I can tell you right now that the first possibility you suggested doesn't work. The same leak that revealed Earthrise Megatron, revealed him as a Voyager. That would be no good as a match for Galaxy Upgrade Optimus.

The second thing you suggested is also highly unlikely, given the core retail line mainly focusing on the G1 cartoon.

I think he's most likely going to be either "Bog standard Earth tank in black and gray with red accents" or "Vehicle with an aftcastle made from his legs collapsing and tucking together, and a prow that ends up offset on his back in robot mode". The former is somewhat more probable, but I'm hopeful for the latter.

There is another reason that it's unlikely this will be Cybertron Megatron: ER Megatron will almost certainly be a new mold. While we did get a couple of non-G1 homages in Siege, it was always as a retool of another G1-based figure. I think the only reason we got Galaxy Upgrade OP and Hot Shot is because HasTak needed a way to re-use those molds, and because they probably wanted a leader class Optimus on the shelves. Without a logical mold to use as a base, I don't think we should expect Cybertron Megs anytime soon.

How about a leader Class Gigatron/ Rid Megs from leader Doubledealer? ;) it'd be a downgrade but it wouldn't be suprising if they did it to get milage out of the mold. (doesn't answer the question of voyager megs but you know, fun to think about)

Well stalker would be a given, either at retail or Selects, maybe Cybertron Defence Red Alert as well (then they can do scattershot in the third part)

IIRC, one of the Earthrise rumors claimed that Voyager Megatron would be a G2-based green tank.

Blurr floats, you were half right. Arcee is two very small wings from looking like she could fly for God’s sake.

Honestly, if Megatron has to be a tank again, a G2 version would make a lot of sense. Another tank-mode G1 cartoon Megatron would be redundant.

Plus, we haven't had a decent G2 green tank Megatron at the Voyager class in, like, ever. The GDO one was just Bludgeon with a Megatron head and G2 colors, while the Legends G2 Megatron was in Hero colors. The Classics "Ultimate Battle" one was a Deluxe, the Universe one was a Legends/Legion, and the TCC one was a redeco of the Thrilling 30 Legends.

I believe someone steamrolled him with corrective facts then had no source to sight so his response was well, I guess I’ll take your word for it.

Lesson: don’t steamroll people here with corrections without sighting some kind of source. Otherwise it’s going to look like you’re trying to burn people for your own joy and nobody here gets off on that.

Moving right along, I’m finding more and more redeeming qualities for ER Prime he’s pretty rad. If you missed Siege Prime, ER Prime is a must. I could see people getting this and saying they’ll never need another Prime again.

@Stargrave, well said!

Back to ER OP, well, time will definitely tell once I see him on a shelf. I got it, you can buy on line as they get available but I find it better finding them in the store. So with this version of OP, I believe it will be worth the wait and hunt.

Thing is that I can remember something being said about them being designed to be futuristic earth modes (as what people of 1986 thought we would be driving around in the far flung future of 2005-6...or 2010 for the Japanese) but the only one I could think of who would say something like that is Floro but I can't find anything other then his comparison of Arcee to Princess Leia. :-?

As it stands though, not quite sure why it matters Cybertronian design or not. Though I'm always bugged by the fact that the lore hasbro has given for the line says they're exploring the galaxy (hence the star map pieces) yet everyone is already in earth modes!

Dude honestly that kiiiiinda bugs me a smidge too. Like Earthrise doesn’t mean Earthfall, and all the supporting stuff is star maps like you said.

Somehow the stop motion commercial with them on Earth makes me forgive it all. Im so duplicitous I’m such a sucker for those danged commercials. Oh ok they’re on Earth boom done. Like the continuity in the highest animated form of the line gets precendence for me. I blame growing up on the cartoons.

Earthrise Battle Masters, Micromasters and Voyagers found at Canadian Retail

Postby william-james88 » Mon Feb 17, 2020 1:46 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
It was a good day hunting for your fellow editor. During a visit to my local Toysrus in the Montreal area, I found three classes of the new Earthrise line. The ones found were the Battle Masters with Soundbarrier and a rerelease of Smashdown, two sets of Micro Masters and voyagers Starscream and Grapple. They are the same prices as last year (so $29.99 for voyagers, ect). With the leaders already being found, the only figures left to be found are the deluxes. By comparison, The entire Earthrise line has already been found in the US, with the Battle Masters being the most recent. They were all found at Target, which is the only with Earhrise figures at the moment.

I'm still having no luck finding any Earthrise figures around the Twin Cities area. All of the Targets around me are still stocked full of Siege stuff. There's all sorts of Battle Masters (except Smashdown) available. Rung and Singe keep popping up from time to time. Same with the Micromasters, even including the harder to find Soundwave Spy Patrol from wave 2. The Battle Squad and Rumble & Ratbat 2-packs have all apparently dried up since Xmas. Deluxes are mostly Wave 4 (minus Mirage) with a healthy sprinkling of Wave 5 Crosshairs and Spinister. The Voyagers are almost all just Megatron, Starscream, and Thundercracker, with an occasional Optimus Prime. There's no sign of Springer or Apeface anymore. Soundwave was hardly ever on the shelves around here either. The Leaders are all Shockwave, with a few Ultra Magnus figures thrown in. No sign ever of Astrotrain, and no remaining Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Primes either.
