You're quite right. Hasbro REALLY cut costs on the FoC deluxes. Not only are they abhorrently thin and hollow, the plastic quality is noticeably lower than average.

The Beast Hunter Deluxes are already back to being more sturdy. Well, as sturdy as the PRiD line was, but less sturdy than past lines have been. Only the FoC deluxes were stupidly cheaply made.

Good point, I had forgotten about the Lazerback figure on my shelf. I suppose we'll find out in a few months won't we?

Call Hasbro, they're good about getting you a refund at least.

Let me sum up the FOC figures ... smaller, cheaper plastic and more expensive. I haven't bought a single one yet, except YOTS Omega Supreme, which I'm still waiting on. I just can't justify it. I loved both FOC and WOC games and some of the character molds, but the toys aren't up to snuff. Shockwave looked cool, but he was way too small in scale. He was more like a big scout figure than a deluxe. I saw Trailcutter at Toy Fair. He's super cool too, but he's about the size of Classics Bumblebee. WTF?

I'm not a huge fan the of Beast Hunters line either, although Smokescreen and Shockwave look like buys. I'm going to pick up Blitzwing and Springer when they come out, but other than that I'll use this time to pick up some of the older Generations and Universe figures I missed out on.

I think FOC Kickback is an exception. It's a weighty figure and feels much more solid and substantial than the other FOC Deluxes. It almost seems like it came from a different line.

I have heard of this problem. My cousin got FOC grimlock and in the process of trying to get him out of the box one of the dino arm ball joints snapped off. it was unfix-able. he returned it and got another, same thing happned to that one. so he just got FOC swindle instead. so i dont think im getting grimlock.

If you're not happy with how TFs are made nowadays, find something else to collect, like third-party transforming toys. But I'm sick of hearing people (especially adults) whine and moan about how a toy company isn't catering to their standards.

I know that this is a very old debate at this point, but I hardly think that wanting what you feel you're paying for is demanding a company to cater to your standards. I personally find this kind of commentary far less useful to the fandom than people whining and moaning about the quality of toys. If I pay $17 for a deluxe, I'd like to feel like I got some value out of it.
Yeah, I chose to buy the $17 dollar toy, and I've a right to my opinion. No one has to like my opinion, but the existance of people who don't like my opinion in no way invalidates my opinion.

I got FoC Sideswipe like two weeks ago after passing on Jazz and I must say, I am appalled by his legs. They're like half legs, like the rear leg parts fell off in the package or something like that. When I looked down the front of him I was equally upset to see the he's just empty space with a robot slightly folded around it.

Although, I'm sure I'm just being too critical, and I have no right to complain about something I paid for.

It's not a matter of disliking your opinion moreso than it is us wanting the redundancy to stop. I see too many topics created specifically for complaining about this. Hasbro is a public corporation. Their number one priority is making a profit for their shareholders. As long as they're profitable, they have no reason to cater to a small minority of their customer base. Hasbro is NOT a public charity set up to provide you with a lifetime supply of high-quality collectible figures at low prices.

THIS
im sick of it as well. if my toy breaks im not going to whine and complain about hasbro, it was my stupid fault for being a gorilla with my toys and not being careful. "HASBLOW HAS WRONGED ME, THEY SUCK, THIRD PARTY IS BETTER IN EVERY WAY" no. example. my fans project bruticus has broken 3 times. i fixed it but it still broke. the plastic is very very brittle. Also if its a matter of defects EVERY toy company has defects. NO ONE HAS ZERO DEFECTIVE TOYS. if someone gets one defective toy after another then oh well, **** happens get over it. if you complain about every little defect then you are no better than a brony who complains that his twilight sprinkles or whatever is the wrong color or is missing a hair on its mane. and it happens to MPs as well. my MP 10 is defective. his trailer was mis-assembled which i fixed. i am SICK OF IT. if you hate hasbro so much then stop buying from them.

Yeah, you're right. I suppose I owe everyone an apology for being completely and totally unreasonable for thinking that way. What I obviously should be doing is just buying the stuff that Hasbro puts out, even if I don't like it or if I find some part of it objectionable, because to not buy it would be expecting them to live up to my totally astronomical standards.
I find myself missing the days when this kind of argument was basically limited to people who would cry that every toy released was not G1ish enough and that that was Hasbro not catering to personal standards. Nowadays not automatically loving things equates to having crazily unmeetable expectations.
I'm not asking for Masterpiece Prime to only cost me $12, I am simply not satisfied with paying $18 for FoC Sideswipe, who, yes, solely in my estimate, doesn't seem worth the price I paid.

Yeah, I chose to buy the $17 dollar toy, and I've a right to my opinion. No one has to like my opinion, but the existance of people who don't like my opinion in no way invalidates my opinion.

So, it's not an issue of there being dislike over the opinion, it's just an issue of people disliking that same opinion? Got it. I suppose it follows that if people are making topics to air grievances about this then it must be a fairly legit concern. Certainly there are people who are never happy with anything, but I highly doubt every person who complains about this matter merely does so because of some sour grapes or these outrageous standards such as wanting to feel like you've gotten value out of your money.
I'm fine with it if the site finds it best to make a sticky or limit this type of discussion to one thread like the toy haul thread, that's fine. But I don't think it's in any way healthy to the fandom to outlaw or restrict unhappy ideas just because they make people unhappy. It does us no good to restrict the discussion of negative opinions because it hurts someones' feelings or people find it redundant.

Look, I love a lot more about Transformers in general, be that toys, or fiction or movies or comics or whatever, than I've ever found reason to dislike, dating all the way back to 1985. My general outlook, although it is again an example of my super high standards, is that if I don't like something, I won't spend my money on it. I didn't like the DOTM toys, so I bought the few that I wanted out of character loyalty and then bought no more. I don't know if you can still do this on here, but you used to be able to see the past posts of members, and if you can do that and have any inclination to do so, I'd challenge you to read through all the posts I've ever made on this board and count up how many are needless or overly demanding complaints on my part. Sure I've made some, but as a rule I try to stay positive about the things I enjoy.
But I take serious offense to the concept that dissenting opinions should be curbed because you (As a general pronoun, not a specific referent) don't like it or it hurts your (same as before) feelings get hurt. If the "Stop liking what I don't like" approach gets carried to its ultimate end, then you (specifically this time) should stop giving your opinion on things because other people are tired of its redundancy, and if it should apply to me it should apply to you. This is, by name and design, a DISCUSSION board, not a one way street or echo chamber.

What Hasbro owes me and every other customer out there is a complete, functioning toy that is not broken. What they ask for in in retun moneywise is up to them, but when I pay that amount, I have a right to those aforementioned things.

If I don't like what I buy and those criteria are met, it's my problem entirely.

Settle down and read over what you're quoting, because this is irrelevant to that. I pointed out that you contradicted yourself by describing two of the same thing as opposites. I never once said that wanting a decent toy was an "astronomical standard."

No, you obviously don't "got it." We're tired of being fed the same can of peas every night for dinner. In other words, we're tired of seeing all these threads made specifically for the same thing (and that's just the few I could find within a minute or two). Some forum boards would send a mod to remove the thread and tell the OP to post their concerns in one of the first couple of threads discussing the topic to help keep the forums tidy. If there's already a group of people discussing Basketballs and Baseballs, you don't need to start another group of people discussing Basketballs and Baseballs. Your new group can join those already discussing it and discussions aren't all over the place.

Now, I'm not saying that Seibertron.com should start cracking down on every one that creates a duplicate topic. But when there's multiple users creating multiple threads about it, perhaps it's time we create an official thread for it.

Psst. Stop fighting. You might not like someone else's opinion but in no right does that mean that they should stop having that opinion and not be allowed to voice it.

Anyways, I think to say that the newest era of toys is disappointing is a bit too extreme. While there may effectively be diminishing size and quality, by bringing attention to that, it sort of diminishes the fact that there are still some rather rock solid molds. For the amount of plastic that they are given to work with, we've got some well-engineered toys, like FoC Jazz, Lazerback, and by all means, not all WFC toys were bad, i'd still say all of the molds, sans Deluxe Soundwave, are really good.

Our Transformers toys still transform, and they aren't 'that' bad. Plus, every line has their bad figures. As much as I do yearn for the blockier and sturdier plastic, we are going in a good direction.

You guys seem to be missing my point. I can only speak for myself, but I never said that I disagreed with their opinion or wanted them to stop voicing their opinion. My point was I was tired of seeing multiple threads being created to complain about it over and over again.

Plus, every line has their bad figures.

Yeah, but certain lines nowadays, such as Beast Hunters, have a bigger majority of badly received figures compared to toylines of the past. Bumblebee, Soundwave, Starscream, Ratchet, Dreadwing, and to extents, Ultra Magnus, Wheeljack, and Skystalker/Storm Razor. Whereas the majority can agree that Lazerback, Ripclaw, Optimus, Predaking, and Shockwave are cool dudes.

Of course, how badly they're received doesn't necessarily have to depend on the plastic quality. And previous lines have had a wider selection of figures in the mainline anyway. >:oP

I assure you that I do get it. This happens literally every time some new thing comes along in the franchise. Do people make perhaps too many threads to voice their dislike? Yeah, maybe, but people then also make too many threads to discuss their approval of something.
I honestly don't care what someone else likes or not. If you think Item A is the best thing of all time, awesome man, and I personally am happy for you that you've found something you like. If Item A makes you terribly depressed, then I'm sorry that you've found something that makes you so unhappy.
But you know what, no matter which side of this we may be on, here's the truth:

You might not like someone else's opinion but in no right does that mean that they should stop having that opinion and not be allowed to voice it.

I'm totally fine with there being threads where people voice their opinions one way or the other. Honestly, and I mean this with all the respect in the world, but if threads that advertise themselves as being negative threads bother you so much, maybe you should ignore them and let the people in them voice their opinions. After all, when people object to things TF around here, they are often confronted with the concept that if they don't like something they are not being forced to buy it or watch it or whatever. I've never been sure why that doesn't cut both ways.
I also wouldn't exactly say we're fighting as Blurrz put it, but whatever. The only thing I'm trying to say is that you can have your opinion, and I can have mine, and people who don't like something can have theirs too, because neither of us can really tell them they can't have their opinion, regardless of how tired "we" are of the "same can of peas". Some people honestly like peas.

In only collect G1/Masterpiece Transformer toys all others suck especially the new ones, basically you are paying for packaging/paper. The toys inside are as small as possible and always incredibly difficult to get out with a scalpel to cut round the bubble.

For me Hasbro has become to obsessed with making profit and not enough on producing high quality toys. The newer toys have horribly ball socket joints that don't work all to well and the bits pop off and are lost perhaps forever.
