God, I'm not on the hyper cartoon accuracy train, or even the g1 train, but a cel shaded boxset of the figures from the cover of the '86 movie, with the newer molds, would be really hard to resist
Do you mean just the prominently featured few, or all of them? Because there are like 5 or 6 'cons on there as well...

eh, whichever, I'm flexible, probably all the main bots and cons; we'll be getting arcee and arguably legends tr blurr, I dunno, just seeing that pic made me nostalgic for the movie
I totally get that, and it would be cool if we had all the characters in Siege to get it done. But I'm sure some figures from previous lines would be happy to substitute.

Yeah, I think cyclonus holds up, but the new cohesive scale and aesthetic would really bring a new box set together better than the old one, and I'm not saying we need it now, or next year, but when this trilogy/scale/aesthetic is being seen off, it would be a cool note to go out on

His extras were made known from previous toy listings. It was Ultra Magnus's deco that was kept secret and so people expected there to be something more to the deco than just bigger mud stains.

I'm guessing that, if they did end up doing something like this, so as not to try to sell a $300 boxset, they'd sell multiple smaller sets with the characters split up randomly, of like Magnus + Cyclonus, Rodimus + Galvatron (obv), Blurr + Arcee + Scourge, etc.

Yeah probably, but it would be cool if that allowed them to put in blast effects from the poster for the bots and a display piece with the poster as the background ala the studio series with the cons

Buried somewhere in the product copy or on the package, it mentions this is material that kids can excavate the Energon cubes from. I expected one of those sandy things that show up as stocking stuffers where you dig out a gemstone or something, not, well whatever that is!

I've been watching RT for years and haven't seen anything like that, they might of responded to criticism and likely just disagreed with them but never once have I seen any actual attacks on the fanbase at least ones that were not on the wrong side of things, I've seen some RT guys rightfully call out on people who actually deserved it.

Let's not forget that RT isn't even making the show so Skritz comment is not even accurate, the people making the show are the same people who made the Prime Wars shows so if anything it's on them.

Ultra Magnus is disappointing I suppose but the only thing it could of been was Decepticon Ultra Magnus since there is no way that the boxed set was going to be anything not related to the show, it wasn't going to be some drastically different deco and since the diaclone colors are used for Delta Magnus now it's likely that they would of just named the set Delta Magnus and not Ultra.

I'm actually kinda hoping for a yellow Ultra Magnus (Shining Magnus) so I might call him "Plus Ultra Magnus"

Actually RT are producing the show (with animation supplied by Polygon Pictures who did the recent Star Wars Resistance cartoon and TF: Prime, and The 2015 Robots in Disguise series)

So yes, RT have a part to play in this new series and rest assured of it goes wrong, there is plenty of people involved to pass the blame ball to.

Watermelon Rung is kinda hilarious, and I love his new blast effects, but with that being the only part of the package that I like, I certainly don't want to spend $60 on it. I do think we all got our hopes up/were made to get our hopes up by the secrecy and all that, so I should have expected that.

Those blast effects now make me further want Rung repainted into Kaon from the DJD with electric blast effects (since they'll never make a figure that turns into an electric chair, and they have surprisingly similar bot mode designs anyway).

Well I finally got myself a Rung today, so I can close the book on Siege (well almost...). I find it surreal that a character that has a mild fan following in North America due to IDW comics, is only decently affordable from Japan currently.

Yeah I know he's getting a re-release in Earthrise, but with the way things are going, who knows when that will be? I've still never seen Soundbarrrier or Smashdown on the pegs, only by goading Target employees was I able to get Soundbarrier (got Siege Smashdown thankfully the one time I saw him last year).

Because PotP, Siege & ER had pretty much the same releases in both Hasbro & TT markets, there's been little information of them online. This is the only TT Siege item I've picked up. The packaging differences are minimal, but I thought they were cool enough I'll probably keep it.

I find it interesting that Takara's Siege logo is only similar to rather than exactly the same as Hasbro's Siege logo, when one would think that they wouldn't have bothered to change the logo's design in the first place since the name itself is still the same and there doesn't seem to be any valid reason for Takara to change the logo at all.

Not quite the same, but it's all semantics:

Hasbro: Transformers Generations War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege
TakaraTomy: Transformers Siege

All the latter did was inflate the "Transformers" part of the logo to make it stand out more, really... in addition to reusing the US card backs for Battle Masters it looks like. >:oP

I saw two Rungs at Target just this past Friday so they're still getting stock from their warehouses (doubt Hasbro is still shipping them in). I would have taken a picture, but I really didn't want to linger around the store too long and if it weren't for that coupon last week I wouldn't have gone at all. Maybe I'll check again tomorrow while I'm out scavenging for food.

BTW, here's the Netflix cast in their holomatter avatars:

Image

Really feels like fans came up with all of the best ideas and what we got was the worst case scenario. Oh well, I'll keep my pre-order because it isn't any worse than the other figures in the series. I guess it's really our own faults for building up expectations when Hasbro never actually said Magnus himself would be anything special. Rung is almost exactly what I expected, though I was thinking clear purple.

I meant the name in the logo is the same. They're both "Transformers: Siege - War For Cybertron Trilogy"

Compare the following:

Same words, but Takara bizarrely saw fit to change the look of the logo's top half.

So yes, RT have a part to play in this new series and rest assured of it goes wrong, there is plenty of people involved to pass the blame ball to.

Strange, I remember hearing awhile back that their role wasn't that big in the development of the show, but that was months ago so something might of changed.

They have a part to play but their not the main creators nor are they the ones doing the animation (that would be Polygon), they could probably mess something up sure but honestly when's the last time a Transformers show wasn't criticized to hell like Transformers was ever meant to be high art?

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

Thing is, he looks dirty in a "toy left out in the mud" way, not dirty in a "realistically weathered warrior robot" way.

Hasbro should have put someone from their Star Wars team in charge of the weathering for SIEGE, I think that would have given better results. Alternatively, they could have used whoever did Armada Galvatron's deco:

Observation I thought I'd share. Some have said that the transparent wheels on the SIEGE Datsuns make them look more Cybertronian. I disagree. Transparent wheels make them look alien, but to me such wheels suggest not Cybertronian but Velocitronian:

I freely admit that part of that is bias from being a Cybertron fan. But still, all the characters designed as Velocitronians for Cybertron did have transparent wheels. Meanwhile in G1, every carformer who wasn't a hovercar had rubber tires even if they had a Cybertronian altmode:

Including those whose altmodes looked like hover vehicles but weren't (as proven by it being crippled by him getting a wheel shot off):

* Cybertron Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* DotM Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

Di Bonaventura is not a credible or trustworthy source. And most fans do like the diversity push, thanks.

>:oP
I meant the name in the logo is the same. They're both "Transformers: Siege - War For Cybertron Trilogy"

Compare the following:

Same words, but Takara bizarrely saw fit to change the look of the logo's top half.
To me the Takara box looks a little like a KO. Maybe because I'm just used to seeing Hasbro's packaging or maybe Hasbro's just looks aesthetically better to me. :-?
