I'm wondering if I should go full Alf Stewart and pull out a couple of "stone the flamin' crows!". ;)

Just had another question, is there any way to stiffen up the joint on TR Scourge's wrist? Mine's really loose and floppy. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Same gig, man. It works just as well on swivel joints and also hinges as it does on ball joints.

Re: Transformers Workshop (Maintenance & Repair)

Postby Arsnof » Mon Feb 13, 2017 2:10 pm

I don't have a big collection and have done nothing in the way of modifications/repairs, but I now have a question that's kind of bothering me. I just got Titans Return Chromedome and Rewind as a valentine's present (because romance), but one of Rewind's feet has a problem. The plastic at the bottom is partially bent outwards; not like a snagged bend, more like a manufacturing error bend. This causes a significant gap between the pegs and holes for his foot, meaning it keeps falling out. Is there any good solution to this? I could probably dig through all the pages of the thread, but that would take quite a while.

I was thinking maybe using a hair dryer to heat the plastic until pliable, but don't know if that would make it too brittle and also I'm not sure how I'd clamp it until cool.

Any suggestions?

PS - first post here or on any message board in a long time...

I would think heat is the best option. Heat gun, hair dryer, pot of boiling water. You could use any kind of clamp to hold it. Wood clamps, a C clamp, even just two pieces of wood or books.

Good luck, and welcome to Seibertron!

I do a lot of miniature gaming, and those are often bent out of shape. Depending on the type of plastic/resin used, I'd try boiling water first.
Boil some water, pour in a cup, hold the plastic part in it for a couple of minutes, if it bends back on its own, you're good. If it doesn't, that means it's been made this way. Even if you bend it back, then in time it'll bend back out again, because the plastic has some sort of shape-memory. Which is exactly the reason why bent plastic bends back into the right shape when dipped in hot water, if it was manufactures correctly.

If that fails, then try thr hair dryer (although that may not be hot enough). Water is safer.

Got a question for y'all, specifically anybody who owns a G1 Datsun:

I just got a G1 Bluestreak for my brithday, and he's in really great shape and I'm really happy with him. :D It's just that when you transform him into robot mode, his extendo-legs don't fully click in, so when he stands, those slide back into his feet. They either slide a little, then he's fine, or they slide all the way back in. Any solutions? I have yet to unscrew that black panel behind his knees to see if there was anything I could fix. Thanks for any help!

some day ago, I noticed that the rubber threads of my ROTF Bludgeon were breaking. Since it's a toy that I liked really a lot, and also it was a gift from my girlfriend, I wanted to repair him, instead of leaving in the shelf without touching him again with the fear of breaking.
Is there any glue/solution to fix them?

Hi;

I searched the topic but didn't found an answer : Any recommendation to fix an Energon Scorponok broken shoulder pad ?
It's apparently a common break, but I found no tuto to repair this and I don't really see what to try.

That one is a tough one. He suffers from a combination brittle plastic (like GPS) and a tight peg hole. When I fixed mine, I ended up both boring out the offending hole and using epoxy to strengthen and bond the parts that cracked apart. The epoxy is clear, so it isn't too goop-ey and ugly, except from the side, but it served nicely. Also, I transform him very rarely now, preferring to leave him in one mode in my display. I will be happy to replace him with Titan Scorponok when he finally comes out...

Probably. But, if you can find one with the shoulder intact, I recommend disassembling that shoulder and widening the hole just a bit. Part of it is the brittle nature of that plastic (though not as brittle as GPS. It doesn't shatter by sneezing in the next county...) Most of it is stress due to the tight shoulder joint. At least that was my experience and how I remember the discussion, going back a couple of years ago when it happened to me. If I can find him in my moving totes, I'll try to take a close-up of the offending shoulder for ya. :D

So I decided to play with my animated shockwave again

and god, some parts are just so stiff, mainly the shoulder assembly, the extending arms, and the waist section (too lazy to take a pic of my toy,so I lifted this pic from google and just circled the relevant parts).
The arms especially make me feel like I'm gonna break it if I try to pull it out.
Anything I can do, or I'll just have to keep him in one mode?

First time here, wouldn't have bothered, but I want to really enjoy my tr black shadow. the pin in his shoulder joint is so loose, his right arm won't stay up due to it's own weight, any thoughts? Can I just use a hammer and try to drive the pin in deeper? Is it a lost cause?

Are you talking about the front/back movement, right?
Because if it's the in/out movement, a loseness of that movement should easily fixed by tightening the screws.
If you're talking of that big-headed pin in the torso, I'd avoid to hammer it, because if I got it right that's a screw, not a pin. Hammering it would only end in breaking the toy.
I don't know, thought, how to remove those kind of screws, I'm sorry.

Yeah, it's the big one that allows his arm to rotate forward to point his gun, the one with the pin/screw with the large flat head

Because it's soft plastic, I have no clue on how to fix it. If anyone can help or at least point to a way of getting another without buying another Starscream, please let me know.

So, I stupidly decided to fiddle with my Classics Onslaught's innards and in doing so, accidentally busted the little gun on his arm when I opened it up. I managed to get the spring and everything back into place, but the gun will no longer remain deployed on its own. I can't seem to find any other pictures online of the gun arm's insides, so I don't know if the spring becoming a bit warped is causing it or what. I seem to almost fix it sometimes, with the gun not deploying automatically but at least staying put, but then screwing the arm back onto the main body ruins it again. I'm at a loss because I'm not even sure how the gun stayed deployed originally in the first place, so I don't know if I'm now missing a piece or what. Any help that could be provided would be much obliged. I added a picture of the part of the arm I am talking about.

TLK Leader Class Megatron's Faceplate Help

Postby Tyrannacon » Tue Dec 12, 2017 11:24 am

Motto: "All Hail Megatron!"
Weapon: Fusion Cannon
I got the TLK Leader Class Megatron recently and I have a bit of an issue with getting the face mask to stay in the open position. Basically the lever itself won't stay fully down and pops up to either the closed position or has the mask down with half of his nose and mouth sticking out. Does anybody have any idea on a fix for this? I'd hate to send it back if it's something that can easily be corrected.

Thanks for any help

So I was inspecting my TLK Leader Megatron today in an effort to search for answers and I noticed this.

Seems like something broke off maybe or am I just reaching here? I don't know, can anyone please compare with a pic of their own where the mask gimmick works so I can see for sure here? I am wondering if maybe I should find a way to return this and/or get a new one and hope against hope the gimmick works. It's not that big of a deal, just can be annoying if I want the mask to remain open for scenes or whatever.
