EDIT: Got Trypticon for Christmas, and me on 5 hours of sleep forgot a step in his transformation, so I thought the arms were attached backwards. I'm dumb. Anyway, I really like Trypticon, and I'd say he's the best Titan so far.

Had the networks wanted to keep airing new Transformers animated content, then they would have decided to renew the American G1 cartoon for more seasons, and had the American cartoon continued for more seasons, then The Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory wouldn't have been created in the first place since their whole reason for being was due to the American cartoon's ending with The Rebirth.

Just something to think about. ;)

But what does that have to do with wanting a dub of the Transformers Anime series The Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory?

I'm asking strictly as an Anime fan who would like to be able to enjoy these series dubbed so I can enjoy the animation without being distracted by having to read the subtitles. That's been my primary point all along. Can we please get these dubbed already?

Considering :HASBRO: dubbed Car Robots and what they called The Unicron Trilogy I don't see why they view these as different. Unless they realize just how bad season 4 (The Rebirth) really is compared to what Japan came up with (IMHO) and don't want to further embarrass themselves by dubbing the far superior Japanese seasons 4, 5 and 6.

On thread topic: Windblade and Twin Twist are listed as only in store on Target's website. Hopefully I'll find them soon to complete my Titans Return collection.

It has to do with the fact that it wouldn't have mattered if those three series had been dubbed back then or not because the networks were done with Transformers back then.

Bradimus wrote:Considering :HASBRO: dubbed Car Robots and what they called The Unicron Trilogy I don't see why they view these as different. Car Robots and the Unicron Trilogy were dubbed at a time when they were relevant and mainstream. Shucks, the Unicron Trilogy itself was even a co-production between the U.S. and Japan, with Japan filling out the finer details of the shows while the broader concepts were conceived in the West. Not to mention that the companies and actors involved in the dubbing of those shows were specialized in dubbing anime.

Conversely, the window of relevance for the three JG1 shows to be dubbed was back in 1987-1990, at which point I already mentioned that the TV networks didn't want Transformers anymore, so the best time for them to be dubbed was a time when Transformers was unwanted, and any time after that window was long since past the point of relevance for the JG1 shows. And it's not like there were that many good anime dubs back around that time anyway. Remember the original Voltron and its terribad voice acting/voice direction? Robotech was probably the best anime dub of the time and most of its voice cast would become some of the best in the LA-based anime dubbing talent pool, yet hardly any of them were in Transformers and hardly any of the Transformers cast were in anime dubs (outside of Voltron). Thus, any dub of at least The Headmasters that would have been made back then with the G1 cartoon's cast of non-anime actors mightn't have been all that good anyway. Who knows what dubs of Masterforce and Victory may have been like, or even how insane it might have been had they tried to dub Ginrai into Optimus Prime like the old Omni Productions dub did.

In any case, there's very little profit in dubbing the three JG1 shows at this point anyway since they existed primarily to sell toys that were around 28-30 years ago, so they're 28-30 years too late for a good dub of them to be relevant at this point, and anyone who has any real vested interest in watching these shows would have just watched 'em subbed by this point. And even then, that audience isn't even big enough to warrant a full dub since these three shows are so obscure and niche anyway when compared to other anime that get new dubs long after their original broadcast because of how much larger and devoted their fanbases are, making new dubs of those anime far more commercially viable.

My wife just texted me a picture from a local Target in northern CA, Titans Return are evidently being clearance priced. Titan Masters are $3.48 (regularly $4.99), a savings of 30%. she texted me a pic of Shuffler at this price. Not sure what else they had...but if anyone wants to get any last minute TR, now might be a good time to search, oddly enough.

I certainly agree with the fact that a modern *professional* English dub of the 3 anime series based on the original Transformers (Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory), would not be financially viable in any way shape or form. But a fan can dream right? If we throw out all notions of profitability, and just *imagine* for a moment how awesome it would be...yes it would be great. My greatest fear would be that since the original series actors are aging, as we all do, and we have lost several already, would there be enough talent to replace those that have been lost? The voices of the Headmasters and Targetmasters (for instance), could probably easily be replaced since with only 3 episodes of Rebirth, there was not much to be attached to. But classic characters such as those that appeared in seasons 1-3, would be nice if we could match up as many of the living voice actors as possible, for posterity sake. With Masterforce and Victory you have mostly new characters (I would have Ginrai BE Ginrai, and not Optimus Prime as the Omni dub tried to do, obviously to avoid confusion)... It could work, and it would be amazing. Will it ever happen, NO, but a fan can dream right?

Also I would not call the projects of the 1980's such as Voltron and Robotech *dubs* per se. A dub is pretty much using ADR to translate the original scripts form Japanese into another languages (such as English), with the original story still in tact, for instance--there are legitimate English DUBS for SDF Macross in existence, as opposed to Robotech which was completely different. Voltron & Robotech took footage from multiple anime shows and blended them together, created new scripts & dialogue that really didn't match the original content. Yes *technically* dubbed voices had to be provided, but the story of Beast King Golion & Voltron are very different. Also for the record, I thought the acting on Voltron was just as good as any other show from the 1980's, not sure where the idea it was terrible came from?

Trust me, were I a rich man, I would make this happen (new dubs for the classic anime series I'm referring to). Sometimes to see something cool come to fruition is more satisfying than financial profit. Alas I am not, but it is still fun to imagine.

Hasbro Toy Shop Restocked With New and Old Titans Return Figures

Thanks to a heads up from both DeathsReviews and Hellscream9999, we have word that Hasbro Toy Shop has restocked several Titans Return figures that you might still be looking for!

Chief among the new figures to be stocked is Titans Return Slugslinger, that pesky final member of the 1987 seeker targetmaster squad who has evaded several collectors. Slugslinger currently sits at the $16.99 price point and is in stock as of this writing.

Other figures have also made their way onto the stores site and are available as well. Pesky Decepticon repaint Quake has now come in stock, as has Kup and strangely enough Voyager Galvatron has come back in stock.

With Power of the Primes beginning to hit retail, are these the last of the Titans Return figures you need before moving onto the next line? Have these guys evaded you forever and are now finally in your grasp? Let us know if you managed to get a hold of these guys, or any other figures for that matter, in our Toy Haul Thread.

So...I guess we can officially ask...What happened to TR Deluxe Wave 5? (Twintwist, Windblade, Misfire) They were never available on HTS. They did have a placeholder on TRU for a few days before mysteriously vanishing...I know they were released in Canada in general, but were very limited in the United States. (Did any other countries get them besides Japan?) I'm glad none of these were on my list but...it would have been nice to see them at B&M just once.

I thought that was very odd as well. Someone in my area spotted them once, but that was it. I never saw them at retail and had to order them from online stores (BBTS, A3U, etc). I wonder if they'll show up at Ross or TJMaxx.

I started too late with them, around Wave 3 with Sawback, Nightbeat and Loudmouth. Here in the Dallas area we're cleaned out of Titan Masters. Some leftovers at Target and TRU of the last two waves before Ramhorn, but that's it.

A lot of stores skipped TM wave 2 (Clobber, Skytread, Apeface, Brawn) in favor of revision wave 2 (Apeface, Brawn, Nightbeat, and Loudmouth). I've never seen Clobber in person, he was never reissued in a later wave (Skytread was back in wave 4), he's the only single release TM I'm missing.

Also my experience was that TMs sold pretty quickly. At most they'd linger for a couple weeks and be gone. Target restocked wave 3 about 2 weeks before Christmas, but before that I hadn't seen anyone carry them since around September. Walmarts here never restocked when they stuck them on clearance late in the summer.

Target restocked wave 3 about 2 weeks before Christmas, but before that I hadn't seen anyone carry them since around September. Walmarts here never restocked when they stuck them on clearance late in the summer.

Man, Brawn and Nightbeat were the worst shelfwarmers, and I swear they were in every wave/revision afterwards because there was always more and more sitting on the pegs as the months went by

I still need that wave 5 Twintwist and Misfire. Got Windblade for a decent price on ebay, but probably won't be so lucky with those other 2... :-/

I was going to say the same thing, WTF happened to wave 5? Walmart also skipped that wave. Misfire is my favorite & I will never see him in a store. I had to order both Hasbro & Takara online. I still need a couple more Misfires & Windblades for customs. Yet fricken wave 1 & 2 are STILL in stores. :-x

For me I'm missing Terri-bull, Ramhorn, Cosmos, Seaspray, Blackshadow, Slugslinger and Trypticon and can't really find them here in Canada. (Well actually Blackshadow and Trypticon I have found a few of but I'm waiting for a sale and there have only been a few when I have found them)

And if you want to get technical Buzzsaw and Cogman are sort of Titans Return but in different lines.

This is part of why I'm going Takara for Perceptor, Overlord, Octane and Blitzwing so while I don't have those yet I will in a few months also the latter 3 actually come with more things then their Hasbro versions.

The only one I've actually missed that I'm unlikely to find in stores anymore is Terri-bull and I would love to know where I could buy him as a Canadian.

My local stores seemed to only get one case of Wave 5, which sold briskly. Found the legends, deluxes, and voyagers at Wal Mart, which eventually sold out and were replaced with... Wave 3! :BANG_HEAD: My TRU may have had the deluxes at one point, but soon stocked Wave 6. Somehow, I was able to buy slugslinger at retail but never saw a misfire.
Rushing in where Hasbro fears to tread (for now)...

I know a few here that stated Kup was scarce for them. I hope those people have found him. I just went to 2 wal-marts yesterday that both had gotten wave 6 deluxes. One store only had 4 Kups, the other had 6 Kups, and only 2 Slugslingers left.
