I just finished reading the Civil War; Amazing Spider-man TPB, and the last page just freaked me out! PLEASE, someone who's read the following issues, tell me that they didn't kill Aunt May!

:BOT: So it's a continuing storyline. Right now in Amazing Spidey, we're in the middle of "Back in Black" where Peter hunts down the sniper and the Kingpin.

We won't know if Aunt May survives or not until the story arc, "One More Day" in a few months where someone may die. Of course, there are 3 possible people that may die: Aunt May, Mary Jane, or Black Cat. :CON:

Yep, Aunt May dies. Then she meets Mephisto, and they fall in love, and get married.

It's some crazy sitcom: "My Uncle, the Devil" starring Peter Parker and Mephisto. Doctor Strange is the crazy next-door neighbor.

This wouldn't be the first time AUnt May has died. A few months later, through convoluted story telling they'll talk about how A.I.M. decided that the best way to take over the world was to create Menacing Android Yak, however some nanites got their programming mixed up, so they had a mind of their own giving M.A.Y. life. M.A.Y. promptly escaped to the new york underground, where she serves as an old dottering relative of fortune.

Then on a trip to get her nephew wheat cakes, the real Aunt May was abducted by....we'll say the Shiar this time, and while searching for his Aunt, Peter came across M.A.Y. so thinking it was her, took M.A.Y. home, and blah blah blah.

May will die and be young and beautiful in the afterlife, hooking up with Steve Rogers. This will anger Uncle Ben and he will petition to be sent back to earth to look over Peter.

My other theory is that this isn't the real Aunt May at all.....it's a skrull! (ala New Avengers current storyline) You know they're gonna pull so much crap with that. Cheesy excuse to upheave years of history. But genius.

Thanks guys. I hope they don't kill off Aunt May... she's like, one of those things in comic books that (should be) untouchable.

:BOT: Yeah, I hope she survives. Ever since JMS wrote the story arc where she learns of Peter's secret identity, she's become a strong supporting character. :CON:

I don't follow the newer Spidey stories, but from what you guys are saying, this almost has a Joss Whedon feel to it. Like in Angel when Fred (a girl, now, not a man!) and Wesley finally hook up, that only lasts an episode before Fred dies and is taken over by Illyria. Aunt May becomes a strong supporter of Peter / Spider-Man, and then she's killed off. I dunno, maybe I'm thinking too much.
