I have made that speculation myself.

Of course, they could make an entire couple of years worth of product with just one more combiner. that being the big bombad dragon from TLK. bad movie, awesome robot dragon. the toy we got before is ok mind you, but only 2 knights as opposed to the whole team.

then you could also argue, that if they want to keep g1 in the ss line, there is the entire cybertron cast from the intro scene from bumblebee

I think actually just reviving the line at the best time would be better...plus I don't believe that excuse, being an ardent fan of the theory that these only exist in ss because Kingdom was doing beast wars.

With the pandemic and the rate things are going, that's just a bad thing to try.

Complete SS for the current 6 films. Then let it rest. Start the line anew with the next movie under a different name. Until you actually do a Marvel Legends styled line, maybe what RED is trying to do but as transforming figures, don't try to prolong it, let it finish.

Unless Bayverse Studio Series is going away, seems like a great opportunity for Bayverse collectors to save some money.

I'm not necessarily a geewunner but it's nice to see the 86 movie get some love in the Studio Series line.

Agreed!

Looking forward to what's next for SS86.

Could we be getting an SS86 Ultra Magnus and a Kingdom Ultra Magnus in the same year? Maybe SS86 Ultra Magnus should be a BAF so you can take him apart like the Decepticons did.

Edit: Also, I'll happily be alone in thinking that Blurr is a mix of really good ideas, that do not work together. The chest and arms look great, and the legs look great, but the bulk of the chest and arms makes the legs too lanky. The head also kinda feels similar to Kup where it's just slightly off

It could also be a "Two birds" scenario in which they realized the movie needed love for the 35th, and that Bayverse was running low on steam after Devastator, and that they needed to celebrate Beast Wars, so they used the vagueness of the Studio Series premise to shift 86 into Studio Series, giving the designers some time to try to tackle the freakier/less-designer-friendly designs from the Bay (and Bumblebee) movies, and allowing them to use the real estate opened in the mainline for Beast Wars.

Hopefully this is a one time thing, but I find it kinda funny that G1 is being used to pad the Studio Series line until the next movie, which might be Beast Wars

His mold was No. 14 in the Diaclone line, and he was numbered 14 in the 1984 G1 toy catalog.

I deleted that part of my comment before I saw your reply, D-Max, since I figured that the Devy boxset was technically a reveal. It’s just a rerelease of existing figures though, so I guess the point still stands that all the new stuff was just G1.

I’m of course disappointed (though I can’t say I expected much different), but I do have a silver lining. I went over on my Transformers budget for this year, and I’m still missing Topspin, Skipjack, and Overload. With the next wave being a total skip for me, I’ll have no problems picking those guys up. Figures like Off-road Bumblebee and ROTF Soundwave that I wanted to get but didn’t after finding Jetfire are now back on the table!

I will never give up hope that the SS86 is just a subline (like Netflix) and that in January we will be getting a full wave for live action SS. This could be true since SS86 preorders are set for April so that could mean a January wave still.

I The Fallen, Dino, Jolt, Twins, and all the others sooner rather than later. Really hoping that the new lead person gives some more love to other parts of TF rather than 84-86.

Transformers Studio Series 86 Scourge, Kup, Grimlock and Blurr Revealed along with Devastator Boxset

Postby william-james88 » Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:50 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Fan First Friday is here and in this Transformers centric installment, we have the remainder of the first wave of Studio Series 86 bots. That being voyager Scourge (with effect part, something that comes with all voyagers in the line), deluxe Kup and Blurr, leader Grimlock (with non transforming Wheelie). we also have the movie Devastator Boxset finally revealed. All the images below come from the following Facebook post:

And there you have it! The rest of Studio Series Wave 1 revealed, which includes some of the most iconic Autobots and fearsome Decepticons to ever grace the silver screen! We DARE you to not be excited (wink wink). Available for pre-order starting now at most major retailers or in stores starting February 2021.

So what do you all think? Does that Blurr really beat Takara's Legends Blurr from a few years back?

I hear you on being able to save money!
I try to limit myself to a small selection of new figures every year, and most of my year is spent on older stuff if I find a good deal. So far, my preorders for next year are: Prime 10th anniversary Breakdown and War Vehicon, Gigawatt, and Kingdom Megs. I might pick up Kingdom Blackarachnia and SS86 Jazz after I see them in person and they catch my eyes, but I'm just gonna focus on getting on some of my more pricey odds and ends that I've had on my B-Day/X-mas Hubby list.
You know, as a kid I never made the connection between the G1 Sideswipe toy my brother passed down to me and the characters in the Beast Wars show on TV, until Michael Bay had Sideswipe as a Corvette.
