Speaking of evolution...

I can't take all the credit for that idea, I've seen it going around a lot with respect to the Evolution gimmick (add onto that the fact that he was on the Prime Poll, and I think he's got a pretty solid case if there's gonna be a Decepticon Leader in this line).

Hate to take the fun out of it, but I think the only characters being considered for the Evolution gimmick are those that are highly recognisable, have evolution as a well-known part of their character and/or make sense as Leader-scale figures. When you think of the Insecticons or Thundercracker, one doesn't often naturally think "was turned into Scourge/Sweeps" as a main detail of the character. Contrast Hot Rod, or Orion Pax - those guys' characters are practically defined by the fact that they became someone else.

Admittedly, Primal is a bit of an outlier to the formula so far, but 1) he's a Prime (sorta) and 2) Leader-scale makes sense for Optimal Optimus. If we were gonna see any Minions of Unicron as Evolution Leaders, my money would definitely be on a Megatron-to-Galvatron; but as I mentioned before, even that seems a bit unlikely to me given what we know.

Of course, that doesn't mean we can't have some fun coming up with ideas that could have been done! If we're really going crazy (i.e. not a single chance of it happening), I'd like to see an Overhaul-to-Leobreaker Evolution figure. Scale might be a little weird of course but I reckon the toy would be pretty cool, and Overhaul/Leobreaker is one of those characters that I wish would've ended up in the Classics-verse in the same way as Lugnut and Lockdown did later on - it's a cool character idea that we never really saw before or since, and I'd have liked to see more of it!

who says it absolutly has to be the evolution gimmick for the leaders, i could see G2 Dreadwing and Smokescreen fitting in the new Leader class nicely. Naming wouldnt even be an issue with Dreadwing and Blackwing

It really does. The Maximals and Predacons were all smaller than their Autobot and Decepticon ancestors, except for Optimal Optimus. The original BW Primal style works as a smaller counterpart.

Bumblebee --> Goldbug is illogical because he don't become bigger when evolving. The whole fact that one become BIGGER is the main point I think.

Also, Starsaber is a bot-inside-abot-inside-a-bot from the start so he should be the really logical for the gimmick. But he lost the poll so...

I'm still hopeful for a Star Saber. I really want one and I'd like a leader figure from the line of him.

Though Thunderwing would be the most logical Decepticon choice really

My theory was that the final three Leaders would be Star Saber, Ultra Magnus, and Deathsaurus, so all 4 of the 2nd rounders would get figures. Reasons why:
1. Deathsaurus was the runner up, and was one of the names on a rumor list that has been proven to be very credible.
2. Star Saber is Deathsaurus's main rival, and his gimmick works perfectly with this toy line.
3. Magnus could be retool of Optimus with a new trailer (they could even retool Pax into Minimus Ambus) and like Star Saber, his gimmick works perfectly with the toy line.

You do realize that there are never that many unique Leader class molds per line, right?

Thrilling 30 had 1 Leader mold

Combiner Wars had 3 Leader molds

Titans Return had 4 Leader molds

As of this typing, we already know of 3 unique Leader molds to come in Power of the Primes, with strong implications of a 4th one to come later in the line. There's no way they'd make Leader class figures for all of those proposals you've raised as that would take at least 11 unique Leader molds to accomplish, which is well out of Hasbro's league to pull off given their recent history with Leader class molds.

And yes, depending on how the Phase Sixers are to anyone they could go with either scale. I personally always saw them as big as Megs, so IDW-ish.

Everytime Hasbro has spoken of leaders at any show, its always been about them evolving.
Plus all 3 also dealing with the Matrix too (the very same Matrix depending on your take on things). Like Orion Pax getting the matrix and becoming Prime, Hot Rod getting the matrix and becoming Rodimus and even Optimus Primal getting Prime's matrix/spark and becoming Optimal Optimus.

Not saying there is no chance for anything else, but Hasbro hasnt commented on anything aside the idea of evolution so far.

I think most likely (and least satisfying), we're gonna see a white Orion Pax that 'evolves' into Ultra Magnus - that way no-one's happy, except Hasbro who save some money on tooling!

The matrix attachment is another reason why I'd like to see a leader Thunderwing in PotP.

meh, wouldn't surprise me if someone somewhere is already working with the idea for on an upgrade kit for this very purpose.

Was just about to say the same! Matrix Quest was such a good arc imo.

Just to throw a fresh idea out there though- does anyone think we could maybe see both Saber and Thunders from the same base figure? A heavy remold for sure, or even just shared engineering (we know HasTak are getting more and more inventive on that front, look at Black Shadow/Overlord!) but both of them would be jets-inside-bigger-jets. It's two characters that fit the line really well, were both in the poll, and would allow HasTak to get away with technically less new leader molds for more new leader figures. Or maybe I'm just getting my hopes up...

And hey! If we're talking impossible POTP ideas, let's have an Armada Smokescreen ==> Hoist. Sure, it was a rebuild, but it'd be too ridiculous to pass up. Hell, retool the front a bit and swap the trailers crane for a gun, you could maybe figure out an Energon Landmine from it too! Man, this gimmick leaves so much room for nonsense pipe dreams

Honestly I'm expecting Star Saber/Thunderwing down the line on the basis that these two could easily share a mold, with Star Saber doing the whole "BATTLE UP!" gimmick by combining his smaller spaceship with a big booster. This design could easily be made into Thunderwing, with two possible options: inner robot-to-pretender-design OR normal Thunderwing-into-monstrous-comic-Thunderwing.

If there is a Star Saber it would be nice to have Deathsaurus to go with him but I'm not entirely sure how he could be done in Leader class to fit the gimmick except maybe having his 'Breastforce' buddies (or at least one of them) plug into his chest.

I believe the prophecy went that he would become Goldbug then Goldfire and Race-Welder.

I suppose if they ever wanted to establish Race-Welder, an evolution gimmick would be a way to do that.

Transformers Devastation. Inside Nova Prime's ship, the Proudstar, the supercomputer Teletraan Alpha predicts the future of the five playable Autobots (Prime, Bee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock). In Bumblebee's case, it has this to say:

I think it's meant to be a title than an actual name; much like "The World's Bridge". Heck, both are similar in that they refer to his more peaceful, friendly nature and that he likes to bring people together.

I'd say Star Saber and Thunderwing would be the two most logical choices for Leaders in POTP, Thunderwing especially with the Matrix connection. But of course, Hasbro could always troll us and make Thunderwing into Amalgamous Prime's decoy suit.

Star Saber and Thunderwing being retools could work. and it would bring 2 really cool characters into leader class scale (Thunderwing has really needed that and Star Saber needs a generations toy badly)

Deathsaurus, Thunderwing, hell Bludgeon are all perfect candidates for PotP. Megatron/Galvatron too.

Leader-Class Bludgeon... hmmm. Not sure how much I want it.
