It's not my responsibility to keep pedestrians out of the road, but that doesn't mean I should be tearing though a school zone at 70 miles per hour. It's just as easy to get my foot off the gas so other people don't have to suffer.

Okay. If reading a movie spoiler is as horrible to you as the vehicular manslaughter of children, you have some problems. I'm going to buy you a beer, a burger, and a prostitute. You need them.
I think you missed the point of his analogy. Completely.

Yeah, I meant more along the lines of how, when it takes no effort to be considerate of other people, then that's what you should be doing. It takes a seriously damaged human being to somehow get "Spoilers = child murder" out of that.

Well, you did use the analogy. It's overdramatic and that distracts from what you're saying. Aside from that I do agree with what you're saying. I don't go into threads if I don't want spoilers at all. That's my seatbelt, so to speak.

And what about threads where it isn't obvious something is going to be spoiled? Should it be "Well, that's your fault, shouldn't have clicked the link because some people find it inconvenient to take the 1.5 seconds required to apply spoiler tags"? Or should people take that 1.5 seconds to not be inconsiderate douchebags?

When it's obvious, it's obvious. If something is named 'Age of Ultron discussion yaddayaddayadda', I just don't go there. End of story... sometimes I do read a spoiler and that sucks. I remember it happening with the last two Tf-movies. I think it's considerate of people to use spoiler tags, it even ads to the mystery of what's going on. But of people don't use it, ignore it, whatever... I don't like it, but it happens. I'd frown upon it, at worst. But I don't see it as a crime.

I disagree. I think that if anything, it underscored his point, making it even clearer. Like me using the spoiler tags for my previous post, which were edited by an overzealous mod or admin, just like I'm using them for this post. Let's see how long it takes before I'm unnecessarily censored yet again.

Here is a fine example of a mysterious post.

No, I got it, just dismissed it along with his terrible analogy.

I really do have nothing worthwhile to add, I'm just quoting myself because I like the attention.

DANG YOU, FORUM MODERATORS!!!!!! I totally didn't say that!
