Please no, those dont even share a similar body type or transformation.
Not to mention car model (Corvette vs. Countach). Note that Tracks with Needlenose was an option in the poll that lead to Mirage and Impactor, so a rough design separate from Sideswipe should already have been made. Maybe next year?
Oh no, I was misunderstood, I meant ... instead of an Optimus Energon ... I would also prefer a Trank as a simple repaint of Sideswipe, then I know that sn is different both as a car mode and as a robot ... right ... but better a repaint that again an Energon Optimus: D I hope I have been clearer now

Hey Will would you stomach a Sideswipe repaint or retool into a Sunstreaker or would you want a whole new mold?

I know you didn't ask me, but for Sunstreaker, he needs his own mold or bust! His silhouette is so unique from Sideswipe's that a completely different transformation scheme would be needed to make him G1 cartoon accurate.

Oh no worries Wolfman I think I was just trying to get a feel for exactly what types of repaints or retools will make Will sour burp in his mouth
Sunstreaker was my very first Transformer ever. I would love to see him get a Seige mold to himself with those front end feet and the silver engine block. Man that takes me back. I'd love a removable hand so you could fit a yellow mold of that gyro blaster in there old school style.
I gotta say all this G1 awesomeness and yet we're missing a huge part of the original crew by not having a Legends class. It's bitter sweet for me because I love having the Micromasters buuuuut...you know what I'm saying.

On the subject of Sunstreaker, a friend of mine had a genius idea- making Sunstreaker, Wheeljack and Tracks retools of each other. They all have very similar transformations (car front becomes feet, car roof becomes chest, back of car becomes backpack, with wings in the case of two of them) and with modern Hasak's capacity for extensive retools I think it'd honestly work well.

I thought Wheeljack was going to be a "mini-van" if he gets made in Siege?

It's far from a guarantee, but this IDW cover (#12) has me more optimistic for Tracks in WFC. If you're going to do a new mold, it helps to be able to use it for multiple characters.

Except that that's Road Rage's Masterpiece design.
The current IDW comics use more than just Siege designs. Bumblebee has his MP-21 robot mode, Windblade has her Titans Return toy's robot mode, Cyclonus uses his CW toy design, etc.

Like I said, it's no guarantee. And there isn't a new figure to use for the design - yet. But of all the characters to put on the cover and bring into the new continuity, why pick Road Rage? Not every comics character is going to get a new toy, but I would think that more likely for one like this, who has had very few toys and has never been an active character.
This is speculation, not a conclusion. But if we were betting on Tracks in WFC, I would put more money on that today than I would have yesterday.

That's Road Rage, Tracks' retool into a fembot.
She's the one on the left.
That's cool that we get some more familiar faces in the comics, but I don't think this is any indication of them appearing in the Siege line

Or, rather, the red Diaclone toy, as e-HOBBY was making new characters out of unused-for-Transformers Diaclone decos back in the early 2000s.

Minus Sunstreaker, that's pretty much what Hasbro and Takara Tomy did with Generations/United Wheeljack and Reveal the Shield/United (Turbo) Tracks.

He is an amazing figure, and the most posable transformer in my collection. He will display excellently with my Siege Megatron

I have no interest in or attachment to Tracks at all, but a retail Generations Road Rage would be awesome. Plus, if they make any more figures based off Guido Guidi's G1 art, there is another option for the Tracks mold:

Yep.
Am 90% sure he's based off the Diaclone Black Tracks from way back when, that I think also had a reissue in 2002

Close. He is indeed based off a Diaclone deco of the mold, one that was specifically exclusive to a store chain in Finland. But, the 2002 Black Tracks reissue, which was a Lucky Draw figure, had a rather different deco with a gold face instead of turquoise, among many other subtle deco differences.
