What was the big slipup with Apeface?

With Apeface, the shield/rear wing is fragile clear plastic, and the fit for the Jet mode is snug. Plus, with the way it wraps around the cockpit, its next to impossible to rock it loose, and more than a few reports have come in on that peg breaking off in Apeface's back
Ah, I see. Good to know. I take it it's hard plastic then?
It's clear plastic painted pink. No idea why they would choose to do it that way. First the peg is super long and the clear plastic is brittle so it just snaps without warning, you can't even feel it snap when it happens. They should have run a pin through it like they occasionally do on high stress parts.

You had already said it was painted clear plastic.
I was asking for confirmation that it was hard clear plastic rather than soft clear plastic. As for why they did it that way, maybe they wanted a rear viewport. Maybe it was easier to put that part on the clear plastic sprue rather than the pink plastic sprue.
Emerje wrote:The other problem is the peg isn't even necessary for alt modes since it's also secured by going over the cockpit (the real one for the Titan Master in the back), the peg is only necessary for using as a shield and could have been half as long.

Mine broke, but there's enough peg left to still function as a shield and honestly looks better closer to the arm.
I have to wonder if maybe they thought that lengthening the peg would make it
less likely to break. If so, whoops!
Also, according to TFWiki you actually
can sit the Titan Master in the forward cockpit
