I don't know why you're fighting this so hard, if the neck plate looks different, that would constitute a running change, if it doesn't then tryp is just lucky, just do some investigative journalism

Yeah, I need to know too, this is intriguing since my figure looks the same as everyone else's. Is it the neck flap? Mine is still tight like new, so that doesn't bother me one bit.

P.S., does anyone have a problem getting the front section of Siege Megatron's tank mode into the notches up front? It's not the actual tabbing that's the issue, but it's getting that part between the tank treads. There is almost no clearance, and requires me bending the plastic a little to otherwise do so, and I'm worried that I'll break it.

Yup, another reason why I just don't like this mold

I love the mold, but that's probably the only issue I have with it. Weird thing is, this issue didn't happen for like the first 3 transformations, it just goes in perfectly without any bending of plastic, but ever since, it's been a bit of a hassle to push the piece down between the treads [-(

Intrigued by this Megatron situation, I pulled out both of mine for inspection. Regular retail and Combat Hero.

If you look at that hinged platform the head is on in Trypmeat's photo, you can see that the back half of the side is bumped out. Probably creating the friction needed to keep that panel in place. My Reg release does not have that bump out. It's a straight shot all the way down the side. And, like many's his head is loosey a la goosey. However, Combat Hero does have the bump out on that panel, and his head stays put much better than reg release. Now it's not as tight as in that video, but much tighter than Grayatron. I can't pick him up by the head with out it moving.

What this all means, I'm not sure, but something changed mold wise between the original and it re-use. Soooooo.... :???:

Line yes, the thickness is what is important hereImageImage thats a chunk of plastic from a transformer box, the risge is the same thickness as one from a cardback figure Image
and same thickness as a GoKenzan Card if that helps more

Yes, when I compare my first run Siege Megatron to my Selects G2 Megatron the ridge is noticeably thicker on the G2 version and there's more friction. I can easily see it turn up on standard Siege Megs since the mold would have been modified and is still in use.

Mine's from January before the Selects megatron was released or announced at all, so more could be in the wild :D, A running change for Megatron is possible, unlike starscream, where we had no reports after that one dude

Though it's old news for everyone else here, some thoughts on the new SIEGE Optimus Prime -- big surprise, I really like it! He succeeds in evoking the image of the classic Optimus, and is easily the best CHUG Prime, there isn't even a competition.

Image

Image

Looks like some aspects of him were inspired by MP-10, and maybe a little bit by MP-44 with how the truck's grill and other stuff fold over from the front to his back.

And speaking of his back, I'm not loving the giant board they stuck on it. I wish they had worked out a tidier way to do it. It appears they sculpted his classic back shape underneath it.

Image

I would have liked a more on-model truck-mode, I know they were going for "Cybertronian" but it looks more like his classic truck with a bunch of stuff tacked on it. Maybe the back would have been more compact otherwise.

Also wish they had painted his crutch blue so I wouldn't have to do it myself. And maybe included a hint of tankers in robot-mode. But overall this is pretty much what I wanted for my CHUG collection, for the Rebirth cast. Shame it wasn't created years ago!

Image

Image

I like the upgraded articulation and robot-scale that HasTak has established with this line. (Heads back movement is a little limited for everyone though. And I would have liked for Prime to bend his knees forward a little.)

I feel that SIEGE is more true to the characters, unlike say Titans Return that made everyone Headmasters including Perceptor and the Targetmasters.

Still not a big fun of the war paint. But maybe it's a little less harsh in-hand. And one advantage is that future paint wear will blend right in with the fake wear, I guess.

Weird thing, his flight stand port is too small! It doesn't work.

So I guess the $64 question is, is this an intential change, or a deviation between two casting moulds? I wonder how many Hasbro has in play for a figure, if they are stamping an entire run out of one or if they have 2 (or possibly multiple in one) seperate cut to speed production? Moulds are expenvie, but I could maybe see production being high enough to justify having them.

Found ONE, just one Siege figure locally. Starscream.

Looks good in both modes, but some parts are a bit too loose, for example the chest just pops off with a strong breeze.

Then the fists don't want to seem to fold up properly.

Are those things a thing with him or did I just get super lucky?

Thats a thing with a lot of Siege figures, it seems. Anything relying on the plastic nub in a hole hinge design seems to suffer from big fluctuations in Tolerances. The side leg flaps on Ironhide are another popular culprit. For Screamer, rhe chest floppi g off is so well known its become scandalous: someone claimed to have found a Running Change with rhe Chest hinge replsced with metal pins, but no one has been able to colloborate the sitings, including Hasbro, and the claimed runni gbchange matches up real close to a fix advocated by dome Youtubers. So either someone made up a hoax for attention, or someone bought, fixed, and returned a Starscream and someone bought the Returned Figure with the aftermarket pins added.

Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!

For the last couple of years I convinced myself that the CW and TR figures can represent G1 in my collection, but now I'm leaning towards collecting all of Siege to represent G1, while CW and TR will represent IDW.

I was hoping to avoid spending more money and making more space. The curse of a collector...
