For those board members that still have an old Atari 2600 (or almost any 1st gen console) laying around and want to hook it up to a modern TV and have an absolutely flawless picture and Stereo sound, you may want to try this. I did, and now I play my 25+ year old Atari 2600 on my 55 inch LCD TV with stereo sound through a super-high quality S-Video connection.
8bitdomain.com sells an upgrade kit for the
Atari 2600, 5200, 7800 Intellivision, & CollecoVision. The installation is PAINLESS, no soldering. Took me about 30 minutes to install, its just a matter of popping out one chip(graphics & sound chip) and popping in a new one and drilling holes for the new connectors on the console.
Its pretty cheap and painless, hell I was impressed. The colors just burst off the screen now, flawlessly.
We played this thing all day during the slow parts of the football game today. No one could believe how excellent the picture was.
Just thought I'd let all the old-school gamers know about this.
