I'm going with custom painted factory leak. Didn't hasbro confirm the parts are gang molded?

Yes, they were gang-molded, bafflingly enough. If they had gone with blue plastic, the hands would have been blue along with the calves, repair drone, and the struts underneath the trailer, which is all correct, especially for the original toy. However, it would have made the floor of the trailer blue too. Somehow, Hasbro decided THAT was a problem and decided to cast everything in gray instead to save the color of the floor but mess up the repair drone, struts, calves, and hands.

It looks like the hands are painted. The blue doesn't match the blue plastic parts that were cast as such, like the head and most of the legs. What's interesting is that the pins aren't painted. That could indicate a factory job, such as the gray plastic hand pants being first painted, then assembled. It could also mean that if they were painted after the fact by the leaker, then they are very good at customizations, being able to disassemble and reassemble pinned structures. We need more answers, unfortunately.

I'd also like to point out that the piece on the pelvis is now painted blue, which was missing from the initial renders from Hasbro and the at-show examples from NYCC 2019 last month. Looks to be the same color paint as the hands. Again, it's hard to tell if that's a factory job or a custom job.

The one thing that I think puts it in favor of factory applied paint apps is that the inner calves are left untouched. I would think a talented customizer could do those too. It's a very "Hasbro" thing to leave those unfixed, as it's probably the least problematic "wrong color" issue on the figure as a whole. Just a little bit of blue paint, by comparison, has fixed the hands, eyes, and details on the pelvis. Painting those calves too would hit the paint operations budget a lot harder.

Blue hands, crotch and eyes is an improvement, assuming it wasn't applied by a fan.

This would look so good with a proper deco -- probably the best CHUG Prime to date, even better than SIEGE -- EarthRise Prime seem to have less kibble, a better truck-mode and a trailer!

Still not sure why they can't make the same grill work in both modes or why they didn't hide the wheels in the legs. And a head-sculpt closer to MP-44 would have been neat since PP and SIEGE already had something similar to MP-10. Mold looks cool overall though!

But the lack of attention to detail with the colours ruins it for me.. I don't know, for $50 I think the deco should be better..?

Everyone has a different idea of what "perfect" is anyway, I'm satisfied with "good enough" in a mass retail line, and I think this is well above that bar.

You can thank Studio OX for that. For whatever reason, Hasbro and Takara keep going off that altered "character model" for G1 Optimus Prime toys, even though the original G1 toy and Sunbow cartoon character model never had gray/silver detailing on the shins.

The inner and back of the legs are what I'm referring to. If the hands are solved that's my next pet peeve for this figure. It wasn't like that on the render, so they don't HAVE to be that way.

It's a small issue when you compare it to what this guy gets right. But still.

The solo picture of Optimus can be blown up to a pretty good degree. It indeed looks like the hands and blue codpiece are painted. The head and eyes are possibly painted as well. The only blue I see that is actually plastic are the legs.

On the comparison pic with Siege Optimus you can see what appears to be a little bit of gray on the hand on the left, facing the viewer. I say appears because they were pretty thorough, but you can probably tell it's painted best by looking at the uneven application on the codpiece.

Hmm... I remember hearing that a reliable leaker had mentioned OP's deco would change to paint the hands blue a bit ago, and now this with the hands (and crotch) looking pretty factory-painted (even the slight miss on the blue on the crotch looks like factory mistake), I'm thinking this is legit.

I'm fine with that, honestly. MP-10 is still a great figure in its own right, and can change between truck cab and robot with a minimum of cheating. MP-44 looks amazing, but damn, that is a LOT of shenanigans to get BOTH modes to look like the cartoon model. For the price and size, going with the simplicity of the MP-10 design makes sense for a mass-market Voyager-scaled (yes, I know the release is a Leader Class package with the trailer and all) "Sunbow" G1 Optimus Prime.

By the way, I just noticed that the central rectangle on the pelvis is STILL unpainted, instead of being painted over yellow like the smaller shapes on either side already are.

New In Hand Images of Transformers War for Cybertron Trilogy Earthrise Leader Class Optimus Prime

Thanks to some tips from Seibertron.com forum members Nathaniel Prime and bacem, we've got some exciting news for anyone looking forward to the Transformers Generations: War for Cybertron Trilogy - Earthrise Leader Class Optimus Prime figure, due out in the first quarter of 2020. These in-hand pics were found on the Facebook page of Vector Sigma. They give us some nice, up close looks at the sculpted detailing and "greebling" on the new Optimus Prime figure, as well as some comparisons shots with the recently released Transformers 35th Anniversary Voyager Class Optimus Prime, a repaint of the War for Cybertron Trilogy - Siege Voyager Class Optimus Prime done up in Sunbow animation colors from the G1 cartoon with cel shading effects replacing the "battle damage" paint apps. There is also a shot of Earthrise prime with his trailer in alt mode along side the newly released Transformers Generations Studio Series Dark of the Moon Leader Class Optimus Prime, and Road Police, one of the Micromasters available from a special Siege 10-pack released earlier this year.

The most interesting aspect of these pictures, though is the fact that we have some differences from the at show samples shown off last month at New York Comic Con (NYCC 2019). The hands now appear to be painted blue. They were unpainted gray plastic at the show in October. The eyes are also now painted blue, instead of yellow as in the initial Hasbro stock renders and at show samples. The lower square on Optimus Prime's pelvis is also now painted blue, a detail that is often missed in G1 Optimus Prime releases. What is unclear is if these paint additions are new operations being done at the factory to increase the screen accuracy of the figure, or if the person who procured this figure customized it with additional paint before posting pictures. It may be a while before we can solve that mystery, but until then, take a look at the photos below!

You can compare these new pictures of Earthrise Optimus Prime to the ones from our own Seibertron.com Galleries, taken at the New York Comic Con this past October 2017. Are you more excited than ever for Transformers Generations: War for Cybertron Trilogy - Earthrise Leader Class Optimus Prime? Do you think these additional blue paint applications are legitimate production changes or a fan showing off some customization skills? Let us know in the forums and stay tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest news on all things Transformers!

I don’t have it in hand and can’t say this is 100% the case, but the back of the head is painted the same blue as the hands and pelvis. I highly doubt a customizer would put any superfluous paint there unless it was factory applied.

They did effectively delay the figure by adding another wave to Siege, maybe they've taken the extra time to touch him up? If that's paint on Prime's hands that's some super impressive work on their part, I can't see even a hint of gray on them.

You know what? I think you're right about the head being painted, at least the back of it. This picture from the Seibertron.com galleries of NYCC 2019 shows that this was likely the case even at the show, though the hands were left unpainted then. Take a look!

Transformers 35th Anniversary Siege Figures Found in Canadian Walmart Stores

Postby william-james88 » Tue Nov 05, 2019 11:11 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
It took a while but Walmart Canada is making a big deal of their exclusive 35th Anniversary figures in stores. Siege cell-shaded Optimus Prime and Megatron as well as Bluestreak and Soundblaster were all spotted in a new display at a Walmarts in Ontario. The picture below comes from Markville and was posted on Cybertron.ca by Primetyme.

Also just a reminder for those who preffer shopping online, Bluestreak is now up on Walmart.ca for $29.99, which is the standard price of deluxe toys in Canada (it comes out to $23 USD). For those wanting all three, Prowl is rather easy to find at both Toysrus and Walmart stores in Canada while Smokescreen is still available at Toysrus.ca.

If ever you do find interesting toy sightings that you think are new, you can reach us by clicking here.

And remember that you can share your sightings with our community in the sightings section and on our boards in your region related thread.
