Website design, which way to go?

When I was at school, I messed about with HTML a little and produced a couple of okish, if rather slow websites. Well the urge of website designing has resurfaced, and with a resonably large collection, I now have an actual subject worth covering.

This leads me to my question, how sould I go about it? HTML+CSS, PHP+MySQL or some other way. As it's been that long since I did anything, I'd be pretty much starting from scrap on HTML, and I've never use PHP. I'd like to learn one method of doing it, cuase I tend to get confused between languages. Bare in mind that if I can get good enough at it, I would like to use the skills learnt to earn some money too.

Cheers for any advice, Redimus

My advice - unless you need (or desperately want to learn) PHP and MySQL, they're not worth you bothering bothering with right now.

Get building with HTML and CSS and you'll be fine, at least to start with (maybe throwing in a little JavaScript if you want to have some dynamic content). Getting involved with anything else now would be like trying to run before you can walk.

Do you have a subject for the site yet Red? If it's TF related do you think you could incorporate something like the seibs sightings thread but for online stores? Some way of finding the best prices for those things we can't go in to domestic shops and buy is much needed as you know.

Initally (whilst Im getting used to it) I just wanna put my collection up online (a bit like seib's galeries, but with often less good quality toys, and always less good quality photos). It's something I may concider after a while though.

if its about Tf, then use the movie and review of the different comics could work.

At the moment Im more worried about gettign the practical side cracked rather than the content, it's just conveniant that my collection is now large enough to act as content in it's own right.

But I will bare that in mind for the future should it work out.
