So, I got engaged to my girlfriend of officially 2 and a half years, but if one includes the first time we dated for a bit, 3 and a half years. I'm also set to graduate in 47 days.

Anyone who's been through the mills here willing to help with some life advice and any other odd sorts of things feel free!

Also, I think this would be a fun thread, unless one already exists somewhere, to tell fun stories from times in school, times with significant others, etc, if anyone would be willing to share!

I can start: when I proposed, things didn't exactly go as planned. Our time in town took up a lot of time so while I had hoped to propose at sunset, I ended up proposing at night, destroying picture opportunities for the time being. But, it worked out because I proposed in front of our campus fountain that had the lights on Saint Francis releasing a bunch of birds, so it actually worked out picturesquely pretty well. And she was very happy and I managed to surprise a psych major! and then she punch me lovingly for doing so and for actually putting a ring on her

OK 1st of all Congrats! :D

2nd, I'm sorry I missed this thread until now.

I was engaged once, to my high school girlfriend whom I dated for almost 2 years. It didn't work out because after she went away to college she turned into a cheater and we broke up. But the actual proposal was a bit tense and comical. I proposed on Valentine's Day, exactly 9 months after our first date. I wasn't prepared well enough so the ring I got was still at the jewelry store being prepared. During the actual dinner I excused myself and went to the store which was very close to the restaurant, as I had been assured the ring would be ready. What was supposed to be a 5 minute round trip turned into a 20 minute wait and by the time I got back to the restaurant my girl was hysterical, thinking I actually left her there, breaking up with her in a very cruel way. So that kinda ruined my plan to propose in the restaurant so I did it afterwards out in the car. :-x

I can't give you much advice other than be prepared for anything and if you love her enough to want to spend the rest of your life with her you better trust her completely because anything short of that will end up wrecking everything. Also, communication and compromise are the most important things in a relationship after love.

Good luck! ;)^
