are you a member of ebay or other online store? If so then they could've pulled your name/address of of a database that they had hacked?

Personally I wouldn't go for it at all.

There are ways others can find a name and address on the net. Severals ways include if one participates on eBay as well as other auction sites. Some businesses are also not bound to keep the information of customers private but share them with other companies. Several others ways as well...each of which involves signing up for something or another.

Anything that remotely looks and feels like a spam and/or scam more than likely is. Conventional wisdom states one should never respond to unsolicited email. What this does is alert the spammers and scammers you indeed do exist and your e-mail is in working order. And there's a threat you're added to a list to receive more spam,

If wanting to go one step further than simply deleting the e-mail one could go to the mail preferences of your e-mail program to see the raw headers and attempt to find the actual ISP used by the individual. Not always able to be done...but it's worth a try. If it's found copy and paste the entire e-mail, plus headers, and write to the ISP it originated from. (Usually the addy is spam@. or webmaster@.). If the spammer is operating from that address more often than not the e-mail is then promptly shut down by the ISP due to the abuse factor. Scams are a criminal activity and can also be penalized.

There's also http://spamcop.com which allows you to report free online.
