i have to agree with those who've voiced their reservations about such a movie. ninja turtles is one thing, but i really don't see ghostbusters transfering over well into full cgi. i love the franchise and would love to see a third film, but if murray won't do it live action then i'd say it's better to just not do it than to do it wrong.

Personally, I think the franchise would do better as a new live action series on SciFi - if it had better "ghosts" like the cartoon, but was more subdued like the original movie. Something with a "Firefly" type budget and cast.

now that's a thought. it'd take a bit of time to get used to a new cast, but if it was well-cast and well-written, i'm sure that once i got past the new faces it could quickly become one of my favorite series. hell, it worked with stargate.

Maybe they just set in the present, 20+ years after the original, and the franchise has since grown into branches. Maybe the show follows one of the branches in general, and maybe they have run-ins with a rival branch from time to time.

maybe maybe maybe!

Perhaps it's like Justice League Unlimited, where the original members are in change of a bunch of new guys. :-?

Maybe :D

Your JLU analogy was basically the concept behind GB:Extreme (and was originally the idea behind the third movie.)

I think the TV format would work well in this case, because it's not too CGI heavy. C'mon Reitman, listen up!

Really? I never watched Extreme. I thought it strayed too much from the movies and Real Ghostbusters. :-?

But since I haven't heard TOO much bad stuff, maybe I'll check it out. To the torrent mobile, ARRRR!

There seem to be a few fanfilms in the works at ghostbusters.net. Interesting stuff, but obviously homemade.
