Nightwatcher wrote:The only new character that isn't really explained in the movie is Karai. I'll answer what isn't said in the movie for you. She is Oroku Saki's (The Shredder) daughter and she now leads the Foot.

Now that you're up to speed everything else will either be explained to you during the movie or you'll already know.

Okay. Thanks; I'll stay away from this thread now, until I see it, which won't be for awhile since I have to work overtime just about everyday this incoming week.

Pick up the 2003 sets. You'll be happier.

Thanks for the tip

Hmm. Before you go full bore into buying the series maybe I should send you a couple of the first episodes to see if you even like them or not. Remind me tomorrow. I'm heading to bed.

Just curious. Did anyone else notice the Rat Kings bandage wraps(his mask) on the shelf next to shredders mask? Atleast I believe that it was the Rat Kings stuff.

Edit: Actually, Karai is only the Shredders adopted daughter in the new TMNT cartoon. In the comics, they never really say who Karai is, if she is related to the Shredder or not.

That was a fantastic film, my little lad loved it and i did too-the trophy rack at the end was cool, obviously put there for the original fans of the series-

looking forward to the next one

did anyone catch the song at the end, the guy starts rapping about Bebob and Rocksteady-sweetness

Is the Vanilla Ice tape on Splinter's rack too? (Ninja rap)

The 80's and early 90's were so cool!

I did read the Raph prequel (he's my fav). It was a good read and I am sure explains the motorcycle and armor that I assume he dons in the movie...

I didn't read Mikey though.

I saw it on the weekend.I was expecting to be not good, but it was. I thought the line was handled with care and I liked the fight between Rap and Leo. The CGI was quite good too. Also the celebraties VO in it was NOT a distraction for a change, they fell in seemlessly.

:BOT: It did seem to easy to collect all the monsters... but the movie was so much fun to watch!

I also have to add it was a good weekend for movies. Other than Ninja Turtles, I saw Shooter. I was going to see Reign Over Me but didn't get the chance to. :CON:

Saw it yesterday and loved it. So did my girlfriend, who I don't believe was expecting very much. In the meantime, I can't wait for TMNT to be released on DVD. (And here's hoping for a sequel....)

I've seen it, I thought it was amazing. Even my girlfriend really enjoyed it. Better than the 1989 movie? I'm undecided, but it's a definite contender. Absolutely brilliant. Can't wait for the sequel.

Possible spoilers:

Did this really disregard TMNT 3? I'm not so sure. I couldn't find anything to suggest they'd retconned 3 out of the story.

Also, wasn't the canister in Splinter's trophy room a TCRI one (as opposed to TGRI)? That would make it tie in with the original comics, and not TMNT 2.

In the comics there are numerous shredder, since the foot clan is an organization that spans the world, and Karai is the Japanese led foot clan shredder who takes over the new york branch once Shredder is defeated. Also in the comics the foot tend to resort to alot of infighting as Shredders former Generals begin fighting Karai once she takes over and she loses her daughter to them, she then asks the turtles to get rid of the generals and Karai promised that the foot would never bother the turtles again. But then again the comics are alot more graphic and disturbing, Shredder is cloned a couple of times using worms and alot of the turtles are disfigured.

In the Image Version Leo gets his hand cut off and Donnie replaces it with a prostetic one. Raphael gets caught in an explosion and part of his face is distorted so he either wears Kacey's mask or an eyepatch and Donatello replaced alot of his body with cybernetics and is now a cyborg. And Michealangelo has kids with a Reptilian Alien named Seri.

In the Mirage Version Splinter died of a Heart Attack, Rapahel got bitten by a vampire causing a secondary mutation into an almost dinosaur like creature, and Donatello was shrunken to the size of an action figure by Utroms while visiting south america but at the moment cant change back and now Don rides around in a robot modled after himself

not to mention the gratuitous violence such as Shredder getting decapitated and so on (in Mirage and Image shredder is human not Utrom apparently only the TV series makes him utrom) There are also alot more mutants and monsters in the series as well.

And while i have not scene themovie i read reviews giving it a 3 out of five which isn't bad but one of the main things i heard is that Don and Mikey aren't shown that much in relation to Raphael and Leo.

Well I was very hyped up too seeing the movie via my own love of the turtles and because I constantly heard about it from someone on here :P .

I was a bit disappointed honestly.

The cgi was amazing, 5 out of 5 stars.

The characters/voice actors, 5 out of 5 stars.

The Raph vrs Leo fight scene was easily the best part of the movie besides Splinter kicking ass all over the place in the last sequence.

I liked Casey Jones as a character he was well done.

The worst part of the movie was easily the ending. It was way too easy to guess and lazy imho, and Sarah Michelle "annoying no talent" Gellar was awful as April imho.

Is the movie worth seeing, no doubt. Was it the best movie, no, the first tmnt movie was and is still the best.

Would I recommend this movie too see in theater or wait for dvd. It really depends.

I give this movie a 3 out of 5 imho. But that's just my opinion.

Here's hoping the sequel will be better.

Actually. There is only one Shredder. Saki created the shredder armor after building the New York branch of the Foot into the powerful criminal organization it is. There are other leaders within the Foot, but they don't have Shredder armor.

Karai wore the Shredder armor in order to lure out the Shredders Elite Guard and kill them with the help of the Turtles.

Also, the Image TMNT comics don't exist and shall never be spoken of again.

Oh you'll definitely love it. That fight seriously made the movie.

I'd have to agree with that, though I loved the parts where Raph got full development. He began to show that he was every bit as capable a leader as Leonardo.

Eh, I'd prefer to follow Ralph. I like the "kick everyone's ass into submission", then try diplomacy style he has.
