So I noticed something odd while I was filling away my new bots' instructions. Spinister's is rocking the Autobot deco

Image

I gave all my Siege manuals a quick flip through and it's the only one that I have that is crossing faction lines.

Spinister is an awesome figure. The bot is amazingly tall and sleek. Much taller than the standard Autobot deluxe, taller than both Ironhide and Impactor just by a little. Transformation is involved and it ends up being a very cool attack helicopter. I found the faux cockpit leg to peg in just fine, but works better if you flip the hip joint/section 180°. All the torso movement is a super clever way to deal with all the fuselage bits.

While on the subject of "caboose wave" 'Cons - Apeface is also a great figure. Easily in the top 10 of Siege figures. I've read a lot of concerns and negatives and I feel they're all overblown, except for the peg breakage. I can see how that's going to be a problem and will need to be modded in one way or another.

I did find transformation was a little intimidating at first (even though I did a lot of research), but I figured it all out without help and now makes complete sense. Good thing as the instructions really are as bad as everyone says. All modes peg together tight in logical ways that aren't hard to figure out (lots of research may have helped). Plenty of articulation and I dig the white plastic as it's so much harder and sharper than expected and feels just like the plastics used line wide.

The gun is loose in the ports except the hands, but hasn't fallen out during play. My opinion is that the ports are probably a little big for the shield, but oddly not it's primary peg hole.

It's a solid, tight, dense brick of figure that , to me, perfectly represents the character. Definitely one of the best of the line.

These two look very good together and I'm still shocked with how tall Spinister is.

I got adventurous and decided to mod Apeface's rear peg hole. Full disclosure I got the idea from the TFW Apeface thread, but I can elaborate on the details.

Because I lack a micrometer, I had to make a few assumptions. I assumed the standard peg/hole size on Apeface is 5mm, so before I committed to any modding I did some testing first. Apeface's gun really only pegs tightly into the fist hole and is pretty loose everywhere else. I also found that the gun while still a little loose, but tighter in the rear peg hole than the others. Apeface's shield/tailfin is only overly tight in the peg hole on the back used for ape and jet mode, but pegs everywhere else just fine. Additionally I test fit the shield on several other Siege figures and found that it pegged perfectly fine. At this point I feel it's safe to assume that the shield peg is 5mm, but the hole is slightly too small.

TL;DR: The damn hole is too small - get a nice and sharp 13/64 (or 5mm) drill bit and hand drill the hole out. About midway through you may need to use some pliers or hand drill as the going gets tough. After a small amount of plastic was removed, I just rotated the bit back and forth with a little bit of a wiggle to remove any remaining burrs I created and to smooth out the hole. Be careful of the screw at the bottom of the hole as the bit likes to catch on it.

Now the shield slides in and out with no issues and still pegs onto the arms nice and snug. This is why I didn't sand the peg. As a bonus the peg hole doesn't even look like it's been touched.

Pics can be viewed here.

Aren't they packed with the Micromaster Battle Squad? Those have already hit retail. There weren't any Ratbats on the peg, but I assumed someone had beaten me to them.

They only just recently came out, I wouldn't lose hope yet. Worst-case scenario, you can always pay three times MSRP to get them from eBay.

STILL having trouble getting Apeface's ape face to transform without other parts pulling loose? Then try using Death's handy-dandy guide to getting Apeface's ape face into ape mode!

All of the parts of the upper body are kind of linked together, so if one is out of alignment, none of them will behave. So start by tabbing the black 'shin' portions of the robot into the ape chest:
Image

This will put the portions of the ape neck fringe into position so they will tab in more easily with the wedge-shaped portion of the neck fringe, connected to the nose cone:
Image

Angle the nose cone back, using your mortal finger stumps to hold the neck fringe portions in place so they don't untab. Also use your thumb to brace the black chest portions and keep them tabbed in as well. If one section gets pulled on, it can untab the other sections!
Image

Now you can unfold the ape head section from beneath the nose cone using your free hand. Fold it down. There are two small notches in the last section of the neck flap. Those should hook into two small tabs in the neck fringe as pictured:
Image

On the BACK of the neck flap is a small tab just above the ape head. And the hinge of the nose cone has a matching notch. Those will eventually need to push together, and that is the main thing that will keep the head locked into place:
Image

While still keeping everything braced in place with your fingers, take the dual hinge portion of the ape neck flap, and push the tab behind the neck flap into the notch on the nose cone hinge. You should feel it catch and lock into place. Keep the neck flap held down while doing this. This motion should PULL the notches and hooks at the front of the neck into place so there are no visible gaps. If any other sections (the black chest portions or behind the neck fringe) become untabbed, re-tab them in and start over. You WILL eventually get them all to stay tabbed, and get those neck flap tabs/grooves snapped in.

Found Rung and Singe today. Gotta say, Rung's a decent little figure. Only thing I wish he had is knees. Otherwise he's great. Singe is decent enough, but since I didn't get Skywarp's three pack, I didn't get both Targetmasters for Spinister. Oh well, not a major thing for me

Hey guys I don't know if this is newsworthy or not, so I didn't send it into the news posts. However my local Target is now clearancing out the rainmakers oh, I just bought the three pack set for 56 bucks. If anybody's been putting these off like I have, now is the time to jump.

So you don't post something that might be newsworthy or help the community but instead complain about why you don't post?

A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled into a Youtube video tutorial that showed how to swap the eyes on SIEGE Soundblaster and Soundwave so that Soundwave could have his red eyes. I bought an extra Soundwave and Soundblaster, which I now have in hand, but now I can't find the tutorial. Anyone know which video I'm talking about? Swear I saw it on Youtube, but can't find it for the life of me. I'm assuming I just need to use an exacto-knife to cut into the seams on their heads until they "crack" open, but want to make sure I do it correctly without damaging the heads.

Was the video specifically about swapping the eyes or was that just a part of it?

Haven't seen a video, but I've been considering doing the same if Soundblaster goes on clearance. I've been watching this thread.

https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/ ... d.1172337/

TL;DL - the two halves are pegged together, but you'll have to use an x-acto knife to cut the glue and pry the halves apart.

Looks like quite a few users are having good luck with just painting the eyes.

I swear it was a dedicated video. I've been so busy this year that I didn't even think about swapping the eyes out until I stumbled into a video about it. The yellow eyes on Soundwave really bug me for some reason. It's one of my pet peeves about Soundwave, which is odd because I love his G1 toy so much, but I'm also a stickler for Decepticons and Dinobots have red eyes while Autobots have blue, with a few exceptions thrown in just to break the rules. Soundwave should have red eyes on modern toys except for reissues of G1 toy. Maybe I dreamed up the Youtube video!

I got Spinister over Christmas and found Singe the next day at Target. Both are really lovely figures, I dont have many helicopters in my generations collection so he was a very welcome addition. As others have mentioned swiveling the rear hip instead of the leg does indeed make the lower leg nestle in there better. My only gripe is his hands are very exposed, but its to imagine where else they could have hide them

These 2 arrived from amazon. and with them, I only need 3 more Siege figures, and 2 of them have been secured. And with these 2, thanks to an amazon glitch, siege deluxes end the same way they started for me: $8 deluxes

Finally took Apeface to work and took some pictures. I still say he is my favorite voyager from the line, he is fantastic. robot and ape mode are great, jet mode is still ok and exists, but he is fantastic.

If you see him, get him.

Out of curiousity, how does everyone else's Spasmas peg into the titanmaster pegs? Because mine doesn't seem to like to do it, and I'm too nervous to force it to peg on

Just in general. Mine only pegs on to the pegs on Apeface himself, but an Titans Return pegs require more force than I'm willing to risk applying

couple of Siege figures to focus in on.

First up, I love Crosshairs. In my opinion, this is the best use of the Ironhide mold, I like him more than Ironhide and Ratchet. The color design on him is really good, and I enjoy him with Trenchfoot. I also love the head sculpt, it is fantastic and I love the faceplate

Also, I cannot continue to say how much I love Omega. This is the Titan class figure we always deserved

The greatest thing that happened to me in the wake of X-mas was going to what I nicknamed a local "Neighborhood Target" which as some may know is slightly smaller than a regular Target just like a "Neighborhood Walmart".

I went to 2 of them but at only one did I find both Spinister AND Crosshairs marked down as Clearance for $9.99. So mistake or not I was getting them at that price. All the other deluxe and voyager figures were marked down too.

If this will eventually occur at any and all other Target stores then fans got a win-win situation coming up...'nuff said! :KREMZEEK: :VEHI:
