Finally got tired of hunting day in and day out so I purposefully quit looking until I knew they'd be saturated and found a POTP leader class Rodimus Prime and Optimus/Orion Pax. I was originally only planning on obtaining the Optimus but after looking over the Rodimus for several minutes, I decided to grab it too. I really want a G1 but this will suffice for now and it looks pretty good. I'm hoping I don't have the QC issues mentioned by others.

I went on a midnight run to Walmart and picked up PotP Optimus Prime and Dreadwind. I thought I would hate the gray parts on Prime, but it's not too bad. Orion Pax doesn't look as good as he did in reviews, but the combined leader class figure is decent. The vehicle mode is hideous, I doubt I'll ever transform it. Rodimus is definitely the better leader class figure of the wave. And now I might have to pick up a CW leader class Megatron to go with this Prime. If only his feet weren't so ridiculous...

And Dreadwind makes a pretty good arm for CW Galvatronus...

It's not a bad transformation, it's actually kinda fun. The problem is they tried to make the Orion robot arms too smothered, and sacrificed the vehicle mode for that. It needs a couple more panels attached, or chunkier arms.

I'll second Ironhidensh here. OP has a really fun transformation, better RP on both accounts (deluxe-ish and leader). It is a real shame the truck mode looks like ass. Just a couple of panels is all that was needed to rescue the mode.

See that's what bothers me about Prime. He looks pretty terrible not as a result of the gimmick itself but rather the way it was implemented. By the looks of things, Orion is a large Deluxe, as tall as Classics Prime. Had he been made into a regular Optimus Prime, with the trailer combining with him to form an original-design "super mode" ala the UT or RID it would have been pretty sweet. I love super mode/power armour gimmicks. But the "evolution" idea kinda fell a bit flat.

I love the trailer's transformation. It is better than any transforming component to Rodimus. But thats not what I was referring to. I wasnt even stating my own opinion on the toy (I think I wrote about it enough too and dont want to bore you guys). Just saying that if a fan who likes transformers and transforming them doesnt feel compelled to Transform his transformer, theres a problem.

My personal big beef with Optimus is that I dont really have a need for the Optimus Prime robot mode and integrating Orion into Optimus (aka the main point of the gimmick) is pretty weak. I find Rodimus makes that gimmick work better with the evolved form building all around him and the inner bot needing some conversion of his own to combine.

Yeah my problem is with the vehicle mode all around. I think both Pax and Prime are pretty good in robot mode. But the way the truck looks, it just seems like it's missing some panels on both the trailer and the cab. That's why I have no desire to transform it. The result of the transformation is not appealing to me.

That's why I'm not in a hurry to get him. I LOVE Rodimus Prime and I think he's brilliant, despite the bizzare shoulders. But one thing I REALLY hate on Optimus Prime toys are bad truck modes. MP-01 is barely tolerable. The classic deluxe is sad. Hybrid is an INSULT for the price that I would have to pay if I didnt made a nuclear NOPE. So, even though the Orion Pax is nice for the PotP leader Optimus, I already have a better Orion Pax with the Generations deluxe and I already have SO MANY Optimusses already. Guess I'll completely skip him, unless I find him for really, really cheap.

I also got PotP Optimus recently, and honestly, Orion's robot mode is the only mode i like on the whole toy. the Optimus robot mode feels lacking and the truck mode is awful. not to mention tiny

In other news, I finally got my hands on LG Blurr

I must sadly agree on all of the comments about Optimus' alternate mode. Usually I buy a TF with a specific display mode in mind(I am kind of picky about what I'll buy) and usually, it's the alt mode that makes me want to buy any specific toy. Not so much with Optimus.

In less than a week, this canuck got his Mandrake order straight from Japan! So I got:
A MISB Robot Masters R-Blade and a used but completely complete Legend God Bomber.



R-Blade is very neat. For the first time I got this mold unbroken and 100% complete. At 2000jpy, it was expensive, but oh so worth it....


...for my classic Jetfire display! Because we know who R-Blade really is. Any other classic colored/slyled Jetfires that I miss?



As for Legend Godbomber, what a fiddly mess. It should be easy to do, but way too many things untab or come undone too easily. The overall super mode look great, but the G1 original remain the most enjoyable to fiddle with.



Overall, I'm satisfied with The "Legendary" super mode of Pira Magna. However, I doubt I'll ever transform him again. Luckily, I still have the Stella Power Master Optimus from Hasbro!

Nah... The overall shape and color patterns must be pretty obvious. If I have to force myself to see a "G1 Jetfire" in a figure, it mean it don't count. also, 3p figures, non-transformables ones, or official Maccross don't count either.
