Not really surprising. Pretty much any new movie gets a video game; never mind Transformers movies always getting one or two.

I'd like a movie-verse follow up to Devastation so can Platinum games do the movie's game please? Even stick with cel shaded graphics for a hybrid of movie-cartoon might be a neat look.

I just hope it's better than the last ones we got. It is possible to make a good game from movie but maybe what the game needs to do is tell a new story within the moviverse ala Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butchers Bay. That game proved to be an awesome tie in, even better than the movie that spawned it.

Exactly, Dark spark was not a very good game, at least to me :MAXIMAL:

My main issue with Dark Spark was that I didn't want to play the WfC/FoC levels cos I don't like those games at all or their blocky characters. I bought the game purely for the movie-stuff. And it helps that I got the PS4's 'Gold Edition' during a PSN sale for £11.99 :)

I think this highlights the main issue with Dark Spark; it tries to combine two very different things into one package which almost always ends up disappointing. No-one wanted a crossover of Movieverse and Aligned and it only serves to **** up Aligned's continuity to even greater extents, proving that no matter how badly you mess up, there's always room to mess up more. Only good thing that came from it is that it was such a big mess universal singularities stopped being a thing. Movie fans aren't necessarily keen to play WfC/FoC stuff, and there's a lot of TF fans who loved WfC/FoC and hated the movies (Hi!), so it was just a bad idea from the get-go.
... am I ranting too much?

You're not ranting at all, in fact you're making some fair points. They probably thought they were going the better route by making the game movie related but not completely movie adapted (see my earlier example) but all execution fails if the product is still lacking. Movieverse doesn't lend itself well to multiverse shenanigans, the characters are too different.

If they wanted to do a crossover game, I would recommend the following series: unicron trilogy, animated and G1.

Now I've got myself wanting a super robot wars style game featuring all the different continuities interacting with Car Robots being the lead in continuity. T_T Why do I do these things to myself.

Meh, it's not like the game makers of RotDS really had much of a choice in how they made the game considering that Bay wouldn't let any licensees look at the AOE movie's script before the film's release so as to prevent any movie tie-ins from spoiling its plot ahead of time, which resulted in no AOE novel, no AOE comics from IDW, and an AOE game that had jack squat to do with the AOE movie.

Seriously...? I mean, of all things to protect, the script? The story is hardly what people care about; even most fans know it's mostly excuse plots for explosions and giant robots punching each other.

More than likely Activision. I hope that that they can make it similar to FOC or even Platinum back and make it like Devastation.

Not really, or at least, not anymore. It used to be the case but it got seriously toned down, probably due to 9 out of 10 tie-in games being garbage. Largely due to the logistics of development, having to base the release of the game on that of the movie but also needing the movie to be far enough in production to have something to base the game on, doesn't leave a whole lot of game development time before release.
