Wrote a book. Need criticisms.

I hate asking people to do **** for me, but I wrote a book. A short story to be precise. And before I release it to the public, I need people to read it and give me their thoughts on it. I already know it's perfect, but I want to see what you mortals think about it. After all, it's marketed towards you. So, if anyone wants to read it and criticize the **** out of it, let me know. And you can be as mean, spiteful, or biased in your criticisms as you want. Don't make up complaints, though.

And in case you're short on time, it's not that long. At all.

Considering how patronising you just came across, I'll gladly pass.

I figured that would make people actually want to read it, just so when they did, they'd be even more inclined to ruthlessly criticize it and me. Guess not, huh?

Once you learn the difference between a book and a short story, I'll consider reading this perfect piece of fiction. >:oP

Technically, the book I'm writing is a collection of short stories that connect to form one big cohesive tale. Right now, though, I'm only focusing on getting feedback for the first of those.

Technically, that's an anthology. A "book" or novel would be one single story with an average length of 300 + pages.

BTW, the key to reverse psychology is subtlety--you gave it away with the heavy-handed arrogance. ;)

I'd think that an anthology would have to be stories collected from multiple authors that don't have anything to do with one another. But ok.

Not necessarily. An anthology can be a collection of short stories by just one author--the stories can also be set in the same universe or otherwise.

No really, I want to see what/how Sly writes. He's asking for feedback and I feel up for giving it, sans the hatred.

Truth be told, I'm a little curious myself. That said, I'm a little caught up with my own 3d modeling projects to do any critiquing for him, so I'll just wait until he posts it publicly before giving it a look.

People often say art is a reflection of the creator's soul, so I expect there to be a lot of apocalyptic stuff as well as doom and gloom.

Oof, I was down with reading your drivel up until you gave that number. I mean, I already know it's going to be trash, considering you have incredibly low standards when it comes to writing, (The TF movies were trash and the sooner you can admit that, the sooner we can all move on) but it would at least be fun to read as part of a group activity, like reading "My Immortal." But I don't know about 50 pages, I can only take so much before I feel the urge to kill myself with alcohol poisoning.

Now go ahead and insult my intelligence, something about how I couldn't comprehend your work. We all know that's your next move.

First off, you haven't read it. How the hell should I know you wouldn't comprehend it? You're judging it out of cognitive bias, before you've even seen a word from it. It's not what you're thinking. It isn't a damn thing to do with what you're thinking.

I don't need to have read Stephanie Meyer's latest book to know it's going to be crap with too many adjectives and not enough likable characters. I don't need to read Dan Brown's latest book to know it's going to be full of major inconsistencies with real life that he's going to pretend are true anyway. And I don't need to read your story to know it's going to be just your usual diatribe in story format.

Just for funsies, though, what's the story about?

A sociopath who rises up against an so called "oppressive government," (even though it's lasted for billions of years in absolute peace, save for the past 30 years) and gets locked up. The story itself is about him attempting to escape from prison. It's not at all what it sounds like, though. That's just the main premise.

Not even close. I said it's not what it sounds like at all. I'll admit the main character has some of my qualities. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's just a couple. But that's the extent of the correlation between the main character and myself. Besides, I'm more of a psychopath than a sociopath.

There are certain main elements to the story that set it apart from most. Not only that, but it's part of a much bigger... thing that plays out in the background of it.
