I could have asked a better question than making that statement.

So Nathimus Prime. If people who watch subtitles have no lives, what does that make me, seeing I've actually subtitled stuff?

Honestly, I could press an attack here, but seeing I have no idea if that statement was based on some fact you may believe or simply trolling, I won't. there is a large market of fans that prefer for whatever reasons to watch things in their original language with subtitles, so much so that anime companies flocked to DVDs as soon as they could so they wouldn't have to product duel VHS releases anymore.

If you are a fan it's a good thing you are watching now and not 15 years back, when Subtitles were the norm, and dubs were quite limited.

I'd be a little irked honestly if that got added. There was a Mecha forum added a few years ago that lasted a whole two seconds and when anyone suggested other forums that might be popular(music or sports), they all got shot down because "you can just make a thread about it to discuss it".

If that's the case for something as vague as sports and music, then anime is just as vague.

I don't hate anime and am definitely not attacking it in the slightest.

Anyways, now for the reason I actually came to this thread. Anyone have any suggestions of something to watch? I've been thinking of tracking down both Guyver series and maybe Bubblegum Crisis(I'm not sure if there is more then one version of it, but I already have three episodes of it on dvd).

Ah Bubblegum Crisis, a personal favorite.

There are two versions. The original is an OVA series, and has two other series that go with it, AD Police Files that acts as an indirect prequel, and Bubblegum Crash, the sequel that is good, but doesn't match how good the original is.

Then a few years back they started work on what was to be a sequel but was revamped into the re-imagined as BubbleGum Crisis Tokyo 2040. Personally I enjoyed it when it started but lost interest about half way thru. I felt the story falling apart and didn't care for the Hardsuit redesigns. However I did watch the entire series and I found the end to be complete crap. Almost to the point I would rather watch Burst Angel, mentally rename the girls, and consider that a superior remake.

After 2040, two more stories under the BGC banner have been released, ADPolice - Protect and Serve, and Parasite Dolls. Neither of which I can comment on as ADP-P&S didn't interest me, and I fell aslep when I tried to watch PD.

As for which version you have, check the hair colors. If Sylia has black and Nene pink, it's original series. Sylia white, and Nene blond, it's 2040.

Yes yes yes! Always always ALWAYS watch BGC 2032 first if you have the choice between 2032 and 2040.

For Largo, for Quincy, for "Konya wa Hurricane", for "Say Yes", and for great justice.

I'm now playing Tatsunoko VS Capcom and beating the living shoyt out of Capcom characters with Tekkaman Blade and Doronjo. Life... is now that much more complete.

Would You Settle For A Non Transformers Cartoon Forumn instead of an exclusively anime one? I'd be down for that

Blurrz, you are in Victoria and came from Edmonton, quick questions.

a) when in Edmonton did you ever go to Animathon?
b) are you going to Tsukino-con next week-end?

b) What's that? Can I buy Gundams there?

A) Yes, they have used MacEwan for the last few years, but it's held end of July early August usually.
B) Small Convention at UVic, maybe depends if they have any dealers selling them. And sorry I said next week-end, it's the week-end after that one.

Hell if you are just looking for Gundam kits, take the ferry over to the mainland, there are a ton of store selling Gundams in Vancouver.

Yeah.. I usually buy my Gundams at Richmond, but I ain't crossing the mainland this month... traffic is hell there, and with Olympic fever it's like hell freezing over.

Looks like I'll have something to look forward to at UVic instead of those damn midterms!

Tell me about it, I'm right in the middle of all of it, and seeing the GF has work at both BC Place for one job and across from the Media Centre for her other... Nasty doesn't even start to describe the problems.

But hey the next episode of Baka to Test is up. Yippee.

It is mainly about a creature that looks like a little girl that has multiple personalities and one of the personalities is psychotic and kills people in a very gory telekinetic manner.

It is a good psychological anime. As far as the sets, I couldn't see a difference (probably just in what extras are included).

"Damn..." I said to myself, "How many pages back did I post those?"

And so I've just finished reading the thread from page 1, it was great! God, I sound like a hyperactive little child sometimes. -.- (Read as: Most of the time.) But that was so fun, I miss reading everyone's comments and mini reviews.

As soon as some new series start airing, I'm going to try and be more active again!

It's DBZ but with the filler removed. To put things in perspective, DBK is currently at episode 44, Goku's fighting Frieza, Frieza jumps to 50% power, and all of that. And that same plot wasn't until episode 90 in DBZ. That's 46 episodes worth of filler already cut out.

By filler u mean Goku wont be fighting Freeze for 25 episodes and they will discard the epsiodes that are all filler and have little to due with the story.

Pretty much. The whole reason it took them so long to finish it is because, as with a lot of anime (Naruto and Bleach come to mind) it was running alongside the manga. Since they couldn't very well adapt a story that hadn't been written yet, they stretched it out until they had enough story to move on. This is why fights and power-ups lasted far longer than they should have. Alternatively, assuming a big fight wasn't occurring when the need for filler struck, they'd implant a filler story arc.

But since they aren't running alongside the manga, they don't need to do that. They can shorten down everything to the length it was intended to be. For example, they removed 46 episodes worth of filler.

On the other hand, they've said the series would be only 100 episodes; they're almost halfway there and Frieza isn't dead yet. So it seems they may either go into overtime, or cut it very close with the Buu Saga. (If not removing the Buu Saga entirely, though I don't know why they'd do that)

I figure the Garlic Jr. Saga will be removed completely (as that is the filler arc that I assume you were implying). There are other episodes even from Cell Saga and Buu Saga that can be removed as well (like the episode where almost the entire time was Dr. Gero hiding from the Z Warriors).
