Don't see any reason for them to not use the CW system; it's a solid system that's proved to be extremely effective, designing an entirely new system would take up time and money for what at the end of the day would be really pointless, and Abominus was Scramble City in 1987 and hence it'd make sense for him to use the same system.

I can easily see Takara continuing UW with these guys, yeah.

Still, it's weird to me that they'd be in Titans Return at all; especially with all the other confirmed rumours for the later waves leaving no space for them... maybe these rumours partly leak into the next line which'd be beast combiner based?

If this is true, Titans Return is gonna be a very long line...and I'm very okay with that. GIVE ME MORE!

The fact that Predaking and Abominus are listed as such instead of their individual members could mean they're going to be released in box sets as opposed to individual. Or it could mean nothing.

Perhaps we need to start calling it "Prime Wars Trilogy" before the 3rd line actually comes out since there is already significant bleed over between CW & Titans Return - especially as they are all essentially just part of the same sub-theme under the generations Banner anyway - which is why they can get away with continuing to shoehorn Wingblade into every available nook & cranny.

Or why having a Combiner Wars "Cartoon" is only slightly bizarre to have as a current marketing tool... that bleed over means there is still likely to be a fair few Rugrats who get CW toys for Crimbo 2016. so Advertising them still isn't completely bizarre, a little Bizarre but not completely so.

It looks suitable for a Tokyo Toyshow exclusive to me, with e-Hobby being a possibility. There is all those other obscure ways Takara gets things out thought too - like Millionaire Publishing Exclusives or the odd outlet exclusive - though they don't seem to do that as much as they did in the previous decade.

Perhaps a Japanese viewer or an early sub can confirm - but the info may be "Behind the scenes" info from somewhere like Telemanga or similar.

Basically the idea is that Some Time travel event altered the past so when the "Autobots" /Cybertrons (new ones not G1 characters) return to Cybertron from some mission of colony recall they are traditional Transformers greeted with a techno-organic world someone takes a dislike to this (Megatron/Gigatron possibly) and travels to the past to try to undo it some how or other. in the process changing the past.

So they left from the same universe as G1/Beast Wars and Beast Machines (yes even before Beast Wars Returns was made) but in the process of time travelling cemented their status as a "Alternative Universe".. but a daughter Universe not some random parallel dimension like IDW or Armada but an actual off-shoot terminator style.

I hope someone else remembers this so I don't seem quite so loopy as this sounds in retrospect. making a show a sequel to another show that they'd not even had at the time does sound a bit potty.

That... is a lot to take in. I'm really not sure how I feel about that list and how big it is and what characters are on it

There really isn't any consistency when it comes to TF toy brand in terms of length. Most of the movie-based ones last only a year. Ones based on a current animated series will go 2-3 years, and the Generations line...while in the beginning each iteration seemed to last about one year, obviously CW & TR seem to be more popular, CW is more of an 18 month line, and I can see TR doing the same, going all the way to end of 2017, though no doubt in mid 2017 we will start to see promotion for what the next "generations" line will offer. The fact that Trypticon (presumably summer 2017) is supposed to also be part of TR and not...the next line is already evidence of this (unless that changes)...the idea of one Titan toy per line kind of goes out the window...

Bit off-news-topic since this doesn't concern it at all, but I've been thinking for ages that Misfire's gonna be a Triggerhappy retool... so I randomly decided to do a comparison right now, and it's pretty much solidified it as fact for me.



-TR Triggerhappy (TRiggerhappy?) now has fins on the back of his jet mode. Said back of jet mode with the fins now transforms into his legs. Both of these characteristics were not on his G1 toy, but were very prominent on G1 Misfire's toy.

-The sides of the jet turn into his arms, with the wings folded back. From what I can tell this is the same on G1 Misfire, plus it would allow you to fold the wings forward for an appearance more reminiscent of MTMTE Misfire.

-The cockpit of Triggerhappy's alt mode has now been moved back to a similar location to G1 Misfire's, as opposed to G1 Triggerhappy's cockpit being right at the front of the alt mode.

I wasn't expecting Pretenders until Prime Wars part III
Just as I was thinking once RID is executed in 2017 they might shift over from (whatever small transformers are called this week) to making some more Micromasters too.

I was thinking that Replacement for Titan Master 2 pack might be Micromasters (in late 2017 or 2018) - thought 2017 etc.. being multiple movie years is likely going to throw a spanner in the works a bit there.

Perhaps the Pretender characters are not pretenders at all just more Titan Masters - not unlike what they did with Skullgrin already.

G1 Arcee gets around, from Hot Rod to Springer to Chromedome. We had this discussion a while back in another thread.

But if you stick with Hasbro's The Rebirth instead of ignoring it and moving on to Japan's superior (IMHO, chill people who prefer American continuity) The Headmasters you get Daniel Witwicky instead, and that's... problematic (among other things).

Yes I can see what you mean - looking at the robot mode the front end is actually a Blurr style removable piece perhaps ?

So they can tweak the Transformation (or reverse it) to get Missfire.

[side note : ideal fodder some of these are - for Takara Campaign Targetmasters]

The fins do look like Missfires. I hope if they do remould they do a few new pieces and don't just slap a new nose and head on it and say "That will do".

So the next question is - can we see any Slugslinger parts in there too ? and what about Cyclonus ?

Only similarity I could possibly draw with Slugslinger is that his legs also form the back of the jet and have fins on them.



Otherwise there's no real similarities, unless someone with the original toys could point them out to me. I think if we want a Slugslinger it'd either have to be a new mold or highbrow-scourge level retooling/parts-sharing.

Slugslinger has the same leg transformation and style as Misfire, which TRiggerhappy now has.

I definitely wouldn't mind an updated G1 Predaking toy design myself.

If Predaking is true, I surprisingly hope that he is a normal sized CW gestalt that use the hand/foot/gun pieces, since those pieces were originally modeled after G1 Predaking's. Also as you can see from this image, if he was the size of CW Defensor, he would be about the height of G1 Preds as well.



I can also imagine Razorclaw (torso) being a heavy retool of voyager TR Alpha Trion, Rampage from Wolfwire, and the others probably being either new or other complete retools. Also this would most likely be a box set, so I really hope Divebomb's wings come off and become wings for combined mode like in the G1 toy.

I think they can do all three targetmaster jets with shared engineering. Seems that's what they'll do if they do them. The new seekers of Titans Return?

How do you get Daniel as Arcee's boyfriend?

Heck, even Springer is debatable as I don't remember them dating or flirting. They just spent time together a lot. Kup might as well be her boyfriend by that standard.

By my recall: she was more or less Daniel's babysitter/headmaster partner. Springer spent time with her but just as easily could have been her gay best friend.

There was some tension with Hot Rod but he went straight from being too immature to too busy. Hence, spending time with Springer.

I'd hope Predaking would be a normal CW gestalt myself - the more compatibility the better. I'd love to replace Vortex with Divebomb to give Bruticus a sweet set of wings

Only problem is that unlike the scramble city guys and like Monstructor and Devastator... both in toys and in-fiction, the Predacons are consistently depicted as the same size rather than Razorclaw being a bit bigger than the others.





In addition, unlike Abominus they were never scramble city and used a different system which iirc had some free-forming with which component was which limb (rampage could be the left leg or right arm or whatever), but Divebomb was I think specifically required to be one of the arms.
I'd welcome them being Scramble Citied - again, BRUTICUS WITH WINGS - but it certainly would feel more odd than the other Combiner updates and at least some people would be a bit disappointed by the update and conformity.

Honestly, I actually think it'd be pretty cool if they done them all out of the same mold but had major changes. Would feel kinda nice somehow... in any case though, seems like Slugslinger would have to have some very major changes done if he wants to share the mold while still looking like his G1 self in both modes. It's certainly possible though, I think - just not as easy and visible as Triggerhappy > Misfire.

Arcee was very, very excited about Springer in the movie. She cleary could not make up her mind between the two boys at that time.

Kup is the father figure everybody looks up to. Grimlock loves his stories. And I don't recall Arcee ever getting emotional about Kup, whereas with Springer and Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime there is recorded footage. And Chromedome. And Daniel.

As I have Thrilling 30 Arcee and Springer and Classics Hot Rod, TR Chromedome would complete that quartet.

I need Triggerhappy and Slugslinger in my life.

Even though I think it would make more sense for Preds to be a Titan, I much more easily see him being a normal sized gestalt just for scheduling. And plus, it would be great for him to be the same size as the G1 Preds himself. He also would go well with CW Sky Lynx in that scale.
