I doubt such kids even exist. I suspect they'd be more attached to the G1 designs not via the Sunbow cartoon or the toys but rather the G1-inspired recent works, like Bumblebee or Cyberverse.

Eh, I think they probably exist, given that I'm one of them (or at least, was). I grew up primarily with the Unicron Trilogy, Movies, and Animated (along with hints of Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and RID2001), but I also had DVDs of G1 Season 1 and TFTM, and those held a place in my head and heart at least equal to, if not slightly higher than, most of the other parts of the franchise. I know kids like younger me most likely don't make up the majority of the young audience, but they almost certainly do still exist.
G2/Action Master/obscure variant-inspired redecos and retools are my lifeblood

Still, I think even on a modern budget a loose remake of many of these UT designs could easily appeal to kids if given a chance. While many modern redesign lose in overall plastic mass and gimmicks (especially electronics) the current trend in engineering has been toward both screen fidelity and better articulation. As it happen, the UT was a bit infamous for its lack of good articulation compared to the Beast era's over abundance of ball joints.

I'm sure if given a second chance in modern Generations line, these UT designs could appeal to people beyond the 2000's nostalgia. Or maybe I'm wrong and Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime was a total shelf warmer.

While all these ideas of how to get some Unicron Trilogy characters out of remolds and redecos are cool, honestly I think it would be even cooler if what remains of Earthrise and the last War for Cybertron toyline just kept doing minimasterpieces of G1 dudes, and then we had another trilogy of toylines with a mix of Unicron Trilogy and Beast Wars, so that those characters can get their own dedicated budget-masterpiece molds in the same vein the G1 characters are getting them now.

I would prefer it too if next trilogy was Japanese G1/Beast Era/Unicron Trilogy but I think the best we can hope with the current team are retool/pretool.

Oh they definitely exist. I've done my part by raising 2 of them ;)

Also, as a fan of Japanese Transformers, I'm pleased with what we've got so far in generations, and hope for more in the 3rd part if this Trilogy. I don't segregate Japanese TFs from others, if they existed from 1984-1991, it's all part of the Same original series IMHO.

You know someone would go as far as to buy the SELECTS repaints and then send Thew an incomplete set so the combiner mode is lackluster. "Behold! Sidewalk Vinaigrette!"

I swear, we can hardly keep on topic. :P

Anyway, I've got a question for everyone. Have you gotten everything you've wanted from Earthrise wave 1? Back in mid-February, I was able to find the entire first wave, all size classes (except Commander and Titan, of course), by checking a bunch of local Target stores. Each one had one of the size classes out. The only figures I skipped on were the Siege repeats: Smashdown and Astrotrain. How has distribution been during the COVID-19 epidemic Backstreet Boys Reunion Tour? I don't get to the store often because of shelter at home orders in Minnesota, but when I do get out to the store, I check, and most of what is out seems to be old Siege stock. Are people getting what they need online? Is everyone set with wave 1 and ready for wave 2?

Between Hasbro Pulse and my bro hitting Walmart, I was able to get Wheeljack, Hoist, Grapple, and Optimus, along with both Micromaster sets. Amazon came through with a Soundbarrier and two Smashdowns. I know the lines usually run a lil Autobot heavy but I wish there was someone other than Starscream for the Decepticons in Wave 1. Personally, I have no interest in the Seekers that we already received in Siege as I don't have an attachment to the jet alt-mode and I prefer the Siege robot modes.

I've seen Astrotrain and Optimus just once and never again. And that was a time where I didn't have the spare money to purchase either. Siege Shockwave is still shelfwarming too much to leave any more room on the shelves.

Grapple, meanwhile, is shelfwarming in large quantities while Starscream just comes and goes.

Haven't really seen much of the Deluxes or lower since the Siege line's toys of those size classes are still clogging the pegs.

So far I've got zero of wave 1 - ironworks seemed to be the only deluxe not available to order online for some reason but he's shown up a week or so back. Hoist and ironworks are my only wants at the mo with me happy to wait for sale price on cliff jumper.
I'll probably wait on Starscream depending on how hard/expensive it is to get skywarp/thundercracker with amazon UK with them being shite for stocking siege exclusives.

I've got all my wants for wave 1 but it was a combination of begging Target staff the check their stockroom and ordering online months ago. I've probably seen everything on store shelves at least once since....but it is pretty bad overall

I only wanted to get Wheeljack, Ironworks, and Soundbarrier from Wave 1, with the intent of waiting to get Astrotrain until there was a sale. I found Ironworks at Target before I was under stay-at-home orders, I got Wheeljack off Pulse, and my girlfriend found me a Soundbarrier in Germany before her study abroad program got cancelled. I also saw Astrotrain, Hoist, and I think Optimus, the Micromasters, and one of the Voyagers at that Target. There was also still a lot of Siege in every size class though, that's probably not helping, and that was 2 months ago, so I cannot attest to the current situation.

I ended up getting all of wave 1 that I wanted; Optimus, Cliffjumper, Hoist, Wheeljack and the Decepticon micromasters. Luckily I pre-ordered on Pulse, cause none have showed up at my Wal-mart, or anywhere else. I know Rung is going to be in Earthrise as well, but is Singe? I finally found a decent priced Soundblaster(35th figures never showed up here either), so Rung and Singe are all I still need from Siege.

I've yet to get anything new from Earthrise, all I got is the Smashdown re-release. He never appeared in my local area during Siege, it's all Wave 1 and maybe 2 here... pegwarming badly. Optimus, Astrotrain, Ironworks, Cliffjumper, Hoist and the Micromasters are on the list tho.

Singe won't see a re-release and as a mere redeco it's just as well. Fret not, he may appear at Ross or even Five Below in a couple months. The latter had some leftovers come in in the past, like Titan Master Ramhorn and currently Wave 1 & 2 Prime Masters overstock (I got my Alchemist that way, yay).

Honestly, Earthrise so far hasn't given me any major "NEEDS" except for the Modulators, Sky Lynx, Snapdragon, the Allicon, Scorponok, Doubledealer, and maybe Arcee. Cliffjumper and Starscream are the only ones that I regret not grabbing immediately, but I'm content to wait for deals and such.

Unfortunately, the majority of Earthrise is in the "Hey that looks cool, but I don't really need it" category. It's great for those that want to replace older figures with the mini-masterpieces of ER, but I'm happy with all my current representations of characters

I got most of Wave 1 direct from Pulse. The only figure I had trouble finding was Soundbarrier. Battle Masters were widely available early in Siege, but it's been frustrating since then, even online.

I've seen everything except the Battlemasters, which isn't really a surprise - and Astrotrain.

When I posted on here I was going to pick up a Grapple, when I got to the store I totally intended to get him. However, there were only two Starscreams and like 5 Grapples. There was a bit of a debate about how many and what mix of figures in a Voyager case, but it turns out it's two - one of each. So, people were buying the Starscreams and passing on Grapple. Grapple has since dried up, too - but the only place I've ever seen any Voyager was that Walmart. Which I've never seen Earthrise Deluxes or Leaders at.

I got Optimus Prime from Best Buy - that I gave to my boy. I don't own one myself. I got Astrotrain from "pot luck" Best Buy curbside. It wasn't a gamble for me, because I didn't personally own either one. I was kind of hoping for Astrotrain just to have a copy of everything in the house, but I would have been fine with Prime, too. Now that the odds are 50/50, I don't feel like I want ANOTHER Astrotrain, and I'm not giving my kid TWO 50.00 figures just yet - he's seven. I almost wish I ordered two Leaders and hoped someone had enough sense to give me one of each, but - it is what it is. I never saw a retail Siege Astrotrain, btw.

As for the Deluxes, I've seen them at Best Buy (when I got Prime) and Walmart. My local Walmart - I saw a Ironworks at Target, and I've seen the Micromasters at Target many, many times. They put out at least three shipments of Deluxes at my Walmart. I bought the entire first run except Ironworks as I wasn't sold on getting him at the onset. Then, they got another shipment and when I got there what was left was a Cliffjumper and three Ironworks - I got the second Cliff for my kid. Still passed on Ironworks. I didn't get him until I bought all the Netflix guys except Chromia because she wasn't there. I got her on another trip to the same Walmart, where she was the only figure there at the time - period.

So, disregarding the Netflix guys, that is what I've experienced regarding Earthrise guys to date, but I have all of Wave One except Soundbarrier because not one store in my area carries Battlemasters. I already have Smashdown, so that's a non-issue.

That is actually incorrect according to the Target employee that got me my Starscream and Grapple from the back and Entertainment Earth's case listing. The wave 1 cases are 2x Grapple and 1x Starscream which matches up will with what you saw in store and any time I've seen them.
