D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Well, I messed around with Megatron and Jetfire, and both are sort of weird to me.
Both look FANTASTIC in robot mode, like perfect, I could not be happier with either in robot mode. I wish Jetfire could hold his axe a little lower, but it's still really good. I like the fact that the cane actually tabs in somewhere and is stable. And everything about Megatron's robot mode is great!
But then we get to posing, transformation, and alternate modes.
Jetfire's posability is really good, so no complaints on him. But Megatron, come on, why did you design his thigh this way??? He is so hard to pose cause his thighs are only on highly restricted ball joints. For some reason, SIEGE is making leaps and bounds with posability, but STUDIO SERIES seems to be getting worse. Why?????
Megatron can transform, but the back is really finnicky in 2 spots with the tank, and he refuses to hold together back there without a lot of scary force, scary cause of how bendy all that plastic is. But once you get him there, he is really cool. I love him save for that once section of transformation and his thighs.
Jetfire, wow, Jetfire is BAD. I have tried 3 times over the course of 4 hours, and I have not gotten him into jet mode yet. His legs refuse to work, they refuse to tab in straight. I cannot get his legs and arms to tab into jet mode in ANY location, and his front and back parts of his legs will not align either. I have yet to see a good jet mode out of him, and it's so depressing! He just won't cooperate!

As for jetfire, he takes a ton of work to get together, if you can get the feet to tab in properly to the thigh - or wherever - then it should make the legs rigid; as for the rest, it's all up to the pathetic back panels, I don't think all the measurements made on the tabs were accurate. The parts above his shoulders in bot mode actually keep the entire vehicle mode together, they tab the shoulders to the legs and 'lock' in with the rest of the fuselage; but they don't match up, or, at the very least the shoulders just won't stay tabbed in.
Fortunately, his vehicle mode is the least interesting mode, and his bot mode is so expressive and poseable that it doesn't even feel like a loss - especially since it's a combiner

See, Megatron is the better of the 2 to me. I wish he had more of his old toy posability, but the new looks is definitely better overall.
Jetfire annoys me cause I haven't been able to find Prime or Bonecrusher, and those are the only 2 figures from wave 1 I need to find period. I want to make Jet Prime, especially since Jetfire's jet mode is so disappointing

In my opinion? Because Siege is primarily designed as a children's toys first, and Studio Series is primarily designed as a display piece first. I could be way off there, but that is how it feels to me.
I, too, am shocked that you are having trouble with Jetfire. I was able to transform him perfectly without instructions. I'm sorry you are having trouble.
I haven't transformed Megatron yet, to be honest, so I don't know about the issues there, but I would agree with you on the hips.

Which ones should and could (where transformation allows wrist be thick enough)? Blackout was certainly one but the Shockwave Lab hands on mine really helped with that and added finger articulation so that's good.
Sentinel_Primal wrote:Specifically, Ratchet could have benefitted with having them. And I think the Lockdown and Stinger molds could have been engineered slightly differently to allow for wrist swivels, but I don't they're as important there

Yeah I can agree on Ratchet, holding him in hand now. Not sure about Lockdown and Stinger molds since their hands are so integrated with the car doors (pretty much the whole back of the hand is door) I can't see that being possible. But yeah Ratchet's could have potentially been done.

But as sad as the alt mode is, this robot mode is the bomb!
