If they release Optimus, I could see them most likely doing CR Black Convoy (RiD 2001 Scourge) first and foremost.
Same.

Same, with the addition of exclusive. Tankor/Destron Octone and Blitzwing will be general retail, no doubt.

I have thoughts on Wave 3 Titan Masters now that they've arrived. Overkill is the only repaint, but it works so well I suspect this character might have been the original intention of the mold.
Sawback (henceforth Lione) is fun, though also obviously a pretooling for Steeljaw. Has the weirdest vehicle and weapon modes of the bunch.
Ptero (Swoop) is well executed. The robot eye paint on mine isn't fantastic. Vehicle mode is pretty neat, and the Titan Master himself is toy Swoop as opposed to cartoon Swoop face like the robot head mode.
Fangry is the standout. Titan Master has this Black Knight/WW The Fallen thing going on. I think the robot head mode is meant for Crankcase, it's almost a dead ringer to Milne's design for him (were his head in one piece in that universe!) He has essentially two beast modes: Fangry mode, and a dragon mode that the Titan Master can ride. I want it repainted into Dragoyell so badly.
Great wave. This line keeps knocking it out of the park with fun factor. Don't skip it when you see it!
JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:I agree, but the names will pose a problem. "Overlord" has been used for Europe and Japan, but the US uses "Powermaster Gigatron" (HoC PVC Figurine) or just "Gigatron" (BotCon 2012) instead, suggesting "Overlord" can't be acquired as a trademark.
Sabrblade wrote:And further past experience has shown "Overlord" to be a name that has yet to be Trademarkable in the U.S. for toys of that character.
JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Plus, back in 2002 he got released in the Heroes of Cybertron line of PVC figurines:
I'm guessing you two aren't as familiar with G.I. Joes as you are Transformers?
Hasbro did have the name Overlord in the US for G.I. Joe in 1990 and just like other shared names like Shockwave, Scoop, and Mainframe they could have used it for a Transformer as well if they wanted to.
If they used the name Gigatron in 2002 then it's because they wanted to since Hasbro still had the name Overlord at least through 2006 when Fun Pub made a new figure for GIJoeCon.

So it seems more likely that Hasbro simply doesn't want the character to be called Overlord, at least in the past, we'll see what they do when the new figure comes out.

What about by 2012 when Fun Pub ended up using the "Gigatron" name instead of "Overlord" for that year's BotCon toy?

Another case of G.I. Joe names vs. Transformers names, huh? I am familiar with the concept, with Shockwave/Shockblast and Junkyard, but not with Overlord. Either way, I can see Hasbro having requested FunPub not to use "Overlord" for Transformers, out of desire to keep names within a single line, even if we fans know better and want their original names intact.

If Hasbro themselves isn't going to use the name on a Transformers character then it's hard to believe they'd let someone else. But I don't know if they still own the name or not, it's been 10 years since we've last seen it used by Hasbro for a figure after all.

...No.
The tank was called the Gigatank and the jet was called the Megajet. Neither vehicle was alive either. The tank's Godmaster operator was a man called Giga, and the jet's Godmaster was Giga's wife Mega. Mega and Giga were the heart and soul of Overlord, with Giga speaking through the combined robot form as Overlord's main personality.

I don't really like that they retroactively named The Fallen's after Megatron and having the reverse in-story. Same with Optimus being one of the thirteen, I just don't feel the connection to such god-like figures adds anything to the characters and mythos - heck, I feel it takes away.
To get back on topic, I still kinda feel they'll use Overlord for the packaging; given the character's rise in popularity in recent years thanks to Roberts and that they apparently haven't used the G.I. Joe guy in ages. Hell, seeing just how popular the Transformers character is they might start prioritising him over said G.I. Joe guy unless the latter is popular or prominent himself (I don't know anything about G.I. Joe other than they like to shoot giant robots with bullets. strategy).

I am pretty sure he means Megatronus as in the name Prime's Megatron gave himself as a gladiator in the ring (in honour of one of the original primes)
But then, what would Prime Megatron have to do with any version of Overlord?

I dont know, my understanding of Silly Springer's mind only goes so far.
Edit: although, in Megatron Origins, we do see a young megatron (even pre gladiator) go head to head with Sky Shadow, who is a pretool of TR Overlord so.... I got nothing.

Yes, but I believe it is just the Deluxes, right? My Legends and Voyager Wave 3 are all still showing yet to be delivered. I went ahead and shipped my POL< so I'd have stuff to fiddle with over Thanksgiving. Big haul too...

Agamemnon, barebacked rider of flying robo-dragon, and not often constipated either... (I answer to Ag or Ags. Agamemnon is too long to type. Plus, there is something elemental about calling me Ag. )
After Titans Return Sawback which is really Lione, fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 has shared with us video reviews for the rest of Wave 3's Titan Masters: Ptero, which is really Swoop, Fangry, one of the original Headmaster Juniors, and Overboard, which is really Overkill! You can check out the three clips embedded below along with a brief comment, and join the conversation in the Energon Pub.
Fangry is an homage to one of the old school Headmaster Juniors. It's a fun figure in its two beast modes, but the weapon mode falls a little short. If you're looking to complete the extended Headmaster line, this is a must.
Overboard is the third use of the Crashbash mold and a homage to the old cassette Overkill. Unlike Clobber, Overboard is a straight repaint of Crashbash, which I really don't mind. This is an easy pass in this wave.
Ptero is Swoop, lets get that out of the way first. Ptero is also a pretty nifty little Titan Master, with probably the most interesting weapon mode. Funny enough, I've been told the vehicle mode looks a bit like Thanos' throne, so hey, crossover!

I know I preordered my stuff super fast after they went up, so I think they got in partial stock. I got me and my friend's Hot Rod in, along with my Triggerhappy. I'm considering whether to wait for Megatron and a Super Saiyan Vegeta figure to come in before I ship them out or not.

Or they'll slap the faction name in front of whatever they feel like using. See: "Autobot Jazz", or "Decepticon Scrapper".
