I went out hunting for anything wave 3 (wave 1 2017) on Thursday. I hit three targets and each one had 2 Soundwaves. Just wanted to show that they are showing up in the Midwest, where we more often than not are the last to get anything.

Image

Maybe Hssbro is holding back Six Shot because retailers are back logged with leader class toys.
While out I saw PMOPs and Blasters at the Walmarts and TRU I visited. We are just now seeing saturation of Wave 1 leaders that were meant to be on shelves for Christmas, and Wave 2 is just arriving. I don't think any of this has to do with Hasbro. Once the merchandise is in the hands of the retailer (the minute it reaches our shores), it's on them to distribute it. They are the ones not handling it well.

Weirdly enough him and a single Voyager Optimus Prime are the only wave three anything that has shown up in my area nothing else in either Toys R Us or our 2 Walmarts here actually the only deluxe in high supply these days is Mindwipe.

I bought both of them yes and I love them both but I'm disappointed by the stickers they have compared to earlier TR waves that did not include such.

Do the deluxes (Hot Rod and friends) have these stickers just want to know before hand?

Considering that leader thundercracker is still sitting on shelves near me, I'd say they're definitely back-logged - for all the wrong reasons. Maybe hasbro shouldn't have sh|t out so many horrid repaints of a horrid retool of a leader class figure of such horrid value - maybe >:oP

Not the two that I got (triggerhappy and breakaway(?))

I think only voyager and up will have stickers hereafter (hopefully not at all, but this is hasbro after all)

Stuartmaximus wrote:I dunno about that? coz i'm getting the impression that people in general are holding off on getting Sky Shadow in order to get that mold as Overlord or to go even further...prob hold off til the Takara Tomy version comes out & if that's the case...it'll prob be something along the lines of what happened with Generations Roadbuster....meaning that he was in plentiful supply...and just shelfwarmed...coz noone was interested in buying the figure, or they had bought it & there were far too many of them left over, so just shelfwarmed

Roadbuster is a strange one as he's not actually a bad figure - In a UK sense though it seemed Whirl was the shelf warmer on that wave not Roadbuster. I was not personally paying a great deal of attention to the on shelves situation as I actually bought both the Takara and the Hasbro ones very cheaply online before I ever even saw a boxed one at all.

But I was actually not really thinking about "Collectors" as much as I was how the general population - say Parents looking for a Birthday Gift for example - might see them and both Six shot & Sky Shadow offer good bang for the buck especially next to Soundwave.

Though Soundwave is a good purchase if you plan to Buy Trypticon or have a lot of data pads I would say.

But some kids might not get the appeal there.

Personally I see Overlord as more of a distinct figure (with the remould) and this as more of a pre-mould of a hypothetical Thunderwing.

But as a general principle multiple character cases are better and I think they'd likely benefit from such a case option for either or both of them.

But as I alluded to earlier I think Hasbro need to open up the packing options so retailers who have nothing of something can get a character they lack and ones who have a glut can avoid them - single character cases do at least solve that problem and even if they are single character cases it's not like every store is gonna get 20 of them at once. and Leaders usually end up on sale eventually anyway.

I'd recommend https://www.youtube.com/user/chefatron
for any quick over views of that sort of thing - if there are stickers he will always point them out.

The 3rd wave Deluxes are all Tampographed though.

The switch for the name Twinferno must have been done in a really late stage since I just realized on my bill that he is DoubleCross in the walmart database:

Him being on HTS means that there is a possible option ot get him later, when a deal is at hand. And thats very different from buying him now simply because he is on HTS, rather than elsewhere. Thanks for the feedback.

So is Legends Bumblebee old news yet, or am I allowed to gush about him still? Because holey moley, I love this little guy and I'm not even too sure why.
I was messing around with him the morning after I got him, still feeling disappointed that of all the Wave 3 Legends, he was the only one to turn up so far - when I guess I triggered this memory. Back to me as a young child (probably around 7, so let's say 2006-ish?), wanting a G1 Bumblebee toy more than anything in the world, to the point that I can still remember this one dream I had where I found him in a store and it was the best thing in my life.
Of course, this being 2006 and me being the tender age of 7 I never actually got one, but it made me realise that this Bumblebee is basically the closest update we've gotten to that original toy, well - pretty much ever - and my love for him all of a sudden increased tenfold.

Small application of silver/black Sharpie to the wheels and license plate, and he is looking pretty much as perfect as he can. I was actually a little apprehensive about painting the hubcaps (heh) since I thought the black/yellow balance was really good as-is and didn't want to mess that up, but he undeniably looks even more class with the extra details - especially in car mode.

Cobotron's and Autobot N's suggestion of flipping the arms is a great one and it makes the robot mode look even better - but having done so twice I'm probably never going to do so again for fear of damaging the balljoints (elbows are starting to feel a little looser and I think his shoulders are beginning to show stress marks from the constant ball-joint-popping).

And finally, a little bonus extra. In preparation for the Chase version of this mold hitting soon-ish, and in case anyone wanted a more "accurate" robot mode for that, I finagled a little something to hit the approximate mark:

I saw a lot of Roadbusters, Whirls, Rhinox's, Sky-Bytes all shelf-warming even when half price at like £12.99 or so. I bought Roadbuster but thought he was pretty crappy so sold him on less than a week later.

That arm switching (and sharpied details) sure makes the figure look a lot less crappy. Forearms are still stubby. Shame there's no way of doing that and keeping it transformable without having to detach/reattach again.

Yeah, I thought long and hard about ways that it could theoretically be executed using extensive modding. The best I can think of (without actually trying it, because Sharpie is pretty much the extent of my modding abilities) is some kind of swivel platform below the neck - but that, in turn, would require one to create a way for that to attach to the existing part... and make it able to rotate without colliding with other parts... and unscrew and swap the panels on his forearms... and cut off the tabs outside his hands and stick them on the inside instead... and even then it would be a gamble as to whether the dimensions would work correctly...

Yep pretty sure Bumblebee's just going to have to live with gigantic biceps.

I feel this way mainly for Sixshot since I didn't playing any games with pre-ordering a few Wave 3 Legends. So i finally pre-ordered him on BBTS since my area Target's are just getting that dumpy looking Soundwave.

I wouldn't be surprised if they finally give us a Voyager class Rodimus Prime in that upcoming "Power Of the Primes" line. So there isn't too much stressing over TR HotRod, especially since I'm still okay with my RTS version anyway. The only Wave 3 Deluxe I'm interested in is TriggerHappy. The other 3 are only "Clearance Price" worthy.

Wave 3 Meg's and OP are both "Meh" but I not opposed to troop building a couple more Gnaws and Kickbacks.

To be fair to retail, I don't see Leader class CW Skywarp and TR Blaster and Soundwave as "Quality Must Have" figures so it's no shock that they're shelf warming and slowing up the rotation of other figures in the Leader Class line that may actually warrant that $45-$50 price tag.

Hell up until the reveal of the upcomming Phase 6'ers, I've only purchased 2 Leader class figures since its debut (SkyFire and UM). My fear is that this my put retail off from buying Leader class figures in the future due to their abysmal hit or miss track record. Jetfire was repainted 3x's and they couldn't give that Armada Megatron away. Yet there are quite a few characters that rightfully deserves the Leader Class treatment.

@ Young P - Oh sure. I agree it has just as much to do with the toys not selling well as it does the retailer's wonky distro. The product has to be really good to sell at that price point. And I too fear for the Leader Class. Retailers are the boss here. If they deem them not worth their while, they could simply stop ordering that class assortment.

And I'm not a staunch defender of Hasbro and their practices, but all to often in regards to distribution, Hasbro becomes the fandom's scapegoat. When that's just not how the business model works. Their are many more links in the chain and some hold more power than others.

Much as I love the leader seekers - extremely unpopular opinion; but to date they're actually my favouite Seeker design and toy and I'd love them at Voyager - I think they did in some part contribute to the problem we have now. People tend to buy all three seekers... but all at that price point? When it's the exact same molding as each other (aside from Starscream's crown)? When they're out of scale with almost everything? It's very hard to justify. And that leads to them getting overstocked and going on sale and... yeah. I adore them but their creation probably wasn't a good idea.

The thing that blows my mind is, those Seekers sat and blocked the shelves through the entire holiday season, and Target and TRU never once put them on sale. While Walmart currently has all Leader class marked down to $37.something.

If an item isn't moving, and their warehouse is filling up with the next wave of that thing, why would they not mark it down to move it.

BUMBLEBEE : If all his limbs just pop one and so does his cabin (I expect there is some pins in there though) might it be possible to make a new torso ? with a rotating shoulder section - as adding that extra step and some slight adjustments to the forearms would make him transform as desired.

-------

The SEEKERS were a bit lumped together so having them in that size was likely a mistake if they'd made a brand new Voyager at some point that it wasn't going to be compromised by a gimic they'd be a total cash cow - but we may have to wait another couple of years for that to be possible.

I would have liked the Leader seekers more if they'd kept the back hinge they stripped from Jetfire as without it they look a bit silly to me.

--------

I hope the same problem doesn't result from over use of the Sky Shadow mould as i'd really like more of them - but lumping them all together is a really bad idea too.

I'd rather they spread them out and gave us a Thunderwing or Diatlus much later on in another line from that template.

I'd like some fresh moulds for Prime Wars 3.0

---------

I don't mind to much having a Ultra Magnus re-jig in the future waves - I'm actually kinda interested in the idea - even more so if it's Delta Magnus colours or makes some creative use of parts such as God Bomber compatibility while still using the car carrier form instead of the box trailer - if they made that kind of effort to make him a hybrid of original Optimus and Super Ginrai then i'd like that a lot.

If he's just Ultra Magnus with a Titanmaster in any colour or a straight Optimus repaint i'd like just shrug my shoulders a bit.
I'd be marginally interested in a straight western version of Super Ginrai even if they stuck a Magnus head on it as there is no reason Magnus can't have a box trailer just the once for a change.

We'll see I guess.

Oi oi oi oi oi...i bought that CW Armada Megs! coz i have Tidal Wave...and you can connect him to it(sort of) & that Generations Jetfire is really nice ;)

which brings me to the point....i dunno why they never made TR Megablitzwingtron...Leader Class :-? same with Broadside!

I understand Broadside given he's portrayed as extraordinarily large in a majority of his fictional appearances, but why would they make Blitzwing leader class? He's almost consistently shown to be around the same size of Megatron, Soundwave, Astrotrain, the Seekers etc. I can't recall a single time he was Jetfire or Magnus sized; it's not even like his original toy was particularly big.
