I actually didn't know that Krok is officially a Monoformer in IDW. I just thought the G1 toy never had an alt mode, but IDW Krok had a spaceship mode or something.

And therein does lie a bit of a problem - of the two modern Kroks we've gotten, one has the correct alt-mode kibble (the stealth bomber parts match the spaceship-looking parts on Krok's body), but the wrong body shape and type. The other one has the wrong alt-mode kibble, but the correct body shape and type.

I say to Hasbro:

Do we know if Topspin is based on any specific incarnation of him? Because with Perceptor having his AHM design, I'm starting to wonder if they're going for a full Last Stand of the Wreckers line-up which would explain the rather random inclusion of Perceptor and Topspin in a mostly 1986-onwards Deluxe line.

I can also see then doing his other Jumpstarter partner Twin Twist. Looks very similar to him, and they could do a Brainstorm-esc retool of this mold for him.



And yes, technically you can say he's probably based off of his IDW design, but that design was also close to G1.

So far out of this wave I can say Perceptor and Krok are definite wants for me. Brawn looks really good also. The others I don't really care for. FOr some reason deluxe is usually my defult size class, so I'm cool with that.

It's already pretty much a given that Topspin can be retooled into Twin Twist since they share general body-type like Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. There is still room in a later wave or as an exclusive, as the amount of Deluxes rumored is enough for one more full wave:

I noticed that about Topspin's guns too, Emerje! Much appreciated odes to G1 errywhere lol

I figure Hasbro is going with any characters from the IDW comics, and other G1 faves for their bot selections - why else do we have so many options for Optimus & Megz? But I love that they've done plenty from the 86 movie, and are dipping into all the 'Masters.

Ah, that's a pity. I thought engineering wise it looked pretty good, and aesthetically I personally love it, but IIRC it DID come from a relative "dark age" for Transformers.

I've had no QC issues with any of the three versions of the mold I own: Hasbro Megatron, Dreadwing, and TFSS Krok. If anything, I'd say that my Dreadwing and Krok versions feel tighter and more solid than my Megatron does.

Its not a qc problem, it's just the plastic used. Its similar to generations rattrap and scoop, very light and thin. It doesn't feel smooth like the plastic used since CW. The toys end up feeling very flimsy. Plus the stealth bomber alt mode had partsforming due to a really weak attempt at a "gun" for robot mode. It looks like ass on Club Krok.

So by that logic most of the original combiner was mold are all remolds of each other since they all have similar transformations.

You might be right my friend. The legs are up but the knees face forward on Topspin where the toes are forward on Triggerhappy. I guess we won't know for sure until someone takes some comparison pics.

Sky Shadow looks ok, but i'd prefer to wait to see the mold in Overlord colours

Broadside robot & carrier modes look good, but.....urgh....i'm really not a fan of that bulky back of the jet transformation

Sky Shadow's transformation is simpler than I expected. I wonder what modifications Overlord will have to use his jet cabin as a shield, if he does. SS looks really good, but I'll probably pass for space and money to just get the true user of the mold.

Broadside's jet mode just looks atrocious in that review. Stock photos made it look better. I can't look them up at the moment, but can anybody compare to see if he's mistransforming him or it really is that bad? His other modes look great.
