So I have to ask, if you're so against Omega Supreme breaking up into a bunch of different parts then why are you OK with the Energon figure? Sure, it can be turned into a single train, but not without removing the head and splitting the figure into a battleship and construction-thing first.
It was more of an example than anything else, I've never owned any version of that toy. Although being a headmaster with a split-down-the-middle combination is much less partsformery than torso, legs, wings, and arms all breaking off and reassembling into a new configuration with minimal actual transformation. (granted, Energon Omega didn't do a whole lot either but he had the benefit of looking like he turned into somethings)

For example they could have the forearms not separate from the upper arms and shoulders (and therefore not being part of the tank) and have both the left and right sides connected through a part that runs through the torso. The whole thing then can collapse inside the forearms creating a single cohesive rocket. The rest I'm sure can be worked out with enough swing arms and pivots to get everything where it needs to be without being disconnected. I don't really see a problem with the tracks being removed, but I think there's a work around.
Yeah, the rocket arms could be a single piece, similar to how GaoGaiGar's arms work with the train going through the lion torso (although sans-different parts for the gauntlets). I had considered that. All in all though, I'm just really not a fan of G1 Omega's alt mode. I can't find the right words for it but it does nothing for me, and while he has a pretty iconic robot mode, I'm okay with adjustments being made to it to accommodate a more modern alt mode. WFC rode that line pretty well, I think.

Uh, what? It's just the tail and legs and they aren't even obtrusive.

Oh, I meant the other way around. The Scorpion mode has a giant backpack made of the robot's legs.
So as far as this line is concerned, I'm so far only dead set on the terrorcons, and even then I wish they'd modernized their alt modes a bit like the Beast Hunters figures. And Predaking, but that's a given. I might get that Optimus Prime to go with my Combiner Wars Megatron, and I'll get most of the fembots, but while I like the general concepts of this line, most of the characters aren't really of interest to me. Pretenders are gonna be good though.
