I just hope he gets a Western release and isn't stuck as some sort of japan-only import. It would just feel wrong to not have one of the original Autobot Pretenders. Well that and I may or may not be slowly tearing apart and repainting spare Titans Return figures for the Pretender robot modes... (Pics in the customization forum once I'm satisfied).

And unfortunately we dont get a all dark blue copter but Alpha Bravo will finally have a purpose to exist.

G2 FTW :michaelbay:

You can always borrow the Baldigus copter to make it happen.

I totally forgot about Ruination. But he cant be without an arm. So I will keep an eye on ebay to see if anyone broke up a set providing that Wreck Gar is confirmed. Such a shame we didn't get a real G2 Defensor.

The tooling exists, so he will be released because otherwise we'll be missing a Prime. We have 12 Primes to release, and with them 12 Pretender Shells (I know, they're called "Decoy Suits"), and right now, thanks to leaks, we're missing only 3.

Given these include Metalhawk, Bludgeon and Octopunch its clear they are picking from far more than the first batch of Pretenders, meaning odds are we'll get a hodge-podge mix of Pretenders from all across the gimmick. That said, I've checked and it does look like Waverider/Diver cast in transparent blue plastic so I can hope he's in a later wave.

That was confirmed by hasbro in an interview. All mainline deluxes and voyagers are combining.

Kurona wrote:Curious, where did these Wreck-Gar Groove rumours come from?

A listing on a Walgreens computer.

megatronus wrote:On a side note -

Did anyone else notice that Starscream's torso mode somewhat resembles his Bayhem movie body? Not sure if that's an intention nod.

We wont know till we ask, but we know its happened in the past. Like how Prime starscream intentionally has Movie starscream's face across his chest.

megatronus wrote:But I'm a poo-stirrer. Also, I'm irrationally into the podcast wager ScottyP made about Hun-Grr NOT being a retool ;)

Since he can use his own definition of what a retool is, he can always say it isnt a retool to him. I dont think any of you will win if this thread is anything to go by.

I had something longer to say about how if two figures are designed at the same time, then one isnt based on the other (like a lot of CW) and thus doesnt work with the only definiton to a retool out there but I am as tired as Scotty is about this now. Hence why I do look forward to that discussion on the podcast. How many beers will Scotty have to drink to get into the retool conversation :-?

ExciKaiser wrote:While talking of this : We can now post them again ? as everything which was on the leask is now revealed ?

Nope, we still havent gotten a reveal or leak of Cindersaur and a ton of movie stuff. Plus if we want to discuss what was leaked and is now better revealed, then we have better pics to use in our discussion rather than placeholder images that give no indication of the final product.

Plus Hasbro said no and we get along, wouldnt want to disrupt that over stuff anybody can still find online somewhere else that doesnt have much importance in the end.

Randomhero wrote:That's ridiculous. Calling something a retool when it's not is ignorance and it just spreads more ignorance. There's plenty of people who won't buy retools because 1. they thinks it's lazy or 2. They already one mold of the figure and don't want to buy it again.

I highly doubt any fan reading us right now would feel so compelled as to completely change their way of thinking. If they want to buy this toy, they will buy it and if not, they wont. Plus, the same could be said in reverse. in the unlikely event that someone is persuaded by a web comment to buy this toy simply because they heard it was a totally new mold, there is no telling how dissapointed they might be when learning of the very similar transformation and tooling since their definition of a retool might differ from yours.

I personally am a bit saddened that since this toy is based on Silverbolt (which I believe it is), I can already predict the transformation and wont behold the same amount of awe when transforming it. Still buying it though (if Toysrus is till around in Canada), that combiner will look amazing.

Anyways, I came all the way here to say 2 completely different things:

1. Man, should I buy chromia now, we are getting all her friends
2. really not impressed with Moonracer's torso just straight up being the back of the car

Yes, even Dreadwind and Darkwing, I believe. They do both come with the crappy new combiner hand. I mean armor.

Actually, that gives me a few slightly different thoughts. I'm guessing the Darkwing/Dreadwind Combo uses the combiner peg from one of them, meaning the other has both a peg and a port. I'm wondering if you can fanmode both of them into a funky misshapen arm or leg.

Also, for the one with both a peg and a port, can they combine with any of the other figures, say maybe the arielbot jets?

Indeed, I think we can be pretty sure by this point that PotP is basically "Combiner Wars 2.0" and "Titans Return 1.5" both at once - and personally, I'm pretty okay with that!

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Seeing more pics I have to say I'm just not impressed with the deluxes and voyagers in POP. The limbs look same old, same old; the new hands look terrible, the original mold was fine; and the actual figures just look off.
I must respectfully disagree - though admittedly there are a few flaws here and there, I'm still extremely hyped on the whole. Combiner fatigue aside (which I probably also got over quicker than most, since I only ended up with a total of 3 non-Devy combiners), the first couple waves look way more interesting and fun than the equivalent waves of CW. I mean heck, would you rather have 5 jets, 4 cars and a couple trucks - or a wide variety of dinosaurs, monsters and a couple cars and planes for variety? Not saying PotP is going to be mindblowingly incredible, but I know that personally it'll be incredible enough to blow my puny little mind. :P

Also, something about your comment on the hands (not sure what it was about it honestly) finally made it click for me where I'd seen that sort of thing before - combiner hands ending up weird with thumbs on both sides of the hand - FoC Bruticus. This means nothing and contributes nothing, but the familiarity had been shaking around in my head for a while so I wanted to get it out there now that I've finally found the connection.

multiforce. That was a premise of landcross, which each 2 of the 6 member can combine into 1 bigger robot, and then all 6 can also combine into 1 bigger combiner.

All Deluxes come with the standard Combiner Peg, but not all may be assigned to a specific team, becoming extras. Jazz was found on Elita-1, whereas the jets were found on Starscream... along with Rippersnapper. The Dreadwind and BlackwingDarkwing combination is unique to them, but it looks like the back end can connect to any Aerialbot. The wings stay in place tho.

I couldn't care less if I know how to transform it, one of the coolest combiners just got blessed with the most solid CW torso design (qc issues notwithstanding) I cannot wait to get him and his limbs

Blackwing is in back, so I'm wondering if you could still connect him to the back end of Dreadwind even when he is in arm mode and then connect the hand to Blackwind. Kinda like a go-go gadget arm. Then take it a step further with 2 Blackwings and you could give a combiner super extendo arms. Or even stilts if it works in leg mode too. :-?

I don't want to restart an argument. But this is how I see it:

There are 4 types of changes designers make.

1. Repaint - different colors on the same figure. (The 3 Seekers)

2. Retool - same figure with additional or altered parts. (Springer, Sandstorm)

3. Reshell - same core figure and transformation but with the majority of parts replaced. (PM Optimus, Ultra Magnus)

4. Remold - same skeletal structure, but with little to no direct partsharing. (Alpha Trion, Broadside)

I think Hungurr is a remold of Superion. While there is no actual partsharing, the skeletons and silhouettes are very similar. It may make the figure alittle less exciting or original, but the level of effort that goes into changing a jet to a dinosaur-dragon-thing is something I find very impressive.

I am thankful someone is providing their own definitions so we see what they mean.

Also Aphra Trion and Braodside have a lot of parts sharing in my opinion, like a good chunk of this bottom half.

Note: its late and I am very sick right now (but cant sleep) so sorry if any message you read from me is devoid of tact.

These are all your personal fan definitions, there is no set rule aside from the only definition of retool used in the toy industry where remold and retool is interchangeable. anything else, especially since its not agreed upon is the same as fanfiction.

Also Aphra Trion and Braodside have a crap ton of the exact same parts.

Yes, that's why I prefaced it with "how I see it" these are the 4 levels of change that I see happening lately. And the names were just easy for the sake of the example. The four levels of alteration were more important than what they were called. (Although I do feel like we should have a big, site-wide discussion on terminology, just to prevent everyone from arguing semantics.)

I couldn't really think of a good example for number 4, we haven't had too many cases like this. I'm open to suggestion.

Firstly, I didnt see that line preface it for some reason. But regardless it is no reason to be such a jerk as I was. I edited my post above to better reflect what I was incapable of typing at the time for some reason. Its late and I am not feeling well and I thank you for your calm demeaner. Like a lion waiting for the lionesses to come back with his lunch :)

There are 4 types of changes designers make.

We're good man. I was trying to give some context to my opinion and made things confusing.
I hope you get feeling better.

Wouldn't make that much sense to retool those just panels. Besides, the leaks were of such quality that distortions when enlarged could easily occur, then there's Hasbro's penchant for mistransforming.

I'm late to the fun because there were a lot of posts over the weekend. Just wanted to point out that going through all of these posts nobody pointed out that of course Inferno is a retool, he has to be one to incorporate a Prime Master, or in this case the blue Enigma at the end of the ladder.

There's a few more figures from the first three waves that we haven't seen outside of the original leak.

Prime Master Quintus Prime (Bludgeon), Megatronus (Bomb-Burst), and Solus Prime (Octopunch)
Legend class Battleclash, Roadtrap, Tailgate (?) (Windcharger repaint), Cindersaur (Slash repaint), and Outback (?)
Deluxe Novastar

Tailgate and Outback had their names cut off in the picture but are the popular guesses, though Outback could be named Fallback.
