That brings up a point that's been plagueing my mind for a while now.

Would it have been better for Hasbro to BS a Voyager Shockwave's vehicle mode so it could be sold at the price point without issue and make Megatron a leader class figure similar to Shockwave with potential attachments that would evoke a "Galvatron Armor"?

Because I'm still hoping we see all the Evolution designs from POTP at some point with "deluxe" class Megatron turning into leader class Galvatron :lol:

I don't. So far the Siege line has been knocking it out of the park, except for this dud. It's not horrible, but it's the weakest of a near-flawless line.

Same, he feels like a carry-over from potp, as far as quality and plastic density; plus the design has so many cut-corners that I just find myself liking it less and less
This might have been answered before, either here or in the comics forum, but I don't remember. Was the figure designed first, and the comic had to use it, or did the comic character concept get finalized and the toy had to conform to it? (I would think it's the former, I don't see Hasbro bending to IDW's will, but I had to ask.)

That would have been nice, but I think since there were separate Megatron and Galvatron figures, Voyagers no less, I doubt there were plans for a PoTP leader Megalvatron. Besides, I think Hasbro reserves those special gimmicks to characters *they* think are the "coolest" or most popular. (Hence the PoTP Hot Rodimus Evolution leader figure, which was, quite frankly, severely underwhelming to me.)

As for the "leader" class Siege Shockwave, I would have taken a BS vehicle mode at the Voyager price as opposed to what we got, because it couldn't have looked much worse and it would have been almost half price. And they nailed the robot mode so well, my Siege Shockwave is probably staying in robot mode permanently. He's seen vehicle mode only once, just because I wanted to see it for myself in hand. Once again, severely underwhelming.

Oh, I'm pretty sure there were plans for everybody on the poll (although since Super Megatron is a thing you may be right about there not being a Megalvatron evolution design). And in fact, I'm pretty sure SIEGE Shockwave is a quick reworking of his PotP evolution design into C.O.M.B.A.T. Leader armor, hence why the armor looka like his limbs.
Speaking of the poll, I still wish Thunderwing had beaten out Primal (Whom {i]I[/i] consider to be the underwhelming one, slightly worse than Optimus Prime even - neither took to the gimmick well IMO and both have color conflict issues; I find the truck somewhat more appealing than the munky albeit only for the Matrix and Orion Pax's robot mode. I passed up the regular version of Primal and only want the Throne version for the smegging Prime Masters). Thunderwing would have adapted well to the Evolution gimmick since it's basically what his old toy did. Plus he could use a bigger & badder update, and heck his big claim to fame in the Marvel comics was stealing the Matrix.
What makes Roddy so underwhelming for you? Is it the Hot Rod component? Takara's bad habit of boring Leader-class Autobots' fistholes a smidgen too wide? *narrows eyes very hard at the Legends Super Ginrai mold* I think of all of them Rodimus is the only one to implement the Evolution gimmick well, and his Rodebago mode beats the heck out of Titrod's IMO. And hey, finally a Rodimus Prime big enough to throw down with the original Galvatron mold as opposed to...

Once again, what makes it underwhelming to you? I'm sincerely curious, since it looks to me like a clever downsize with reworked legs that still passes as a toy raygun to hold - or to blast a convenient exit hole for Skyfire :-D (it's been a few years since I last saw that episode, and Skyfire's smug "I can now" still makes me laugh). And your disregard for the larger modes does not erase their parts' cost or mass :P
I think they made Shocky Leader-class because A. his evolution design probably adapted more readily to C.O.M.B.A.T. than whatever they had planned for Megs and B. they doubtless wanted to sell Megs opposite Optimus, who was at the Voyager price point.

Still feels kind of weird for jetfires backpack to not do much, it could have had a couple of seats in there or be used for storage of some of his bits. I like the two hidden tabs and maybe they can be usedto carry troops into battle but not sure how well that will work out trying to support a deluxe figure hanging off them.

The TonTon Review from a month or so ago shows exactly that, its great for a play feature for kids.

Well this is the Siege thread, so let's keep it Siege related. All I'll say is that the Hot Rod component was pretty much the only part I liked. I wish it was sold separately.

I like the base Shockwave figure itself. I even use the extra parts as a glider. But in vehicle mode, he just doesn't make sense. I know what he's supposed to be, but it's just not Shockwave to me. I don't know, maybe it's G1 bias? I mean, I'm not a Geewunner per se, though I did grow up on it and it's the biggest reason I like Siege so much. It's a true update on G1 figures. (Except Ravage.)

I think of the Decepticon vehicles like Tron vehicles - there’s not a focus on aerodynamics it’s different to be sure but Shockwave? Just turn him upside down and he’s the spittin’ image of his G1 toy I mean he’s a gun. He’s a gun they flipped upside down but we all know what it is. I have two: part of the back of Skytread's tank portion is smoothed out, and on Whisper the pin on the cockpit isn't pushed in all the way through so it scrapes against the plastic.

I really kinda want this guy, but the Siege line has been so incredibly disappointing to me, I’m afraid of opening it and being let down.

I would definitely keep him. I understand your hesitance. The packaging renders don't do him justice. Jetfire is the most solid figure I've seen in a very long time. His level of detail is astounding, and he's absolutely huge! Definitely worth the cost of entry.

Brunt arrived from Amazon today! My first and quick impression is that he's a little more complex than Cog. But I haven't really had time to play with him.

Here's something cool I found though, don't think it's been posted yet..?

Re: Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread

Gotta say, other than Masterpiece, SIEGE has to be the best line yet. The likeness is good, there's attention to scale in robot-mode, the decos are more precise than before (for Hasbro), they keep getting creative with the transformation steps, and.. it's fun! All those pegs ports and different options, and the Weaponizers... Hasbro also seems determined to complete the cast.
CW forced everyone into combiners -- and TR, while I appreciated getting the Rebirth cast, forcing the Headmaster gimmick on everyone was frustrating -- and PP was kind of without real identity and more like leftover of the former two run. Siege feels more cohesive. The war paint doesn't even bother me anymore.

You hit the nail on the head. The price went up and I can clearly see where the money went.

Don't forget the figures not being compromised by gimmicks, meaning more articulation! :DANCE:

Instead of being allegedly "compromised by gimmicks", they're just compromised by short arms and fat hoods. And near-nonexistent necks.
WANT:
* Cybertron Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* DotM Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

Di Bonaventura is not a credible or trustworthy source. And most fans do like the diversity push, thanks.

Skritz wrote:Has QC truly been that bad for Siege? Beside the odd loose single ankle on figures I've had no crummy ones compared to POTP where it seemed like everything was a factory error.

I think they're just perceiving it that way because of brand unification knocking the lenses out of their Cult of Takara goggles.

Only Siege figure I've had QC issues with was my Skytread; everything else has had great QC.

And best of all, the one toy we know is only from Takara ,Big Powered, suffers from more qc issues than most mainline siege figures (some parts are very loose)
