Image

He can function on his own as a standalone piece, or form a limb for another combiner should I come up with the need for one.

If we're counting Swoop alone, Sabrblade covered them all: PotP (blue), Hasbro Selects (red), and TakaraTomy Volcanicus Selects (cartoon).

Ok, so I caved and will be getting both Selects Volcanicus and Abominus. While I wont count them as seperate characters from the PotP versions, I'd be interested to know if there is any way to justify them as such

For instance, in my head canon there are actually 3 different Scattershots. The CW single release is part of Modulus. The Hasbro CW Computron is what I call Betatron, and finally the UW version is the proper and true Computron.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

The Prime Predacon Terrorcons were repurposed for G1, so one could go the other direction for the PotP ones. As for Volcanicus... I know Energon had Mega-Dinobot, maybe work from there? :-?

So I finally decided to buy the SDCC exclusive Throne of the Primes. It cost me around 160$CAN including taxes and shipping from Amazon.jp. But thinking about it, he's basically a "commander" if I count the extra stuff so I can cope with the overall price. I never bought the leader POTP Optimal Optimus so it's my first time with the mold.

Here's my impressions.

Image

Right out of the box, it feels good to handle a BIG leader for once, even if he's a bit hollow in places. I won't use the Throne but I'll certainly will not throw it away along the box.

The big bot is impressive and he command POWER. I didn't expect him to come with 4 prime-masters. I'm glad that he can have his full staff. Despite the fact that his crown can't be used in other modes, I'm glad it's there. This Optimal Optimus looks glorious like a king!

I know he can do the shoulder canon thing but in this mode, he looks way better with "fuller" legs.

Image

I looked up the Reprolabels stickers for him and IMO, the "upgrade" is unjustified. The default stickers on him looks good and enhance the right details with no oversaturation.

The surfing ape mode is cool! For this mode, I "transformed" his shoulder pilons instead of swapping them to his forearms. It looks great.

Image

I really love the mini primal. A Primal that can only change into some cargo ship. Am I crazy to wish for more BW characters who'll gets vehicle modes?

Image

Speaking of vehicle, the "vehicle" is just Optimal doing the "Superman" as it should be. It still look stupid but eh, it's there.

Image

Despite some hollow bits and some parts popping off (and back on) too easily like the thumbs and the leg wings, I think that set is worth the money. He's special, looks amazing in his "G1 BW" colors (I skipped on the regular version because I don't like the original's colors), and he's GLORIOUSLY ROYAL. He's also easy and fun to mess with.

Nice, glad you finally got him. I lugged mine around for 3 months in a back pack over Japan. though it was lugging around a third party toy that nearly got me cavity searched at one point.

I skipped regular version with it lacking all of its modes and the price of paying for third party add ons on top to make it 'complete'. didnt really think king monkey needed the add ons though, he just gets to sit on his throne and ook.

I still technically need Predaking to complete the prime master wheel. The lack of availabilty on them and the size kind of put me off but they might go better with SS86 dinobots or oversized potp kos.

I know it's just the pre-Transmetal body colors, but that dark-colored deco combined with the crown, scepter, and throne just gives him a truly villainous, dictatorial look to me. Like if Optimus Primal went truly off the rails and conquered Cybertron for himself, ruling it with an iron fist.

Or like an "Optimal Nemesis Primal" or something.

It also kinda fits with how the other two POTP Leader class molds each got their own black villainous redecos.

Congrats on getting him. He's the only version of that mold I've had any interest in, due to having the Prime Masters, throne, and scepter to make up for the lost mode.

Oh HELL YEAH! That's what's so appealing to me.

I bet Optimal Optimus will have a Commander redo sooner or later. I may get that one once it's out. But as a "NEMESIS" Optimal Optimus, that one is just perfect, like the ER Netflix Spoiler Pack was for ER Leader Optimus Prime.

And that's what I use mine as too. Either as an evil clone, or as an Optimus gone bad like how TLK and Netflix did that with Nemesis formerly being Optimus.

Though, for a time, I was calling him "Imperious Primal".

I did like that mold a lot, and those colors are really nice. I like the SDCC colors the most on that mold, especially with the crown and a scepter. My scepter holds the 13th Prime and the 3 clear prime masters from the exclusive deluxes. Love it. and I actually do use the thrown for him, it's a good look
