Speed of Seibertron.com ... is it better for you now?

I just made some minor changes to the header and footer of the site to hopefully speed up the pages (as of 3:40pm Central). It seems like these small changes have made a radical difference in the load average on the site. The pages seem to be loading much faster as well. I'm going to be very thrilled if this small change is all that I needed to do to lace Seibertron.com with a little extra Energon boost.

3:00 Eastern to 3:00 Pacific are the busiest times of the days (Seibertron time 2PM to 5PM). I'd love to see what some of the load averages are for you guys (bottom right hand corner of the footer).

Here's mine for this page that I'm typing this message in ...

loaded in 0.72374 seconds.

Yeah, it's been pretty bad during the past week since the movie onslaught. It seems that this change has resolved the issue though. :D

It's certainly better than it has been in the past few days.

I've noticed a lot of folks with really large sigs though, not so much in dimension, but file size.

It was slower earlier looks as the problem was fixed.

I've tried PMing people about their sigs but their general thing is

If the mods don't care why should you?

I'm working on that too.

Instead of PM'ing them just pm us their information.
I am working on this as quickly as I can, person by person.

The Mods do care. Have you notified any of the moderators about problem users?

The load average that I'm talking about is the speed which it took the server to process the PHP. The image loading is a different speed that has more to do with the image size and how fast your internet connection is. The speed time average thing at the bottom of each page has nothing to do with how fast your connection is because it's the speed it took to build the page on the server before sending it to your browser.

Maybe someone more technical can take a better shot at explaining this ...

I just responded to him saying pretty much the same thing in the post right above yours.

It definitely seems to be running much faster now!

There have been a total of 10,053 pages viewed on Seibertron.com in the past 15 minutes including this page which loaded in 0.25961 seconds

But you'll forgive me for not finding that figure accurate. The last few days i've had the header loaded for a few mins before the rest of the page decided to load and it then said less than 2 seconds.

And when you have time to duck out and grab a drink and come back to find it still not loaded, it's not less than 2 seconds.

Definitely does seem faster now though.

that's becuase I just made this change this afternoon. I know it's been slow as molasses this past week, hence me looking at the code and saying ... "Ok self, what can I change that's been the same for the past few years?" Thought I'd try to change up some of my legacy code that I haven't touched in a while and it seems to have made a HUGE difference.

Agreed it is much faster now though, before it sometimes took upto 4 minutes for the page to show(especially HMW) and the page stated that it loaded in 4 seconds and it wasn't my connection which is 2048k down/256k up

I actually noticed it was faster today, I figured it'd have to be the site since the school computers have been packing a sad of late.

What program do you use? If it is Internet Explorer, downloading IE7 (as I recently did) will fix that problem.

Thank you Ryan for all your hard work. I do see improvement in load speed and other areas of the site.
