Yeah they're not massively hidden in truck mode are they? Is not too bad but sure would be less visible with a trailer attached and they're molded to have a port for one. Has anyone with the mechtech trailer tried attaching it yet?

Quick bit of red and blue paint on the chest. Does it help?
I know they don't quite match the other red and blue parts but layout-wise? Painted some red on the black piece to complete the window frames, and making the outside parts blue like they should be, makes the chest look less wide. Will do again at some point when I get more & better paint. And yup, flames will be added by Toyhax when they've done the stickers.

Oddly the dark metallic blue paint I put on the outer parts of the chest pretty much matches the blue used on those lower bits of the stomach area which I didn't paint.

Yeah, those arm panels do slide up giving the fists more exposure in robot mode. They tend to slip down rather easily, though. It also doesn't help that the blue shoulder panels offer create clearance issues with the arm panels too. On my figure, the panel on the left arm pops off a LOT. I need to try coating the nub with some floor polish to get a tighter fit.

Your custom paint work looks good so far. Painting the sides of the chest the proper blue really helps make that are look less stretched out and flat. Unfortunately, paint can't really help the sun visor problem on that mold.

Thanks. Yeah not sure what to do about visors. The only way to have them physically there would be a couple seperate pieces of some material, coloured silver and find some way to attach them (probably clipping them to the inner corners of the red window frames and tilted diagonally) and then would obviously remove them for transformation (not a big deal since my bots spend most of their time in robot mode). Will have a look in my junker box later when I have time and see if there's anything suitable I can use.

Really cannot wait for Toyhax stickers for this guy. I cannot paint those darn missing flames myself. :P I really believe this is a fine figure of Prime if it was just coloured properly! I don't get why Hasbro keep skimping on the deco for the MAIN GUY! His AoE Evasion figure has barely any correct colour layout. His TLK voyager too was lacking in paint for the flames and such. Both of those I had to fix myself with paint and Toyhax stickers...

EDIT:
Found this parts which apparently come from the arms of a 2010 G1 Legends Starscream. I could slice them down, paint them silver and wondering if I could put tiny little magnets to attach the circular parts to the pins in the chest's black joint piece thingy. Somehow try to figure a way so they partially overlap the windows rather than sit behind. It's an idea anyways. If it don't work I'll think up something else. :P You get the idea anyways.

I'm getting the urge for another figure. Still can't really go for Grimlock or Blackout. Cost of those figures plus cost of larger shelves to display those figures. :P Might go for Stinger, I've really warmed to his look in the photos. :)

Those little pieces from Reveal the Shield Starscream work pretty well, actually. It almost looks like they should be part of the mold proper with the circles sitting atop the cylindrical joints in the middle of the chest. We should probably continue the discussion in the customs thread at this point, though. :)

Oops, yeah I'll make a topic there at some point for the next update. I just get carried away with the brainstorming and thought folk might like to see how they can spruce up their SS Prime a bit if they so choose. I agree about those circles. Would look good if i can make it all fit. Anyways I'll shush about the customising til i make a topic. Sorry folks for the slightly off-topicness. :)

Studio Series Blackout

Another one that looks good. But again, flaws.
The robot mode would be damn near perfect if it weren't for those arms. They're so weird. The hands with no wrist swivel, and just the odd and awkward combination of joints make it difficult to make virtually any natural looking poses. But seriously, everything else is great.

Copter mode is huge! And panels lining up isn't as much of a pain as you'd think. However, he ain't pretty upside down. Which I actually already knew about, but even the rear end of the copter is open an empty. Which is pretty lame. But otherwise it's pretty impressive.

Between him and Grim though, I gotta give the win to the dino. Blackout's arms... can be forgiven, but they do suck #-o

I've got similar feelings on Studio Series Blackout, Shijaki, though I think the arms and hands bother me a little less and the fiddly panels and hollow back end bother me a bit more. Overall, though, it's an outstanding figure and miles beyond the Voyager class version from 2007. Grimlock has me hoping the other three movie Dinobots get the same treatment. We probably need a Leader class Scorn at lest as tall as Grimlock, if even a bit taller, and then a big and bulky Voyager version of Slug with a slightly shorter Voyager version of Strafe.

Here's some more food for thought. If we are indeed getting a "KSI Boss" figure as rumored down the line, will it be a new mold, or perhaps an extensive retool of The Last Knight Nitro Zeus?

Yes, and it's almost perfect. Scale wise, the trailer is perfect for the tractor. They're the same width, and the trailer doesn't seem too short, which was my main concern. It also attaches at the right distance, unlike the deluxe Prime, which had way too much room between the cab and the trailer. The only problem is that the fifth wheel (where the trailer hooks up to the tractor) is too high. So that tilts the trailer up towards the front and if you display it facing sideways, it looks bad. If the feet were removed, it would be the perfect height. But the hinges have to be removed in order to do that.

BTW, have all the figures been announced yet? I would love to finally get a leader class DoTM Megatron and Shockwave, as well as a leader class AoE Galvatron.

We thought we new everything coming out, but with Bee movie (TF6) being pushed back to December seems to have caused them to make several changes to the leaked list we got (this was confirmed at Toy Fair by Warden who admitted they had to scramble to change the lineup). I wont bother listing waves because they've probably changed, but here are the figures we know (and think we know) we're getting after wave 1, through to wave 4 and maybe even wave 5.

Deluxe-
-TF6 VW Bumblebee
-TF1 Jazz
-TF4 Lockdown
-TF4 "KSI Sentry"
-TF? "Raider"
-TF? "Unknown Hero"

Voyager-
-TF2 Megatron
-TF1 Brawl
-TF1 Ironhide
-TF2 Starscream
-TF1 Bonecrusher
-TF? Optimus Prime

No rumored new Leaders yet, though a leaked Japanese list did show two unnamed leaders. We can probably bet on a modern Bumblebee somewhere and more TF6 figures around wave 4 to go with VW Bee. There's probably at least one more exclusive as well.

Thanks for checking. :) I may still buy the trailer and try figure a way to have it all level out nicely.

I don't see those characters getting leader figures as that would be far too large for the Studio scale. Their voyager figures are already suitable scale for the most part. New attempts at those would be welcome but the current figures are all pretty decent (though Hasbro's AoE Galvatron could use a lot more paint).

Not sure who else would qualify for Leader size. Probably the other dinobots? Demolisher? Who else was giant?

Hasbro confirmed that the main thing with this line is scale and what you are asking for is MP scale so more likely in an MPM line, not this one. The fraction leaders will be all voyager scaled. None of those characters you mentioned will be getting leader figures since that would make them all out of scale with the rest of the line.

I'm pretty sure this has mentioned before, but Jetfire might make a good candidate for a studio series leader!

For the Dinobots, I'm sure Scorn would be a leader class size. He's supposedly even taller than Grimlock in robot mode. Slug either has to be a small leader or a big voyager. Strafe would be best as a big voyager.

Wouldn't it be grand if Hasbro had some real plans for Devastator later in the line? A giftset might be too expensive, but sprinkling a few Constructicons in per wave over a year or so might do the trick. I want a massive combiner Devastator to tower over all the other characters on display.

I don't agree on DOTM Megatron.
As I mentioned some posts above, it could be possible to make him in scale. The cab part (not counting the trailer) being as big as Optimus in truck mode (who is barely larger than a deluxe) and the whole bot mode being as big as voyager ROTF Megatron (who is a large voyager).

Not sure how many of those are financially viable to produce. Grindor, sure cos he would likely be a redeco (hopefully a retool since his chopper mode is a bit different). Demolisher might be seen as a bit too gimmicky and odd to justify a costly Leader figure. Devastator components would reguire Hasbro trusting that all the parts would sell enough to make it worth while at that expensive size. I had to look up Devcon cos I couldn't even remember it). Dinobots probably have the most appeal but again I think Hasbro would need to be absolutely confident that we'd buy them to make it worth the effort and cost. Blackout and Grimlock were easy choices given their popularity, iconic status and screentime.

I see. Thank you. I still think DoTM Megatron is good for leader class, as his cab part would be the same size as Optimus in truck mode and the tanker would make up the rest of him. He would be a little taller in bot mode, which is screen accurate, and would be in scale in truck mode.

I’ve seen one leader grimlock and the voyagers once and never again. I still havent spotted the bumblebee figure ever. The rest of the deluxes seem pretty common though

A giftset might be too expensive, but sprinkling a few Constructicons in per wave over a year or so might do the trick. I want a massive combiner Devastator to tower over all the other characters on display.

This is what I have been saying and really hoping for. A proper RotF Devastator would be the icing on the studio series cake for me.

I'm hoping for voyager Slug and Strafe too, to go with Leader Grimlock and voyager TLK Scorn.

Heard something interesting today. I was talking to a dude I know at my local Target, he made a note of all the cases of studio deluxes hes received, none of them have had bumblebees. I have no idea how many pieces there are per shipment, however all 4 of their shipments only have ratchet, crowbar, and stinger per case. I have no idea how wide spread this is. If it's and factory mistake, or if Hasbro is quietly recalling the Bumblebee figure. Both are speculative but it's, odd to say the least.
