The amount of rage about something as small as the color of windows is funny to me. Chill out peoples, it's nothing a blue Sharpie can't fix.

We're missing something important here though. It's a solid and beefy mold without an overly ridiculous and impractical weapon gimmick!

But we already knew they were dropping the Powerizer gimmick. :???:

I'm liking this more and more, but I wish the wings were detachable. Not a fan of the head, either. I'm actually thinking of modding him a little. Panel up the windscreens for a more FOC-ish look, and replacing the head with one from, say, and MG Gundam Exia kit if possible.

I really wish people would stop using the 'it's a child's toy' excuse. Plenty of TF figs over the years have been simple and child friendly and they are not this poor excuse for a design.

And stop childishly pointing the finger at MP collectors as well. Sure, I have some MPs, why the hell shouldn't I? But in the last 2 months I've bought Prid Arcee, Knockout, and Rumble, and plan on getting Voyager Bulkhead and they are all nice looking, cleverly engineered figures that sit comfortably waiting for kids to play with. I love the lot of them (Let down a bit by plastic quality, but that's a different issue and just a sign of the times)A good chunk of the Unicron trilogy are fantastic toys, still some of my favourites, and maybe I'm being to Gee wunner or 'adult collector' with this one-but Battle Convoy (laser OP)? What, it doesn't get any simpler and child's toy than that without being a G1 brick or a Go-Bot, and there is nothing wrong with him, again a fave of mine, So please try and be objective to an opinion that is against this ONE figure.

I don't like this thing. neither do some others, I've given it a go with looking at the reviews, but it isn't happening-it looks ridiculous for so many reasons and whether the rest of you like it or not it's a concern for us that our hobby may be turning sour if this becomes the acceptable standard. And don't jump on me for sounding childish as an adult collector of toys- because unless the rest of you are between the ages of 5-10, we're in the same boat just by being here and discussing a toy we just saw on Youtube.

Hah, I love the alt mode. I love how it's something of a nod to animated Optimus. I love that it's a simple big weapon. Not a fan of the simplistic transformation (or the big backpack), but like how sturdy he looks, too. This is the first Beast Hunters figure I like.

The thing is, those of us that like it, don't think it's a poor design. Airachnid was a poor design and a terrible toy. This, to me, is not.

And stop childishly pointing the finger at MP collectors as well. Sure, I have some MPs, why the hell shouldn't I?

The reason Masterpieces are brought up so often when these debates happen is because Masterpieces are the only Transformers that are targeted squarely at adult collectors. Lots of people complain that a toy is too simple, too kiddy, on the basis they're an adult and they deserve something better. But mainline stuff is made for kids, with adult fans as a periphery demographic. Generations is made for a mix of kids and nostalgic adults. So judging the mainline stuff by adult standards is a bit unfair.

I don't like this thing.

That's fine.
neither do some others, I've given it a go with looking at the reviews, but it isn't happening-it looks ridiculous for so many reasons and whether the rest of you like it or not it's a concern for us that our hobby may be turning sour if this becomes the acceptable standard.

If we like it, and kids like it, there's no problem. There's always a few people, like you, who don't like a particular direction that the brand takes. That's fine. Nobody's required to like everything, or anything (although if you're in this fandom it's assumed you like something). If, after this, you continue not to like the direction that Transformers goes in, then I'm sorry. Transformers continues to be a brand meant to be enjoyed by children at its core, and to that end Hasbro has to keep trying to stay current by doing new things with the toys. While a lot of things kids like will remain constant in broad strokes (kids will always love dinosaurs, robots, aliens, cars, and things like that), some of the more particular fads come and go like the wind. That's why they always change the gimmicks, and sometimes you wind up with stuff that doesn't work (mechtech, powerizers). The point is, as an adult fan of a childrens' franchise, you can't really expect it to be tailored to your interests, so if you find yourself not liking it, unless the raw quality of the toys drops to obscene levels (hasn't happened yet), there's nothing much for you. You just have to make your peace and accept that it's no longer a brand for you.

This, its what i was trying to say but he isnt hostile like i was. lets face it, everyone has complained about the size of figures, cheap plastic, the prices going up... all im saying is if we support this by buying all the "junk" figures it sends a message to hasbvro that we like the direction of lower quality higher priced toys. thats how companies work, by what epople buy.i am personally only collecting masterpiece at this point, and even their qualtiy is starting to slip... but takara is taking notes and trying to rectify this.

You don't have buy a figure you don't like. You don't have to like every figure Hasbro puts out. However, it's concerning when we tell Hasbro, no, Hasblow, to screw off and suck eggs because they made a toy designed for kids. They're doing what their profession of business is supposed to do; make toys. Not cater to the needs of whining adult fans.

That said, telling us to not buy something just because you don't like it and want better quality figures isn't right either. That's just plain forcing your opinion on others. I don't care how businesses work; I'm going to buy a figure I like. You're not going to stop me.

i am not forcing my opinion on anyone, i stated my opinion - then i focused on how hasbro will only change if their current business model isnt making sales... then they would see what factors are causing this (in this case the lack of quality, id pay more for a proper figure) and make changes to get their customers back. it really is simple economics.

and again i do not force my opinion on anyone... i am a little brash at times, but i try to have a good message that may benefit the community.

You know... I like this guy, maybe enough to buy a few to repaint, assuming hasbro does not jump in and do it before me. I was really against this line at first, it just seemed so stupid, but I am finding myself liking it more and more as we get a good look at each figure. Though it may just be because I am into the quirky deco's and designs that lines like g2 brought with them.

Also I would just like to point out, Hasbro has a panel of specialists hired to track and predict toy trends with children. This very panel has kept this brand alive much, much, much longer than anyone could had ever dreamed. They obviously felt this was the next biggest step in satisfying their consumer base...which are children. So unless we want transformers to end up like Thundercats then we should let the professionals do their job. >:oP

Besides, we should be happy that Hasbro is keeping classics alive through generations, platinum, and etc. After all, I believe Hasbro said that collectors only make up ~10% of their profit base, so having even a sub-line aimed at us is rather generous on their part.

I like this figure. Quite a bit. ;) The transformation is a bit of a cheat and the legs don't really transform at all, but yeah, it's cool. I initially didn't like the truck mode, and it's still not great, but it's grown on me since I've started looking at it like an APC. Robot mode is pure WIN! Green windows are weak but by no means a deal breaker.

I have to add my voice to those who feel this is the start of a resurgence for the voyager class of Transformers.
