This is what I don't understand. If there's a demand for them? Isn't that what we have now?
I bought Bee, Arcee, and Starscream FEs as soon as I saw them a few months ago. I know the stores will only put out what they want. But the way I see it wouldn't they make more money from us if they ordered/stocked the FE prime toys? I'm keeping my fingers cross that we see these molds again. Especially the CJ mold; that one is waaaaaayyy better then the RID version

Like i said before, they might not be talking about the current figures, just other people in the first edition line. You're absolutely right, the FE cj rocks and the other ones are pretty good. trust me, theres still gonna be demand for these for a while. they never said anything about not shipping any more of the current figures, so i still have my hopes

:)) Oh man this is so amazing yet another mind f*ck for the fans! I don't care for most of these figs and to hell with the show but when I heard of the current bull-mess I was thrilled that I ordered Vehicon from TFSource when I did. Everyone enjoy this tasty sh*t sandwich you all have been served and don't be afraid to ask for seconds! :VEHI:

This may actually be the poorest business bumbling I have ever seen.

Create two distinct molds for the same characters.

Release one set in very limited quantities.

Release the second set a few months later, and both sets long after the debut of the corresponding series.

It's worse than the fumbling around the release of TF:A.

Oh Hasbro, will you never learn?

I spoke to Toyz and Gamez today, who has also been in touch with Andy from Kapow (and vaguely with BBTS). Apparently their supplier has not cancelled any pre-orders for the FE figures.
They have, however, been postponed to February rather than January.

He was quite hopeful about them still being able to ship stuff, and they all seem to be working together in some way.

Hasbro wrote:Prime First Edition was a limited release. Toys R Us stores in each market chose from a variety of assortments available to tease the launch of the 2012 Transformers Prime Robots in Disguise Line.

The main line of Robots in Disguise is the new Prime line for 2012. There are no plans at this time for additional Prime First Edition figures, but if there is a demand for them, we may look at it again in the future.

The problem with this "statement" is that it's ambiguous and can be interpreted too many different ways;

i) It only mentions TRU and not any of the online retailers...

ii) "Additional figures"; as in no further releases under he FE banner? Or no more figures full stop? If its the former that would mean that only Zombie Cliffy and the FE- Vehicon have been scrapped.

Hasbro can't be held responsible for producing the FE figures and retailers not buying them, especially if they're sitting on DOTM stock. The buyers will only know they're sitting on Hasbro TF's, they won't differentiate like we do.

What Hasbro can be held responsible for is the complete and utter lack of any communication and clarification on their part. Badly worded press releases don't help either!

How about being wasteful? Waves of fully produced figures, scrapped in favor of new molds that are considered a waste by their buying audience. What company does that? I know they do it with successive waves, but side by side???

It seems very much like insanity, to most of us.

Now, if you want to put a potential positive spin on it, it could be argued that Hasbro created the First Editions only for collectors and kept them from the eyes of children so they'd have an easier time selling PRID to kids and parents not in the know. And to thank us, they gave us older folk the first dibs on the First Editions.

Hasbro might even try and spin it like that, but it doesn't sit well with me.

For the record, I'd like to see an actual marketing test where kids could choose between which they preferred of the FE and RID figures. Granted I wouldn't be surprised that the semi-retarded groups of children they apparently aim for would be largely bewildered and amazed by the automorph, but I'd at least expect a 50/50 to come from such a test. Add the fact that they wasted money on new molds and maybe they'd figure out how far their heads are up their asses.

And yes, when I was a kid (you'd have to be 5+ for mainline **** right?) I would not have bought into the **** gimmicks if there was a better option. If I'm wrong then children of this generation are on a complete mental decline.

I've emailed Hasbro twice in the past week about how they are alienating the fans that will actually buy quality figures. I don't care if I have to pay more for First Editions, as long as Hasbro makes an effort to actually get them out to the stores. And it's even more ridiculous that it's been 13 months since Transformers Prime hit the airwaves and there is still no toyline. This is the worst Hasbro flub I've seen since Action Masters.

I just called Hasbro, and told a customer service rep "Yeah, this is not alright." She took down my info, and said she'll transfer my comments to the higher-ups.

That's nothing new. Kids these days have high-tech gizmo's and gadgets and, generally, want instant gratification. Automorphs work with them pretty well with them. Same with mechtech weaponry. Push a button and watch it go, like it's being fired. Done deal. Imagining it being fired or seeing it being fired? Not that hard to understand why kids jump on that kind of stuff

Lights and sounds have always big with the young though, even I was kid growing up in the late 80's, early 90's. We just didn't have the number of mechanized toys they do today so we weren't as spoiled with them. My 2 year old niece only really likes Transformers that actually do something at the touch of a button. She pretty much ignores the others. She likes the Playskool Bumblebee I got her for her b-day, but that's only because she knows Ultimate Bee (she still asks mommy and daddy to make Playskool Bee talk like him).

Seriously, when i got into collecting TFs when i was 8/9 years old, i rarely bought a figure withought a gimmick. Back then, if i had to choose between RID and FE prime, i would take the RID one.

I don't blame hasbro for thinking that way too, especially since they are simplifying transformation to make it appeal to younger kids ;)

Although thats bad news for collectors who will be stuck with gimmicky and simplified TFs.

Then this reinforces an old argument of mine. I was home-schooled, ergo I was different than everyone else. The first series I was majorly introduced to Transformers with was Beast Wars. One time I an specifically remember was when I was playing with Optimal Optimus and found that I didn't like the big annoying block of electronics below his neck giving him permanent nipple cannons. Sure it had lights and sound, but very quickly I came to the conclusion "I could do without this". Then came the RID series where I hated the entire gimmick Optimus was based around, even worse when I got Omega Prime together I was just plain pissed by all the electronics weighing him down. After all that, then came Armada, o~h lovely Armada. Y'know I will admit that the gimmicks did not keep me from buying them, but I tolerated it because that's the only thing that was available, I didn't have a choice. My mindset was ALWAYS "I wish they'd made it more screen accurate, this stuff it does is kinda boring." For instance, when I heard about the Super-Con version of Prime I was friggin ecstatic to hear they'd at least tried to make something that sucked less. Anyway, I started reading online reviews more and stopped buying toys as much after that.

Generally I could say that when I was a kid, I didn't like any gimmick that was intrusive, or anything in general that made them less screen accurate in robot mode. I actually really liked Red Alert since his gimmick did not impede his poseability too much, but I never liked the fact that he was ridiculously bigger than everyone else.

Though I doubt this is entirely the case. Kids have gotten dumber and lowered their standards, I don't really doubt that.

On top of all this. If it has a show, it doesn't matter if it has a gimmick to draw you in. The audience is going to buy it, pure and simple. In fact, as I stated before, the only reason I bought gimmicky crap was because I had no other choice.

Just to update y'all on this, I just got a reply from BBTS to an inquiry about the preorders, and the reply is as follows:

We apologize that we have learned that Hasbro has canceled these figures. We will be listing new TF Prime preorders on Wednesday 2/1. Some of these may convert to new listings and some will be canceled. We will email you with updates between now and Wednesday.
Thanks!

I specifically asked about the Wave 1.5 Deluxe set of 4, the Entertainment Pack, and the Wave 1 Voyager set of 2. This may not settle the matter, but it adds a new dimension.

I'm hopeful that in three months we'll all see shelves full of Cliffjumper and Bulkhead at TJ Maxx!

As far as gimmicks - I have a 5 yr-old, and it's not the lights and sounds that he wants, or that he plays with. He wants to see Grimlock's big sword stay in Grimlock's hand and beat down Megatron. He doesn't even shoot the missiles, he just likes them because he likes how they look. However, his three-year-old brother loves shooting missiles.

Know what he and his older friends like? Transformers that can stand on carpet, and that can be posed/transformed without snapping apart.

This is so F***ing unfair! I live in Mexico, we don't even have TRU or Target stores, and so far the only exclusives our Walmarts have ever gotten were the first movie repaints(Fracture, Crankcase and Breakaway) and deluxe DOTM Optimus, not even the BBOP repaint with Comettor, no way in hell we'll get even ONE of the FE line, and online prices are even higher due to shipping costs...and with the massive DOTM shelfwarming, I doubt we'll even get RID
