Mjolnir. >:oP

I wasn't blown away by this trailer, but of course I'll see the movie when it comes out. I hope they clear up what happened to Odin.

Maybe he's busy dealing with a robot insurgency in midgard?

I hear that! That trailer got me super pumped for this flick! Cate Blanchett as Hela looks freakin' incredible, especially with that headdress!

No man, Loki "disappeared" Odin at the end of Thor: TDW. His status is UNKNOWN...

Can't tell if you got the joke or not...

Don't worry, I knew he disappeared, and I read for this movie that he was in hiding

Um, this thread is for discussing films and TV with the Marvel license et al. NOT making unrelated jokes about unrelated movies in unrelated threads. You're lucky I don't report you to BURN. Tsk tsk, D-Max. Tsk...tsk..

The a-holes are back!

Just like the first Guardians of Galaxy, Volume 2 was incredibly fun!

The Movie!
This movie sees the introduction of Ego as the main protagonist. In a shift from the comics, Ego is in fact Quills father, and also ... humanoid? As it turns out, Kurt Russells Ego is more of an avatar. Ego is still very much a living planet.

There's character building, but also a lot of relationship building.

Yondu is segregated from the greater Ravagers community for his part in child trafficking (a big no no in the Ravagers). This leads to a crew mutiny and Yondu ending up helping the Guardians. His relationship with Quill is given more light with the real reason for Yondu not delivering Peter revealed.

The simmering relationship between Gamora and Quill grows, but Gamoras big relationship building comes between her and Nebula.

Quill, not content with relationship building between his father, Yondu and Gamora, also has to work on his relationship with Rocket.

In fact, the only ones not really involved in relationship building is Drax (who is a complete and utter jerk towards Mantis) and Baby Groot (who just gets annoying).

Stan Lee!
Holy **** ... not one, but TWO Stan Lee appearances. The first is during the movie and is a very brief scene where we see him sitting on an asteroid in a space suit, telling THE WATCHER about his time as a delivery man!

His second appearance is a during-the-credits scene, back on the asteroid only there's now three Watchers who are walking off, obviously bored with his stories.

The major thing here is this appearance refers to a previous appearance implying that all those Stan Lee appearances are in fact, the same character!

Credits Scenes
It was announced last week that there were in fact multiple credits scenes.
- Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone) is seen with other Ravager Captains who agree to all come together to steal stuff.
- Stan Lee and Watchers
- Quill walking in on ... TEENAGE GROOT! Yep, Groot is no longer a baby and is now a teenager, complete with cracked voice and messy bedroom.
- Golden High Priestess of The Sovereign - After having their entire fleet wiped out by the Guardians, the High Priestess reveals her plan for revenge, the next stage in the evolution of The Sovereign, a cocoon ... and the man inside will be known as ... "Adam" (Warlock)

All in all, great story, well written, great characters. Nothing really setting up other MCU movies (I thought there may have been a credits scene to set up Ragnarok) nor anything else to connect with the rest of the MCU other than mentioning Thanos. So it is its own separate movie which will of course no doubt fit in when future movies are released.

Apparently there's a popular theory going around that he's actually Uatu.

That's plausible, and when you factor in these scenes it gives even more credence.

It looks like they're going to go somewhere with it though.

GOTG 2 was pretty good, I personally preferred Vol.1 but this was (IMO) a good sequel.
It has a lot of great moments. At any rate it's (again IMO) a better sequel than AOE. I shall now post random thoughts (About the film obviously) for no reason other than I can by law of the thread. 8-)

The Intro with Groot dancing to "Mr Blue Sky" by the Electric Light Orchestra while the others are in the middle of a battle is genius. This introduction surpasses that of the first in every way. (I salute Marvel for managing that)
Ayesha and the sovereign were not really villains, they were just angry because Rocket stole from them. Ego was the real villain, I like that
I feel like Drax could have been used better, all he really did was provide comic relief
Yondu was great. He has a good death and the scenes with him and Rocket are golden
Kraglin did stuff!!! Yay! But Kraglin was good in this film, he is a character now (You get what I mean. He has a personality now)

I actually liked GOTG2. It was probably Disney-Marvel's best movie yet. It felt like an actual space opera. Which is surprising, because the first GOTG was complete trash after the first 10 minutes or so.
