They're not actually rechnically mine, as I've been gone for so long that my two dogs have both been replaced (sisters, they had a genetic condition that made them develop brain tumors - after Emily left, we got Lucy, but I was already in UK by then; after Daisy died, Maddy joined the house). But the two furballs below are Lucy (half-boxer half-lab-ish) and Maddy (noidea). All of them have been rescues. :D

I got a piece of work for you guys here. Meet the animal personification of Jeckyl and Hyde, the cat named Garfield:

Image

A Maine Coon mix, and an oddball at that. For starters, his mother's a tortoise shell and all his siblings were dark grey short hairs.

He's actually my parents', but he seems to like us a lot more. That is, when he's not being grumpy and/or playful. When he's like that, he can easily hurt you when he lashes out, I still have some scarring from when he attacked my heel (and I had socks on!).

Here's one who loved me to bits, the Tuxedo cat called Catootje:

Image

Lovable chatterbox all around, who'd only get on my lap and nobody else's. At times she'd even flat-out demand I sit down so she'd have a place to lay down on. Sadly, she passed this year, possibly due to a poisoned bird she caught while "hunting". But she'll always have a special spot in my heart. :)

I was having a soft moment the other day, and tracked down old photos of Daisy and Emily, the predecessors of Lucy and Maddy above.

I also found this adorable one of very small Lucy with Daisy.

Ha! Ha! Thanks :) It's almost disgusting how cute they are...

I did find another cute pic I had to share of Chapin (while I was looking for pics of Bailey) when the day we brought her home...she was sooo sleepy, WAKE UP PUPPY!

chapinday1a.jpg

Now for Bailey he was my third/ our first dog, we rescued him, a product of divorce. Coon Hound and Lab...he no longer lives with us, he lives with a family member but he is very old and lumpy :( he is still my buddy though see him at family events and holidays.

You may notice the green leather chair as a staple in these pictuers...that is his chair...which he will happily push anyone out of if they are careless enough to sit on it!

These guys are cute! Do they get along?? I had a pet turtle when I was kid. Always liked turtles :)

Von Dumbass (Haha!)What has Jolt done to earn that?...my Chloe's real last name is Von Meadowview...don't ask...her Sire's name was Whitespike Von Meadowview....although she is called dumbass when she does goofy things...like fall of the bed...or turns around and slams her face into the wall...

as i mentioned, my mum breeds cocker spaniels. and shes got a litter due in a week or so (hopefully ill be getting a puppy!). she sent me this pic of the momma-dog to be (brooke) in her PJ's (to stop her from scratching her belly  ).

I've been avoiding this thread ... for reasons.
larry_38.jpg

From left to right, Pembo, Tegan and Benny (P & B are brothers). These were the "kids" who have been in my life post-High School

Pembo disappeared 8 years or so ago. We suspect it was our neighbours then partner as he and Benny liked to go over and visit and beat up their cat. I woke up about 4am, walked past the bedroom where my sister and few months old nephew were sleeping and he was on the bed then. By 7am he'd vanished.

Tegan joined the family just after I finished high school. We'd gone a few months without a cat and one day mum said we should go check out the animal shelter "just for a look". When we got there Tegan was all over her, very affectionate, mum couldn't resist. Turned out though she was just a hussy and did that for everyone. Image

Tegan was basically my cat, "Missy Meow" had a very sweet voice. She left us a few months after Pembo. She didn't adjust well to my (then new) nephew and "moved out", spent a lot of her time outside (after being an indoors cat) and went off her food.

Benny stuck around though. They say animals take after their owners, and I guess Benny got his grumpiness from me! He was a rough and tumble cat, spending many nights going out and getting into fights, he had many injuries over the years. But when it rained or got cold he had no hesitation in taking over your bed, he took great enjoyment in curling up on top of the sheets between your legs ... provided you were under the sheets so he could pin you.

He also didn't mind a good nibble of your finger. Offer it to him and he'd lick it before crunching down. He had an addiction to food pellets for turtles. Once he heard you shaking the tin he'd appear out of no where, his eyes glazed over like a zombie looking for food.

And the reason why I've avoided this thread is because he hasn't been too well for a while now. His hips were shot, he could no longer clean himself ... so last Friday we made the decision and he left us.

While there were cats (and many other animals) before them, and after them, these three have been a part of my life for 20 odd years, which if you do that maths, is over half my life time.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go ban someone to re-establish my rep.

As I said elsewhere, really sorry to hear about Benny, and now the others - but they all sound like they made your life much furrier, warmer (bloodier) while they were around. :)
