So basically this is a reissue of Magnus with some small knick knacks inside a different box, promoting the new Netflix series?

Yes, but that's what it was all along anyway.
There could still be some deco differences for Magnus, right? Like, his Decepticon colors, as some are speculating.

Yeah for sure, but I thought that went without saying since none of these are straight rereleases. I thought Rodimus was talking more about the box contents.

I was. But I get why Sabrblade said that. I should have made it clear that I expected Magnus to be a repaint of some sort. He speculated a Decepticon version, I'm guessing maybe a Diaclone version?

Judging from the description, it's some deco that's accurate to the WFCT cartoon.

Welp, pre-ordered all 8. That's what I get for deciding to be a WFC completionist.  Oh well, I'm not pushing myself, they're pretty great repaints and there's a few in there like Hotlink, Magnus, Megatron, and Scrapface that I'm really looking forward to.

A little annoyed that I have to dig through a "compound" to get to the energon included with Magnus. Would rather have the cape, but that's probably a minor thing he doesn't keep long.

Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity not to use the alternate head sculpt from the Fan Vote 3-Pack for "Decepticon" Mirage. I guess that's how he looks in the actual show, but it would have been nice to have that alternate sculpt done in solid plastic and painted to appreciate the difference in detail that are otherwise obscured by the translucent blue plastic of the aforementioned use.

I'd love to have that Teletran display, but knowing it's cardboard pieces makes it less interesting, which is a good thing, because I do not care to have to pick up "grittier" redecos of Sideswipe, Hound, and Chromia.

Hotlink is a must, and more Battle Masters (with blast effect parts) are always welcome. I'm getting Megatron as well, JUST for Pinpointer and correct colors Lionizer. Scrapface looks interesting enough as a redeco and is potentially a new character, so he's on my want list. I wasn't going to bother with Decepticon Disguise Mirage are first, but I do love that mold, and am tempted to "triple dip" on him.

Ultra Magnus is a tough one. I'm happy with the original Siege release. I'd like to have the energon cubes and maybe the extra Rung figure with an "energon powered" deco, but I don't need another version of Ultra Magnus with more battle damage paint apps, unless I can repurpose it as Delta Magnus. We can't know yet, because they're keeping it all a secret. Makes it hard to pre-order when you don't know what you're really getting.

Since we know we're getting a Wave 2 of these Netflix editions, what will those figures be? We need five more Deluxe Class figures for the Teletran-1 display. Will it just be those 5 last deluxes, or will it be another wave of 8 total, giving us some more Voyager 3-packs and maybe another "secret" Leader Class figure?

Maybe wave 2 is some earthrise stuff. Wheeljack and Bee look rather prominent in that trailer.
Prime will be the voyager offering, I think that's a safe bet.

For now assume online-only, limited as they are. I still have a few lingering 35th in mine (still enticed by Soundblaster...).

Though if you want Megatron better get him while you can, or wait for them on Ebay: he comes with an orange Lionizer and more importantly, Pinpointer.

I can't get these right now. I'm still working on Piranacon. This is too sudden. I can't keep up with this hobby financially anymore. Maybe if Piranacon wasn't double the normal price. As seen with the Masterpiece line, Takara is getting way too greedy now. And I know, Japan pricing! But it's still $60 for a $30 voyager that used to be $14.99 not too long ago. They'll be charging $90 for voyagers in no time. I want a few of these but I just can't keep up anymore. I definitely need Mirage but the others aren't that important. I need to be extremely picky, my collection is getting way too big & I don't want to keep blowing all my money on this never ending drug addiction. :(

He's a Voyager, but with a crapton of extra luggage. Also, when was Snaptrap/Turtler ever $14.99? Hun-Gurrr may have been discounted to that, but he's a baseline figure who only came with the Prime Armor feet and an Enigma, rather than a hefty retool laden with extras. And if you meant that Voyagers in general used to be that price, you're completely and totally deluded.

Well, luckily for you Mirage is only a Deluxe. Also, these aren't due out for a bit. But if it still ends up being too soon for you? Too bad so sad.

I think Aimless Misfire was referring to voyagers in general, which were only $15, but that had to be at least 10 years ago, probably even longer. I mean, I remember buying deluxes for $10 and voyagers for $15-16, but I can't remember when. I do agree that it's getting expensive just to get a line of regular release figures, forget about the exclusives.

I'm pretty sure Voyagers were NEVER $15 except on sale or at stores that sold below MSRP. During Cybertron, the very first series to use the term, Voyagers had the MSRP of $20. Deluxes were $10, however. Those were the days.

"Voyagers" have never been $15. The first wave of Voyagers ever, from Cybertron, were $20. Pretty sure you have to go back to Beast Wars Mega class some 25 years ago before you find the size equivalent for $15.

Yeah, really. I think at this point AM is nothing but a whiny delusional troll.

I thought I remembered Voyagers being $20 at the time of the term's debut in Cybertron (and staying that way for a while, because I know got Leo Prime for that price as well), and I actually confirmed that via the Wayback Machine before posting.

Maybe, maybe not. But the $20 price tag of 2005-2010 felt decent for a Voyager at the time relative to our earning power, which has not kept pace with inflation so well. And since 2011, Transformers have dwindled in mass while the prices have crept upward... But it could be worse.

That's a valid point as well.

So we're really only paying $5 more comparatively. And argument can be made as to weather the figures have gained that much value over time or not.

I would say that strictly speaking we're not, if only because while engineering has shown improvements in some areas... the toys are priced chiefly by the quantity of plastic, which has diminished.

Not at all. The most expensive part of the process is the molding. A higher parts count means more molds. The amount of plastic doesn't have much to do with it, it's the complexity of the figure above all.

If amount of plastic was actually as big a factor as you claim then that giant RID Bumblebee should cost as much as Titan Devastator, which isn't the case.

All in all, I am pretty impressed that Hasbro found a way to still give us really nice and affordable toys.

When reading the details of the Ultra Magnus Spoiler Pack they say the figure is 7" tall I think. So that's the size roughly of a deluxe figure, correct? It may just be me but I passed on the UM Siege figure because of the size. I don't like how he's a "leader class" which makes him larger then almost all the other figures including Optimus. I'd prefer him to be the same size as Optimus....

Not as much as you think, in fact when weighed some current figures are heavier than previous ones. ER Hoist for instance is the heaviest of his wave at 3.2 ounces or 91 grams, and Wheeljack is an average 2.7 or 77 grams, same as Siege Mirage and surprisingly, TR Sergeant Kup. Just saying ;)
